Jazz Up For Auction

Jalopnik is reporting that GM, in an effort to raise some cash, is putting cars from the companies Heritage museum up for sale, including the Pontiac Solstice "Jazz Transformer Movie Vehicle." I assume this is the "hero" model used in the first movie for the best shots of the car. Considering the car is up for auction and no other Transformer vehicle, is this the final nail in the coffin for all those hoping for Jazz's resurrection? If you have the money, the Barrett-Jackson auction of the vehicles will run January 13-18 in Scottsdale, AZ. Car collectors (ah to have that kind of money) must be salivating right now.

  1. Pontiac Solstice, which was Jazz's alternate mode at first movie is now a museum object. I never imagined that could be happening for car which no one needs anymore.

  2. I think I speak for everyone when I say I REALLY wish I had that kind of money! I would TOTALLY buy it if given half a chance! To actually OWN a piece of TF history, wow!

As to this being the "final nail in the coffin" for Jazz's resurrection, I don't think that this is necessarily so. I seem to recall from the blog a few months back that the latest TF movie continuity Jazz toy mentioned something like: "ressurected by Ratchet...using fragment of Allspark...chose a different color so it wouldn't scratch as easily..." etc. Presumably because of a supposed "new" color scheme, there might also be a "new" alt mode to go along with it.

I know Orci had said that the Jazz resurrection idea "really needs to die", but since Bay & everyone insisted upon false information being released about the movie, I can't help but maintain that slightly paranoid air that maybe Jazz WILL return...if not in this movie, then maybe if TF3 in 2011, and with a new altmode and paintjob.

Seriously, I'm expecting another sexy altmode if that's the case. Perhaps the new color will be a tribute to his G1 color scheme...I hope so anyway!

    Autobots Forever! TF2 06-26-2009!

I'm debating on who to sick on you...
My '69 Camaro, or my boyfriend's '0(something) Avalanche.
My Camaro would catch you faster, but the Avalanche might do more damage...

  12. ". . .is this the final nail in the coffin for all those hoping for Jazz's resurrection? "

No it's the final nail in the coffin for that particular car being used. When cars are used in films, especially cars that are main "characters" the film-makers use more than one of the same car in case one of the cars gets damaged. This is a COMMON film-making practice. There may have been a few more copies of that Solstice on set and they may be sitting in a warehouse somewhere, now that filming is done. We'll see come June 26, 2009.

I hope Jazz comes back as I, too, was/is one of the ones who hated how the writers killed him off and didn't really develop his character. I mean, Ratchet can fix Bumblebee, but he can't fix Jazz? One of the examples of bad writing in the first film.
