Two New TF2 Toys

Two more toys have popped up online from The Arker via Seibertron.com for the Transformers 2 toy line. I don't think they are April Fools jokes either. One is called Dune Runner (an Autobot) and the other is Scalpel (a Decepticon). No clue if the characters are in the movie but I doubt Dune Runner is (seen before). Scalpel reminds me of Frenzy with that goofy look and design and makes me think he just might make an appearance.

Deluxe Dune Runner bio:
Back on Cybertron, most rolling surfaces are flat, lightly textured roads - perfect for speed and traction. It wasn't until he got to Earth that Dune Runner experienced anything like [?]. He can't say he enjoyed the new vehicle mode, but he appreciates that it lets him patrol the deserts and mountains where many Decepticons have taken to hiding.
Deluxe Scalpel bio:
Scalpel has a massive database of anatomical data for millions of creatures across the universe. He can unassemble anything that doesn't struggle to much in a matter of minutes, and usually puts it back together with only a few parts in the wrong place. He serves as medic to the Decepticon army, but most Decepticons prefer to suffer in silence rather than allow Scalpel to work on them.

  1. They are SCOUTS for sure---the alt. mode is featured on the front of the box.

  5. Scalpel may be the Insecticon like creature seen in the trailer which is pretty good i suppose. However why do the decepticons need a medic when Megatron rebuilt himself from spare parts and all transformers are self replicating (Meaning they can rebuild themselves over time)

Though Scalper seems very similar to a Insecticon/Perceptor combined data. There could have been much better names than Dune Runner though. It seems to be a bit silly as the Protoform is called Dune Runner and when it comes to earth it scans a Dune buggy like thing.

Or another theory. Megatron pins sam down while Scalpel inserted that bug like thing (in the trailer) into sam so the Decepticons could track him. Kind of like the chips in the necks of the people in the TF comics.

  9. Dune Runner - I'm ok with the name, and I really like this Transformer. It looks kind of G1-ish.

Scalpel - I like this one too. Was there a Transformer in any other continuity named Scalpel? Just checking. If not, and if this one is in the movie, then I think it's cool that they're coming up with some new characters.

  11. Scalpel and Dune Runner are awful names. I do like the look of DR, but just his name pisses me off. It feels like, and I hope it's not just me, that Bay, Orci, Kurtzman, etc. go 9 out of 10 steps in creating the look/names of the bots, but they refuse to take that extra step which would make them beyond outstanding.

Regarding Scalpel, he might make an appearance in the movie, but he is NOT the Insecticon we saw in the trailer. I am watching the trailer right now and the bug that we see clearly has wings at the 1:20 mark.

  12. Might be a few of the background scene robots...who knows

  13. I'm guessing Scapel is going to have to do something to Sam either take something out or put something in. It makes sense after looking at the comic book. Sam has something to him that the decepticons want/need what that is I have no idea. But This should be interesting. I like him he has something to him that just stands out and it's nice to see more imagination added. Scapel sounds creepy to me despite how small he is. Just by his bio I'd say he's made to be decepticon.

  14. SCAPEL IS THE GUY SEEN ON THE LEAKED COLORING BOOK ON TOP OF SAM WHILE MEGATRON HAS HIM PINNED DOWN! LOOK AT THE RESEMBLENCES!

  15. The robot that's on top of Sam has NO REASON to put a small tracking device inside him---this isn't the Matrix :)

I feel that he is being held for a BRAIN SCAN.

If he knows the location of 'the Fallen' why wait until he gets to Egypt and then 'track' him just do a simple scan and they will have their precious info----plus it's more fun that way if the Deceps know & the Abots have to track them down!!

  16. Replying to 2L1M7
In the Transformers Comics they have insered chips into the back of Peoples necks to Control them and see what they are seeing. This way the decepticons would know when to strike. Megatron could be tracking the Autobots so he can keep his minions safe as remember the Bonechrusher thing in the last film.

Also it could mean that The Decepticons learn how to awaken the Fallen.

  20. you're the dumb one. How are they going to scan dinosaurs if they aren't around anymore? they're going to say "let's go to the museum and scan some old dinos so we can become them". idiot.

Possibly Wheelie as well because he is technically a Autobot even though he switches sides.

What about the original they were built by Wheeljack i think after he based it on the cartoon. All they need to do is have ratchet find a few protoforms who have landed and give them a design based on a earth history book showing dinosaurs.

  24. Can't do dinobots! I know, I know. you hate me for it but it will be better in the end. trust me.

  25. On second thought maybe it can work if Grimlock lands his protoform inside of a muesuem and a T-Rex is the first thing he see's. But it's not mech so why would he be able to pull it off as a disguise?

We gotta think about that one.

  26. Essex... I posted this few times already in this blog. My "assumption" on the Dinobots is that they crash in Egypt ( like in the trailer ) & since its the desert ( where most dinosaur bones are found anyways) they all will scan the bones in buried deep underground & voila! Dinobots!
