Top 10 Burning Questions from Transformers 2 (Updated)

This post pretty much assumes you have seen the movie, so spoilers within.

If you’re a fan of science fiction and comics, part of the fun is coming up with explanations (sometime elaborate ones) to explain inconsistencies in continuity. As my review of the movie indicated, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has story holes large enough for Optimus Prime to drive through. From Yahoo! Movies here are top ten questions (really more then that) about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, many of which will probably be beyond the ability to retcon. Thanks to aunit2011 for the link.
1. In "Transformers," there was this giant battle in the middle of downtown Los Angeles -- excuse me, Mission City -- that was witnessed by thousands of people at the very least. But somehow the government was able to cover up the whole thing, and now the existence of alien robots is just an internet rumor? How did they do it? Pay off everyone who was there and quickly fix millions of dollars in damage? Also, didn't Keller (Jon Voight) go on TV and tell everyone we were being attacked by "a technological civilization far superior to our own"? How did they spin that?
If remember, the novel said Mendelson Robotics is blamed as part of a failed test of new weaponary. Also at the end of the first movie Keller even indicated it was explained as a failed training exercise.

2. There are two pieces of the Allspark cube left: the military has one under lock and key, and Sam discovers another. The Decepticons steal one and bring Megatron back to life. But when Sam (Shia LaBeouf) wants to bring back Optimus, he has to find the Matrix of Leadership on the other side of the globe. Why not use the other piece? Mikaela (Megan Fox) has it in her backpack the whole time. It brought his kitchen appliances to life, why can't it do the same for Optimus?
Mikaela's shard was used on Jetfire

3. Speaking of Megatron's rebirth, when the Decepticons venture deep into the ocean to revive him, the Navy crew tracking them reads five contacts. When they get down there, they tear apart one of the robots for parts to rebuild Megatron. Then as they rise to the surface, the same Navy guys say they spot six contacts. The little "Doctor" robot popped out down there, but he's about a third of the size of a person. Would he have shown up on sonar?

4. That reminds me: even if I were to forgive the Doctor's German accent -- and director Michael Bay is asking me to forgive a lot of ridiculous accents -- why would a robot need glasses? He has little lenses that flip in front of his mechanical eyes. Couldn't he just get his eyes adjusted? You'd think with all the laser guns, someone could perform a Lasik procedure.

5. Apparently, Transformers can look like people now. How? And how is it that even though the robo-girl (Isabel Lucas) is made of metal, she can still straddle Sam without crushing him. And if Bumblebee knows something's wrong with her, why does he spit antifreeze at her instead of telling Sam? Yes, his voicebox is broken, but wasn't it fixed at the end of the last movie?

6. The Fallen is the last of the Primes, since they all sacrificed themselves to stop him from destroying the sun. But then he says that Optimus is a descendant of the Primes. First, Transformers have kids? And second, how could he descend from them if they were all dead? And if the Fallen could only be destroyed by a Prime, why didn't the originals just gang up on him back in the day? And what makes Optimus so special, anyway? Megatron beat him earlier, but all it takes is a few spare parts from creaky old Jetfire for him to take out the Fallen?

7. Sam, Mikaela, and Simmons (John Turturro) go to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. to find Jetfire. Then they walk out the back onto a wide open field with old planes and mountains in the distance. When did the National Mall start to look so much like to Tucson, AZ (where they really filmed that scene)?

8. The geography is just as bad when they go to Egypt. The stone city of Petra in Jordan is over 250 miles away, over mountainous terrain, with few paved roads and the Israeli border between them, so how can they drive from one to the other in a couple of hours. And the Pyramids are said to be shooting distance from the Mediterranean, but they are actually well over 80 miles inland. Even if the Navy ship had a secret rail gun, and even if the captain would take an order to fire from a former agent of a government branch that no longer exists (over a walkie-talkie that inexplicably starts working again), how could it hit a moving target from that distance?

9. Sam briefly dies and goes to Robot Heaven. Robot Heaven?!?!

10. Where does Sam's bandage come from? What about his extra sock? Why does Sam's roommate not contribute anything at all? What was the Fallen doing for those thousands of years Megatron was frozen in ice? How does one satellite receive transmissions from everywhere on the planet? Why does Wheelie hump Mikaela's leg? Why do we have to see John Turturro's thong? Why are robots who join together to become Devastator also seen fighting the Army at the same time? Why does the government want only our military fighting Decepticons when our weapons seem unable to make so much as a dent on any of them? Why did the ancient Egyptians build a pyramid around the sun-destroying machines instead of just breaking it? Why is the Matrix of Leadership bigger in the Fallen's hand than in Sam's? And how do Mikaela's pants stay so clean?

Update: Below are one possible set of answers to the various questions asked above by Bruno. I thought they were good and logical and might help others in clearing up some things.
Question 3:
I believe the Navy is tracking and looking for the energy that ENB's emit.

Question 4:
His lenses are part of the alt mode - the microscope. It's common to see doctors with magnifying lenses when they do surgeries, and the Doctor was about to "extract" Sam's Brain to have the knowledge of his mind.

Question 5:
Part 1 - Apparently, Transformers can look like people now. How?
The pretender is a robot that looks like a human. In the Movie Prequels (HQs), while Sam is in the bedroom with Alice, Leo is in the living room watch tv and sees an advertisement of a new fun park (like disneyworld) and he sees a human sized doll that looks exactly like Alice. So, the pretender scanned the doll and transformed in a human.
Part 2 - And how is it that even though the robo-girl (Isabel Lucas) is made of metal, she can still straddle Sam without crushing him.
Alice, like the other decepticons, wanted what was in Sam's mind. So he must be alive to allow the Doctor to do his job.
Part 3 - And if Bumblebee knows something's wrong with her, why does he spit antifreeze at her instead of telling Sam?
When Bumblebee spits antifreeze at Alice he doesn't know she is a robot. He only do that because Sam is "cheating" Mikaela. During the entire scene, Bumblebee plays musics that focus on the cheating part.

Question 10:
Part 1 - Where does Sam's bandage come from?
When Sam crashes after the space bridge scene, he injures his hand and Mikaela put a bandage on it.
Part 2 - What about his extra sock?
Sam took one of his socks to put the ashes of the matrix inside. He doesn't have a third sock!
Part 3 - Why does Sam's roommate not contribute anything at all?
Leo doesn't do a lot in the movie but what he does is crucial to the storyline. Thanks to him, Sam and Mikaela meet former-Agent Simmons, aka RoboWarrior, and meet Jetfire, an autobot that helps Sam and Optimus Prime.
Part 4 - How does one satellite receive transmissions from everywhere on the planet?
In this question we see how stupid the person who wrote this is. We have a worlwide system of satellites that cover the entire planet. The GPS (Global Positioning System) for example.
Part 5 - Why does Wheelie hump Mikaela's leg?
It's called comedy!
Part 6 - Why do we have to see John Turturro's thong?
In the first movie, he has a shirt with a superman-ish symbol with S7 on it and boxers that match. In this movie, Bay wanted to push a little more on that.
Part 7 - Why are robots who join together to become Devastator also seen fighting the Army at the same time?
It's like the toys. They are diferent characters. So, we could say that there are 2 demolishers (1 dies in the beginning and 1 to form Devastator), 2 Scrappers, 2 Mixmasters ...
Part 8 - Why does the government want only our military fighting Decepticons when our weapons seem unable to make so much as a dent on any of them?
First, the government doesn't want that. It only askes if the Decepticons are in Earth beacause of the Autobots. Second, it's Optimus Prime that doesn't want to share cybertronian technology with humans (he explains that in the movie). Third, the military do have weapons to destroy robots. Think: what killed Devastator???
Part 9 - Why did the ancient Egyptians build a pyramid around the sun-destroying machines instead of just breaking it?
The ancient egyptians lived around 3000 a.C. Do you think they had any techology that could destroy the sun harvester?

  1. Ok so a lot of these I agree with but as for #2...the second piece of the Allspark which you said was in Mikaela's backpack was used to bring Jetfire back to life. While this was happening the shard of the cube was pulled out of Sam's grip.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Keller never said "a technological civilization far superior to our own" on tv, he said it in a meeting, with high level officials.

  3. He missed out on the most important part:

Why are there robotic aliens in this movie? That can't be real? Where do they exist in the real world? MICHAEL BAY SHOT A FAKE MOVIE MADE UP OF FICTIONAL EVENTS, FICTIONAL CHARACTERS AND ROBOTS, DAMN HIM!

    Seriously.
I call mental retardation on the one who thought up all those things and couldn't enjoy the ride.
Although the illogical placement of multiple characters and the geography was a bit annoying, this post just makes me sigh heavily.

  4. You people didn't see Sam use the Allspark piece to wake up Jetfire

  5. Here's a question, how do The Transformers exist.... Oh wait its a movie!! I'm sick of people watching a science fiction movie and then saying, "yeah right they could never do that!" Guess what it's a science fiction movie. Not a documentary.

  6. people ask to many questions about the movie...and yea im askin myself some of the same questions about the movie...but if they want to have holes so big optimus prime could drive though then they can...on one can make a perfect movie these days...every movie has holes in it

  7. IT'S JUST A MOVIE !!!!!! Yeah some of them make sense, but I mean come on.

  8. uh and wtf happened to wheelie?

    ReplyDelete
  9. The only question I had was "Why the Constructicons were still running around fighting even after Devastator is formed and killed."

    ReplyDelete
  10. I have an answer for the question 2.
he didn't used it 'cause Mikaela had it, then, he was escaping from Megatron & Starscream, they went with Simmons to know something about the simbols in Sam's head and why the Decepticons said something of a Map, and then, go to the museum, the Allspark Shard revitalized Jetfire and it's gone. Also, Sam didn't knew that the shard could revive OP, but he believed in the Matrix.
as for the other questions, I dunno...
and maybe the doctor lens were added just to put some parts of the alt mode :P

  11. Robot heaven??? Sam had a VISION there is a diffrence!!

  12. Thanks for posting the link! My biggest issue was with #s 5&7

    ReplyDelete
  13. In response to #2... The second Allspark shard was used on Jetfire in that museum.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hmm, all solid points. Ill have to spend another $15 and watch the movie again.....

    ReplyDelete
  15. You missed the whole female autobot thing. Not that it wasn't explained but that they never said if all 3 were Arcee, or just one. They also didn't really make it clear who died at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  16. uhhh as for question 2 goes, they used it on jetfire... what a dumbass question

    ReplyDelete
  17. alot of these questions are really stupid...
i think they shouldve asked questions like, WTF HAPPENS TO THE MATRIX OF LEADERSHIP AFTER PRIME BLOWS UP THE SUN HARVESTER?!?!?!?!?
ill be very sad if the matrix got destroyed along with the sun harvester instead of prime recovering it and embedding it in his spark.

  18. This movie was exactly as I expected and I didn't really expect much. At first, I was angry at the critics for giving it rubbish reviews but now that I have seen it, I have to agree with some of their comments. It would have been a nicer experience if Bay had given us more character development for the transformers (which was also a problem with the first film), many of them appear for a brief moments and most are not even named. And why didn't anybody bother to proofread the script to at least disguise some of the Unicron sized plotholes. I know we have to suspend our disbelief but this is way too far

    ReplyDelete
  19. There is an actual answer to question number 2. The reason Sam couldn't use his fragment piece of the cube to revive Optimus Prime is the cube only is used to take all technology and turn it evil. Since Optimus is not evil it would not have worked. Therefore, the matrix of leader, since he is a Prime, is the only thing that would have brought him back. This cube thing was explained in the first Transformers movie. Why didn't the cube fix Bubblebee's voice box even though he had close contact with the cube, because he is not evil!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I just didn't like the the Smithsonian to Arizona landscape inconsistency. That was pretty bad.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Bumblebee was kicked by starscream and lost his voyce. (transformers alliance)

    ReplyDelete
  22. here's my constructicon theory. there were alot of decepticons dropping down and a lot dropped down in that construction site. what other vehicles are there to scan besides construction vehicles. you know, there can be other decepticons with the same vehicle mode.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Q.10, i thought the same about Devastator and the other constructicons fighting at the same time, but after a second viewing when devastator transforms you can see the other two driving up to a ledge over looking and also it would be kind of stupid assuming that there would only be one set of construction vehicles at a massive building site like that. Also Alice is a "pretender", think it was made up in the cartoon series.

  24. 10. Where does Sam's bandage come from? When he arrived he had a small bandage which is where he got the wound. Don't forget, he did get injured in that accident so they just had to play the bigger bandage scene off fast, but at least the story showed that he hurt his had in landing. What about his extra sock? Didn't he take off his shoe and remove his sock? Why does Sam's roommate not contribute anything at all? What for, he was freaking out at what was going on around him. What was the Fallen doing for those thousands of years Megatron was frozen in ice? Good question but a possible answer is he was very weak and had to wait until the All Spark was found so he could try to rule the universe. How does one satellite receive transmissions from everywhere on the planet? That is what a satellite is supposed to do, it picks up all sorts of radiowaves that is used throughout the planet and uses satellites to transmit a signal from one place and bounce it back at another part of the planet. There are various electromagnetic wavelengths of light all you need to do is match the frequency and pick it up. Since Soundwave is an advance communication specialist he knows how to do that, that is his function. Why does Wheelie hump Mikaela's leg? That is supposed to be for humor, plus Mikaela was treating him like a dog. Why do we have to see John Turturro's thong? More humor??? Why are robots who join together to become Devastator also seen fighting the Army at the same time? That really annoyed me but it was to save on CGI time and money probably. But for true Transformers fans, you could tell there were two Mixmasters, a revised Demoliser, and so on. Why does the government want only our military fighting Decepticons when our weapons seem unable to make so much as a dent on any of them? Saber rounds actually worked, remember in the first Transformers, don't know why they didn't mention that again. Why did the ancient Egyptians build a pyramid around the sun-destroying machines instead of just breaking it? Its meant to absorb the energy of suns and convert them into energeon for all Transformers. Why is the Matrix of Leadership bigger in the Fallen's hand than in Sam's? Aspect ratio. And how do Mikaela's pants stay so clean? Starch guard!

  25. Are you kidding me? Any one person could have a thousand questions after the movie. There where scenes that where out of place and did not make sense when thought through after the movie. But is that not the fun of it? To have theories about how this and that happend... I really dont care in the end. I thought it was a really good movie. The plot was good, and they will build of this one for the third, and maybe they will answer some of your questions. The CGI/ILM was breath taking. If I have any critiques for the movie it would be that some of the cinemetography was to close up, to fast, and blurry. I would have liked to have seen more incorperation with the autobots, maybe an intro to meet them. And it seems everytime Prime is in a fight, he is the lone autobot...

    ReplyDelete
  26. errr...Prime dies way before Sam even meets Jetfire so stop talking like 2 yr olds

Also inadvertently uses the spark on the Kitchen bots and then on Jetfire , so that BS about using it only once doesnt work either

The answer to all the questions above is easily explained

Judging by most of the comments above , Optimus could be Sam's left testicle and all of you would believe it . Its ridiculous , Bay knows he doesn't need a story or a plot when catering to Tools like you cos you'll believe anything ..dumbasses

  27. How could a movie have so many plot holes? why in iv & v there's blood (lightsaber) in the rest none, why is Frodo immuned from the ring and no one else is,how did batmans underground hideout get built did Alfred do it, if Pheonix is all powerful why can't she stop Wolverine, Maybe Michael Bay was on the grassy knoll. It's a movie & a DAMN GOOD ONE thanx Mr Bay. Why can't we fix our worlds problems??? Maybe we need a Prime...

  28. it's a movie enjopy it...

  29. To the Girl thing, there's been a group of Transformers called PRETENDERS.

    They've been there for YEARS.

    It's nothing new.

  30. ACTUALLY The Fallen was too weak and had to rest AND there was a possibility Optimus Prime could kill, so he had to wait until he died

  31. so many plot holes, bloody arms from lightsabers IV & V. Frodo is immuned to the ring,no one else is,Underground hide out who built it Alred? 32. This people should watch the movies with a little more attention, and open a little their minds. Some answers:
    4. Probably because he transforms in a microscope, and because it added to the "doctor" thing in the design.
    5. Yeah , that's a BIG HOLE. But it's shown in a lot of times in this movie that he can't talk yet.
    9. Like Anonymous 7/1/09 6:28 said, that are visions, not robot heaven.
10.If you read the prequel comics, you can see that he is captive in a relic-like thingy, recovering energy to come back in a new body. That's actually shown in a way in the movie, since he is back, but still connected to that chair with wires and cables, probably reloading energon or something. I believed that it only received from NEST hq, but if it isn't like that, maybe Soundwave can manipulate it to link it with other satellites and so. Kinky wheelie and turturro's thong, i guess Bay, Kurtzman or Orci thought that it was funny (DUH).About devastator, maybe there were TWO sets of constructicons, the ones that combine to form devastator and the ones that can't combine. Or maybe this Devastator is one robot spreaded among various altmodes (due to his size), and not an actual "combiner", and the other ones are the constructicons, whom casually got similar alt modes. In the previous it's shown that the sabot rounds and missiles DO hurt transformers. This one is related to the previous question: the sun harvester is probably as or even more harder than transformers itselves, and explosives didn't existed 5000 years ago.And the other ones are animation and dressing errors, i mean, that's normal, it happens in all movies.

I know i'm using my imagination to link some things, but... that is what this kind of movies are about.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why nobody ask: "How can Superman fly"?

    ReplyDelete
  34. With Devestator, there are other robots as a dump truck and other construction vehicles. Not just those. Plus how they could fix Bumblebee's legs but not his voice box???? As you may remember his legs where shot off. The Fallen probably didn't go get Megatron b/c he thought he was dead! He was totally decomishioned under all the ice, so it would be hard to find him.

    5. Alice is a Pretender. Pretenders were toys and in one of the Japanese cartoons. They were never part of the US continuity.

Bumblebee was blasted by Starscream at the Sector 7 base before the Decepticons were dumped in the ocean. See Transformers: ROTF Alliance comic

  36. Selective Realism7/01/2009 8:39 PM

    6. The AllSpark created the Primes and the Cybertronians. When the AllSpark created life after the battle on Earth between The Fallen and the Primes Optimus had whatever aspect made a Prime a Prime.

The Original Primes tried to gang up on The Fallen and they were near death after they defeated him and used the last of their power to form the Tomb of the Primes.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Selective Realism7/01/2009 8:42 PM

    9. Sam didnt go to robot heaven. He went into the Matrix where the rest of the Primes went after they gave up their lives to hide the Matrix.

There is a history in Transformers lore of retreating into the Matrix while near death. Even Spike in the comic had the power of the Matrix in him for a while.

    10. Who cares where is bandage came from. They had to write his injury into the film in the middle of shooting.

Maybe he took one sock off? Duh.

The Fallen left Cybertron with a large group of Decepticons to look for the Matrix and the last Sun Harvester before the War really got going. Somehow the Nemesis crashed on the journey and the Decepticons had not heard from the ship or anyone aboard until they picked up Barricade's transmission (Transformers:ROTF Alliance) and Soundwave found Starscream's ship on Mars.

Many of the Constructicons seen are drones. Dreadwing, in the comic, had drones as well.

I dont know what you were watching. Sabot rounds worked in the first movie and in the second movie heavy artillery took out a number of Decepticons in cometmode.

Exactly, why would ancient Epyptians know what the Sun Harvester was? They probably thought the Transformers were gods and the Sun Harvester sacred.

I dont know if the Matrix really did change shape in the movie. If the AllSpark can change shape at will who is to say the Matrix cant either?

  39. Ive seen this movie 3 times already and it gets better every time! whoever said this movie wasnt good shouldnt have watched it! this movie was way better than the first one! you people are just looking to dis the best movie this summer! if you wanna see something that is really shittty and you think is impossible you can go and watch Harry Potter on the 15th, but dont come on here looking to get attention by saying this movie wasnt good! i think the hundreds of millions of dollars this movie has already made can back it up!

  40. You're the man! You are so right. I think they should remake the movie so it makes more sense and has more action. Plus if robots can form to make Devastator why couldn't Optimus and Jetfire combine? Where was Jolt the whole movie? Why does Jetfire age but everyone else looks them same? And why do most of the Decepticons have the same face?

    ReplyDelete
  41. 1. McLaren Robotics was the name of the company that was used in the coverup, they stated it was a military test gone wrong, it was mentioned in the second movie, I guess this writer was not paying attention.

    2. Sam could not use the second piece of the Allspark to bring Optimus Prime to life because Optimus had a gaping hole in the middle of him and was in Stasis lock, he needed the Matrix to be fully healed, The shard was used on Jetfire because he was in Stasis mode since he ran out of energon in the 50s.

    3. 5 went down, 1 was torn apart for pieces, 6 came up, "The Doctor" was the 6th one coming up since it's energy reading would come up on a sonar as a separate entity.

    4. They are not glasses, the Doctor turns into a microscope, so they are like mini binoculars.

    5. Alice was scanned from a mechanical robot at Disney Land, Bumblebee sprayed here with antifreeze because he thought Sam was cheating on Mikaela

    6. IT WAS SAID IN THE MOVIE!!! that "The Fallen" was stronger than his brothers, therefore they knew they could not stop him, so they hide the matrix, Jetfire was an extremely powerful seeker who originally worked on the sun harvesters, along with his parts and the power of the Matrix, Optimus Prime was unstoppable with all of that power.

    7. They did go to the Smithsonian: Air and Space Museum, but it was the Udvar-Hazy Center, not the one in Washington D.C., The Udvar-Hazy Center is a second part of the museum that is in Virgina, right next to Washington D.C., If this writer payed attention, they said in the movie that the seeker was "by Washington". there are old planes and mountains there.

    8. They did show them "DRIVING" to Petra, they did not say how long it took them, The experimental Rail gun was shot off the battleship, that electric rail gun could shoot far distances.

    9. Is this writer an Atheist now? It wasn't Robot Heaven, they were just talking to Sam in his dream.

    10. You briefly see Mikaela tear Sam's white shirt from the back, and used it as a bandage, There was no extra sock, he took it off his own foot.

    Extras:

"What was the Fallen doing for those thousands of years Megatron was frozen in ice?"

The Fallen was locked away in in another dimension, he was freed but very weak after he was released. He could not go to Earth because the only thing that could kill him was there, Optimus Prime. Once Prime was killed, he was able to go to Earth without fear of dying.

"How does one satellite receive transmissions from everywhere on the planet?"

Soundwave was only connected to a USA satellite, therefore, he was only jamming the USAs transmissions

"Why are robots who join together to become Devastator also seen fighting the Army at the same time? "

    They are other clones

"Why does the government want only our military fighting Decepticons when our weapons seem unable to make so much as a dent on any of them?"
As they said in the movie..... It was the president's call, and a very stupid one, and OBAMA was the president in the movie.

"Why did the ancient Egyptians build a pyramid around the sun-destroying machines instead of just breaking it? "

It was ancient cybertronians that built the pyramids and hide it after the matrix was hidden, the stone used on the pyramid would hide the energy generated from the harvester.

"Why is the Matrix of Leadership bigger in the Fallen's hand than in Sam's?"

It looked the same size to me, seems like this writer is stretching to find plot holes.

  42. You gotta admit it though. As a film with a story that should show some type of arc and should carry the audience and connect to a main character, TF2 is not. You forgot a few more questions.

If this is suppose to be a movie that tells a story through action, why would Optimus have to tell us in the first ten minutes what we are actually seeing? Don't show us NEST Operations and then tell us what NEST Operations is. Don't tell us that the Transformers have been working with the humans for two years in a voice over and then have a an Army dude bring it up again. Don't treat the audience like idiots. Let us figure it out by watching the movie. Don't introduce the only real female TF, give her one line in the end of the movie, and shoot her in the chest. What an opportunity to pull in a female demographic. And what about Sideswipe? That is one cool TF so give us more of him. What makes him tick? He's a character in a movie. Let us know who he is. Another issue I had was the inconsistency with the Autobots in general. Ratchet was a cool cat from the first movie. He's got one line in this two and half hour movie. One scene after Optinums is down for the count and laying on the runway, there is a electrified TF in the bunch surrounded by Army dudes. Not one introduction on that guy. Seems pretty cool, I think he was a Chevy Volt. Where's Arcee in that scene? Still in the Autobot hanger chilling out? Then you don't see the electrified TF until the end when he helps Optimus suit up with Jetfire's parts. If NEST has been working with the Autobots for two years, why in the briefing does the Army dude (such a flat charatcer I can't even remember his name) say that he can't show the general Optimus but introduces him as the leader of the Autobots. After that much time working together don't you think everyone would be pretty tight? I can go on and on. When the DVD comes out I'm gonna re-edit it and cut about 30 minutes out. I bet you it will make more sense. As a true TF fan I just feel dissappointed that there was just so little time spent writing a good film (think of this one as a "should've been" Empire Strikes Back)and then accentuate with awesome bot fighting. Maybe kill Optimus at the end of the movie. What a cool cliffhanger that would've been. And Optimus has to get in gear! Sam saved his ass twice. What would you do in the third movie? Optimus has been saved twice by Sam and even he died in this one for a minute. Can't do that again. Even death can't stop Sam. He's like Jesus. The only way they could top all the over the top action is have the actual film real explode in the projection booth when the movie starts. Think about it. Tons of applause and only take ten minutes. 46. Hi people,

The point is, Michael "KABOOM" Bay is RUINING the Transformers. Im almost 40 years old and I grew up watching 80s cartoons and one of my favorites one was Transformers. I can say that I become a fan of the series/toys and I'm very disapointed watching it drowing into s**t in the hands of someone that just want to make a movie to gain money with a total lack of respct to the Transformers story and importance. Changing names, factions, visuals... making a dumb Megatron... twin stupid robots? Cmon! For God, what he did to Skids! PLEASE MICHAEL! STOP MAKING MOVIES!! If you want to make a "watchable action movie to show explosions", please, create something you own, do not take something cool and iconic as the transformers to ruin it.
I realy dont believe that people that really like the Transformers can even watch the movies...
What will you do next, take the Tundercats and make them fishes with laserguns (BOOM)? Take Starblazers and make them american soldiers with laserguns (BOOM)? Take Wacky Racers and make them aliens teenagers with laserguns (BOOM)?
    Just leave the Transformers alone...

  47. #10, The toys gave us a hint about Devastator and his components being drones. The individual constructicon toys had no way of combining and that overpriced Devastator toy had components with no alternate modes.

  49. @ Scalan15 ... well said. Bravo! I agree the movie had plot holes (most movies do to some degree), but these questions seem to come from someone who either was in the theater but wasn't paying attention really, or didn't see it and had a friend explain it to him.

Lately, those doing "professional" reviews seem to be either jaded, or have an agenda. Like the bearded guy on Attack Of The Show (video of review found on this blog). At one point he states he hated the movie because there was no plot and Bay just overwhelmed it with action, and then later he states the movie would have been better if there were more robots fighting! The guy obviously isn't even paying attention to what he is saying. He's just trying to find as many ways to bash the movie as possible.

But that's ok, I don't let people tell me what to think or feel. I'll take their opinion into consideration, but that's it.

  50. In response to part of number 6 they did show the other Primes gangign up on the Fallen. Jetfire even said they tried to defeat him but he was stronger so they ended up takign the Matrix instead so he couldn't use the machine. Plus considering they are all machines maybe the Prime 'genes' inside Optimus is just data that randomly showed up when he was created, linking him to teh other Primes.

  51. Ok. I have never posted on here before, but I can no longer stay quiet. I have been a huge Transformers fan since their inception. I checked this sight daily months before both movies came out. I loved the first one. I thought this one was terrible Which is so sad, cause I had such high hopes. First, to all you who say its just a movie, check your brain at the door and stop complaiing... I couldn't disagree more. I expect more than just cool action shots in movies these days. The writers did star trek and it was brilliant. Did they check their brains at the door on this one? Optimus should have journeyed into the matrix, not sam. He should have united it with his spark in order to defeat Megatron, and then later merged with jetfir to defeat the Fallen. And that would have been climactic, intense battles to end the movie. That would have made sense. The best part of the movie was the forest fight and the rest was down hill, and some of it didn't even make sense. This looks like a rough draft of the movie that should have been but wasnt. I am not a hater in the least, but this movie let me down big time, as a fan, and I hope the writers redeem themselves in the next one. Oh, and last point, the humor was anything but family friendly. All of my friends are not allowing their children to see it because of that. Why market toys at burger king and such to kids when it has innappropriate humor? You want a child to buy toys of the figures of this movie, yet you have wheelie calling meagan a stupid bitch and the twins calling sams roomate a pussy. What were you thinking?? And, all the others complaints... sigh, again, hopefully there will be a number 3 and it will redeem number 2.

That part was so ridiculous, why did prime not merge the matrix with his spark like he did in ALL of transformers lore??? Thats what makes him head and shoulders above the rest! that is a huge, pivotal point in transformer lore and the screwed it up.

  54. Even with all the complaining and the negativity and the AWFUL reviews, it still hasn't stopped this movie from becoming one to the biggest blockbusters. This means repeat viewers, and word of mouth good enough to get others to go, as well. People are divided on this movie, for sure, but it's obvious more like it than hate it. You can't win with everyone.

  57. Our weapons do have an impact. In the first movie they realized that sable rounds would have an effect and that is what they used. Didnt you see the army's weopons being effective. I agree with a lot of the rest. The glasses on a robot is pretty funny, robots are super advanced they should have micro and macroscopic vision.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Personally, I found the movie to be much more enjoyable by ignoring all of this stuff. It's just an awesome, robot-fighting-robot action movie and really doesn't have to make sense. We're talking about a movie about alien robots that turn into everyday vehicles. The premise alone is so rediculous, that nit-picking continuity errors, etc. is just going to make for a miserable experience on the viewer's part. Just sit back, eat your popcorn and enjoy the mayhem. The movie is meant to be fun, and it most definitely is!

    Answer:

In the novel Alice scanned an Alice in Wonderland robot. This is the reason she looks like a human also why she took the name Alice. This was originally going to be spotted by Leo while watching an Advertisement for Disney land.

Bumblebee didnt know Alice was a pretender all he knows is that Sam is with another girl. He believes him to be cheating on Mikela. Also he is in a rush to get Sam to Optimus. This is the reason that he does all that stuff to her first putting on his radio to convince Sam to get rid of her and also taunting Sam. Then he sprays her and slams her head off the side.

Bumblebee`s voice box was mostly fixed at the end of the last film however he only said a few things. It is likely that Ratchet did not repair all the damage or that Bumblebee just prefers to use his Radio instead of talking :)

  62. I would just like to add, that maybe megatron was just using the fallen so he could become the next prime officially. Perhaps megatron was skipped over or next in line and just couldn’t wait. Remember prime did call him brother in the first film. And maybe the title of the movie refers to optimus prime being the fallen who would get revenge?

  65. Watch the cartoons. They are actually quite shit. The original toys are shit by today's standards. The fact this movie isn't 100% terrible is a miracle. Ignore the plot holes and enjoy it as 2.5 hours of escapism, not a life long experience. Too many people seem to thing they have some kind of ownership on the TF's because we grew up with them. Yes the move has some issues, but on the whole it delivered what it promised.
Also there are other construction based Decepticons other than Devastator's parts.

Go see G.I Joe, then watch TF2 again with a new perspective.

  70. Devastator has been formed by several construction vehicle, which we don't know whether they can change into robot mode or not (can only merge w/ each other to form robot).

    Another Question:

Scrapper has been killed by his friends when reviving megatron in order to get his parts.
Why he appears again and attacking sam and mikaela together w/ starscream.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I think some of these questions can be answered by watching the movie. The existence of the Pretender(Alice) would come no surprise to any TF fan. However I just don't get why Transformers(Starscream) can spit and (Bumblebee)cry. I mean, robots and humans are 2 different things. Anyway,if you are still blurred at the plot, watch it more than 2 times. If not buy the novel/comic prequel.I can sense this person who asks questions really doesn't appreciate the movie even a bit.

Not once do you see him in a fight scene or in his alternate mode which was supposed to be a blue Chevy Volt.

When Sam had his dream, the Primes told him to merge the Matrix with Optimus' Spark, Sam did that, I have a feeling that all that knowledge went into Prime, We'll find out in the 3rd movie, With the Matrix, the Enery boost from Jolt and all of Jetfire's Parts Optimus was pretty Powerful.

  76. Well the person who is picking holes in this movie is what i dare say a "hater"...he's not a fan and he has questions about the movie for one thing it sounds as if he went into the movie looking for mishaps. Some of his questions state that, the one about Alice (he doesn't know about pretenders) At anyrate people are going to hate on the film so be it, all i know real transformer fan loved it, as do i...i don't know the purpose of these questions other than to belittle the fans the movie was made for.

My theory on the constructicons were they made several of them. Remember they were growing robots but now they're low on energon and they're dying. I assume if they somehow get more energon they could make more Constructicons thus bringing devastator back.

  79. The movie was dumb as hell. Michael Bay has total destroyed the Transformer story. I am a true Transformers Fan, I own over 200 Action figures link back to the Orignals from 1985 whe I was only 7. The first movie I excused, because it was decent. This piece of crap has no excuse. Devastator looks like a crawling pile of crap, and NO! there are not 2 sets of constructicons! The Matrix of Leadership is not found in some cave, and There are more than enough Decepticons out there, so there is no reason to make to sets of constructicons running around. This is suppose to be a Transformers movie, no transformer got any justice, instead we got a movie with a lot of great action, but nothing to back it up.I am thoroughly disappointed in Michael Bay and if you thought that this movie was good, then you know nothing about Transformers, there history, or there legacy. You're just an action junky that likes a lot of bells and wistles, but no meaning, which is exactly what this movie has. Hats off to Michel Bay for F'ing up my childhood.

  81. I loved the movie and it's humor. It is the perfect summer flick. The humor was raunchy but it skipped right over my 6 year old who loves Prime, while my teenagers died laughing. The plot points are mostly in the movie if you pay attention while other issues are resolved in the comics. My one and only issue slash question ,and again I loved the movie, is why do the robots paint look so roughed up in robot mode but looks brand new in vehicle mode? That was the only thing I truly questioned. Otherwise, keep making summer flicks Mr. Bay and I assure you I will keep watching them.

I may be wrong but didnt they first go to the cottage whereever ( I am a foreign) and he can use his own sock on his leg. Sam's roommate is probably a charecter for TF3 this scenes are probably just a introduction for him.we saw fallen with a machine I think he is old for 1 man army thing soundwave can hack other satellite or just go to there or just take info from other etc."Wheelie hump Mikaela's leg" that was for fun. if you play the game in the autobot part there was lots of long houl and rampage and if two robots vehicle mod are the same so do their body I mean there are more than one robots turn into devastators part about military thing, they tried to hide it but it was a stupid act. "Why did the ancient Egyptians build a pyramid around the sun-destroying machines instead of just breaking it?" there were robots who stayed on earth after that prime fight they made humans built it. matrix thing is stupid too.Mikaela's pants stay so clean it was dirty enough because if she didnt fall or sth it is possible.

in any case starscream seemed bored and decided he had better things to do.

but this was a common theme in the movie, chase then unexplained getaway.

  89. The doctor Decepticon had glasses because his other form is a microscope, and the lenses had to go somewere, DUH. It would be more confusing if he didn't have glasses because he wouldn't be able to transform back into a working microscope. all of the other robots transform into working cars and other man-made machines, if he didn't, it wouldn't make sense. Who ever wrote this list is right about some things, but a blind idiot about most of these questions.

  90. I think that while most of us fans are used to the constructicons forming Devastator, they changed it up. If you notice they never give the components of Devastator any name or actual robot modes. The constructions are called by name after Devastator is formed. I think that they are two seperate entities. Devastator is a giant robot who's alternate form is a bunch of vehicles. The toys that are being release seem to confirm this as you can only buy Devastator as vehicles that form together. Good way to make more money off the toys.

Question 11: Who cares. If you read the first book Optimus killed him just after Bonecrusher.

Question 12: Jolt is hanging out with Ratchet, who also just happens to appear later on. He was nowhere to be seen in the opening Shanghai scene.

Question 13: In the showest montage, Sam says that Bumblebee is playing it up. In the first movie when Frenzy comes close to the cube he is completely restored from just a head to a full body. When Bumblebee touches the cube to shrink it I would assume that he gets fully repaired as well. However, he probably just likes the attention and likes using the sound clips.

Everybody keeps bringing up the, "why didn't optimus merge the matrix with his spark." I would assume he can't because merging the Cube (raw power) with his spark would have killed him, which would probably bring about the same results if done with the Matrix.

Its not about the power it has to heal or make the TF's more powerfull its the power to give life.

I'm a die hard TF fan I wore a Devastator tshirt and Im thinking of getting a TF emblem tattoo, but seriously guys you cant just dismiss this movie as a "just a toy line movie" or "its just a alien movie" as an excuse to how bad it was. The writing was just so bad so terrible it was basically non existent. Example why was Optimus the only one to be able to kill the Fallen? Cuz all he did was fly up and shoot him, I didn't know that was a really special thing to do in the autobot ranks? and as mentioned by others why not just call for another one of those MAGICAL rail gun shot to take fallen down? The fallen was standing right where Devastator was, what the rail gun can only be used one time in every TF movie?

bay needs to not make anymore TF movie, because if he does, this is how TF 3 will go.

Script for TF 3 By Micheal BAy:

Sam Mikayla is now living in a apartment in NYC, "trying to forget they know the autobots" oh no another shard is found. More poop shaped meteor falls to earth random autobots fight off random decepticons. prime beats all of them lot of explosions THe END.

    Script for TF 4

Sam and Mikala is now married, Oh no another Shard is found! More Poop shaped Meteor crashes to earth random autobots fight namesless decepticons, prime beats them all, bigger explosions. The End

  96. 3. The sixth contact is Blackout. Remember how he was revived as well? It wasn't actually seen on screen, but we learned of this happening a while ago.

    4. His optics were too small to contain an extremely high range of magnification, so he had the lenses to expand his abilities.

    5. Bumblebee doesn't know she's robotic. What he knows is that she's a homewrecker. Hence the songs 'cheatin' heart' and 'super freak.' I have no answer to his voice, though.

    6. What, do you think all of one's descendants will die when they do? Clearly Optimus Prime was Sparked (for lack of a better term) before the prime he descended from died. As to why the original Prime's didn't kill the Fallen, it clearly stated in the beginning that the Fallen was stronger than his brothers.

    7. I really don't know, but I honestly didn't even notice that until it was noted here, so do I really even care?

    8. I think that robot aliens from a civilization far superior to our own would not be limited by traditional speed capabilities of earthen vehicles. As for the rail gun... who knows? I honestly have no CLUE as to a rail gun's distance capabilities and don't know whether a secret government prototype might be heat seeking. As for Simmons' clearance level, I believe any high up military captain would be marginally informed of the Cybertronian situation enough to know when is a good time to ask questions.

    9. Yah... I dunno. I don't think it was the Well of All Sparks (which I think is where they got the term 'Allspark' for the first movie) so much as it was a vision sent to him by the Primes from beyond the Matrix. I guess it would take a deeper understanding of Transformers lore to catch all that, though.

    10.
    A) Mikaela made the bandage out of her undershirt (it takes a girl to realize that her cami was gone).
    B) Oh, I dunno... maybe he took it off his foot? <.< Nah. There's no WAY that could be it.
    C) He's there for comedic relief, and I think, combined with the twins, he succeeds.
    d) He couldn't do much of anything without Megatron, seeing as how Prime was alive, and clearly he didn't want to take the chance of being killed. He's also probably the only reason Starscream had Frenzy looking for Megs instead of leaving him to rot.
    D) Soundwave is bad-ass like that and knows which sat. to rape. He also probably knew it was a military satellite.
    E) He's a horny little bastard, he digs being dominated, and she's hot. Why else?
    F) I have no answer or comment. My eyes are still burning.
    G) In G1 it wasn't uncommon for alt modes to be duplicated. Especially by Decepticons. Don't even get me STARTED on how many repaints our favorite screechy Air Commander had...
    H) Our weapons DID make dents (worse even. Remember how slagged Megs was in T1 before Sam killed him?), but that aside, clearly our government (as usual) was getting really cocky about just how powerful we are.
    I) Really. Do you honestly think that if our weapons of TODAY were hardly strong enough to cause serious injury to a Cybertronian that our weapons from ANCIENT HISTORY would be able to destroy the sun harvester? Sticks and stones aren't exactly MADE for the job.
    J) It wasn't. I paid specific attention to that when I went to see the movie yesterday after reading these Q's. Sam picks it up and it's about 2x the size of his own hand, while the Fallen picks it up and it's like a strangely shaped marble. Details, man!
    K) Did those REALLY look clean to you? Obviously written by a guy, as it was clearly a dirt resistant material (as most white pants are), and they STILL had a LOT of sand and filth plastered on them.

    ReplyDelete

    Question 2.
The answer seem to be prety obvious to me, just look at the different sizes of the respective shards, megatrons shard was like 10 to 15 inches long maybe, and Sam's was just like a couple of inches long, i guess they needed a lot more energy to bring Optimus Prime back to life than what that piece could have provided. that is why they needed an alternate and bigger source of energy. And why it worked on Jetfire? you may ask.... well simple, he wasn't stabbed on the back and had his chest blown off by a Fusion cannon, he was merely in stasis mode, due to the lack of energon in the planet (which is exactly what the shard had).

    5. Ok so, i just knew someone would say something about alice, first off, there are indeed transformers that look like people, and yes they do have a transforemers comic and cartoon, or more specific anime, since it was mostly japanese, and not shown in the US, just because you didn't saw them doesn't mean they don't exist, anyways they are called PRETENDERS. So there i hope that answers your question. And BlogMaster, i think that maybe you should post something about that in here, actually check out this link http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Pretenders you will find some info about them in there, and even if you search youtube, you will find some of the episodes. I think the name was Transformers Masterforce or something like that. And yes of course if she is to be made to resemble a human, ofcourse she has to weith the same amount a human does. And remember it is not metal as steel as we know it, it is Alien Metal, could be some sort of Aluminum thing or something like that.

    6. Transformers are not born, they are built, the difference between them and the robot without live, is that they have a spark an were given live by the allspark, Optimus being a Prime is as simple as saying that his soul (spark) landed in his body as it could have in any other, but because of fate it chose Optimus's body. Also remember that the rank prime is tipically given to the leader of the Autobots and that Prime is like a Religious title. If you check the comics, before the war, they refer to him only as Optimus, not Optimus Prime. It is a Chosen One kinda thing. The full Expression of the Prime being a Title rank can be seen in the fact that Each Prime is a Derivation of the name Primus: such as Prima, Prime Nova, Sentinel Prime, Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime, you can check all this info at this link: http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Prime_(rank).
And yes Megatron kick his @$$ on the first movie but only because he was not as strong as he is now, remember that he has been training and fighting decepticons for 2 years a perfectly reasonable time for a fighter to become a hole lot better and stronger as he is now. And remember that it is mentioned in the movie that the Fallen was the Stronger Among his brothers. And yes Optimus can beat him because it is not just a normal upgrade he got, remember that he got the power of the Matrix of leadership (yes it was taken from him by the fallen, but remember it cannot be taken, it is earned) plus JetFire is a Seeker with power a bit like the fallens, and also it is known though out all of the transformers legacy that when 2 transformers merge or link up, their power increases 10 fold or much more in the case of Optimus.

7-8 Regarding the Geography, THIS IS A MOVIE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD jeesh, if we were thinking reality everyone would know what are the Autobots and Decepticons since the Transformers saga began in the 80's, it is make pretend people!!!! In reality giant living robots dont exist!!! As long as we know ofcourse, so wouldn't it just make sense that in the Transformers world, Michael Bay's World, the geography could be just like that??? Just because it not a cartoon, and played by actors it doesn't mean it is REAL!!!! or OH NO!!!! the Secret is OUT THE US ARMY HAS A SECRET RAIL GUN!!! that can fire missiles up to a speed of MACH 7, and now the entire world will know about it!!! jeesh

  99. 9. YES ROBOT HEAVEN, we don't even know if a human heaven does exist, have any of you seen it yet? 'Cause for all i now it is just something another person HUMAN!!! person made up to make us all feel good and pretty about dying, we could as well just reencarnate when we dye. THEY ARE ALL THEORIES!!! But well since you are all craving for an explanation, here we go (and yes, this the real thing in the Transformers universe, i am not making this up): once upon a time there was ONE single God how created 2 gods: Primus and Unicron, Unicron wants to destroy it all but Primus wants everything to be peacefull, long story short, they are locked in planets, Unicron transforms the planet in to a metal planet, and knowing that he cant be left behind, Primus does the Same thing, Once that is done, Unicron Starts to learn to transform his metal planet self in to a giant robot, but this time primus does something different, he creates the 1st 13 transformers from when one of them is the fallen. So there you go the begining of transformers. And if there are robot Gods, then it just makes sense to be a robot heaven, where all the sparks go when they get extinguished.

    10. -Maybe they had a first aid kit, i don't know you but if I were to be involved in a giant robot war, i would like to have something to cover my scratches when i get hurt.
-'Cause it WILL happen. extra sock? anyone would have liked to see Sam's hairy feet?? I just know i had enough disgusting skin with Simmons's ass. I would say that was edited. or would you have prefered to have spent 5 extra minutes in the teather just looking at Sam taking his shoes off, taking the sock and then putting them back on??
-Leo is a Gerk. And he contributed, he got them to Robowarrior and also distracted the guards with his bathroom act.
-In the Comics you can see he was trapped in some sort of Phantom zone.
    - It is not just a simple satellite, it got an instant upgrade when Soundwave linked with it... ALIEN TECH RULES!!!!
    - Because she is HOT!!!Who wouldn't do it!!! you would have to be gay not to... I know i would if given the chance, and die happy.
    - No answer to that one... should be thank full he was wearing underwear in the first place!!! could have been leopard.... ewwwwww
    - Seemed to me Devastator was not your tipical devastator formed by Constructions but a single entitly separated in those vehicles in the first place but he was so big, that had to devide his self it to those vehicles to be disguised on here.
    - Ofcourse they were able to damage them!!! well at least the tanks did. The reason why the US military was the only one fighting them is because they are EVERYWERE. just look behind you!!! Ooops you missed him, they hide way to fast. And because, US army RULES!!!
    - Really don't think they could have destroyed something harder than anything they knew or had. DAMN Egiptians from hundreds of years ago!!! should have used their Rail Guns to destroy it, or maybe they thought that it would be to harmfull to the environment to use an A-bomb.... So why not just hide it. OR how about this.... remember the seekers were here milenia ago??? How about they told them to build them or they would squash them.... they could as well be the "Gods" of ancient egypt.
    - The Matrix is like the Allspark can change size depending on who has it, and remember that when it is taken out from Optimus it is still small.
-If you were a particle of dirt would you be attaching your self to her clothes or her skin?? bet her entire but was filty and not to mention the cracks and stuff....

So i Hope this clears most of you questions.

  100. to sum it up in a nutshell, this movie was like the old cartoon. clones of other characters, plot holes, etc. i still enjoyed it though.

the fans wanted more robots and more action, and you got it, at the expense of other things.

don't blame bay and co. blame yourself for wanting to much.

  101. this writer is just looking for ways to extend his writing every one of his questions can be answered. Look at scalan15's comment he answers every single question. he actually knows what he is talking about unlike the writer.

  102. Wow truly this movie left TRUE Transformers fans speechless.....ok ok yes its just a "Movie" but at least follow some of the storyline like the first one did. Come on now DEVASTATOR looked so horrible and jetfire found in a museum...no way...so much wrong...if you knew nothing about the Transformers then this movie was a number 1 hit but if you do know then this movie was truly a dissapointment!!!!!

I kinda agree with this guy/girl. To be frank, the 2nd movie was as good as the 1st one, neither better nor worse. Suggestions for Bay making the 3rd movie:
1.If they are more new robots coming, put more screen time for them(I noticed the new autobots in the 2nd movie didn't have much screen timing)and character development.
2.Don't put too many robots until the viewers can't tell who's who.
3.If the movie still needs more time in consideration to make, don't rushed it.
I think I have said enough. Wish you all the best Bay!!!

I just got one BIG question... What the hell happened to Wheelie?!?!? It goes with the rest of the guys to Egypt, and u can see it "landing" with them, and suddenly, he mysteriously disappears!!!! From that moment to the end u never saw it again!!!!! THATS THE MOST GREAT MISTERY EVER ON TRANSFORMERS!!!!!
