T-1000 Easter Egg

Michael Bay has made it clear in comments made in the special features for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and in various media interviews that he held much disdain for Terminator Salvation's McG for his use of suspiciously Transformer like robots in his film. As a sign of that, here is an image captured by IloveMcG that illustrates a dig at the film by apparently labeling one of the cannon fodder Decepticons in the desert battle with "T1000", the classic name for the original Terminator model.

Update: As pointed out in the comments I had my Terminator models confused. The T-1000 is the classic villain Terminator played by Robert Patrick in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The T-800 is the Arnold Schwarzenegger's role as the villain in Terminator 1 and hero for T2. For Terminator 3, he was the "'850 series Model 101', a 'T-850', and a 'T-101'". Long story short, T-1000 is appropriate name for a Decepticon when taking a dig at the Terminator franchise since both are bad guys.

  2. And in Terminator 3, Arnold said that his model was the T-X. So now I'm really confused because in the TF2 directors commentary, Bay said that when he walked by the ILM work station, the tech said that the robot he was working on for the Terminator 4 movie was a T-1000, even though that is clearly wrong. Maybe he was throwing Bay off a bit so as not to get in trouble by telling him what he was really working on.

  3. The TX was the female Terminator. The Terminator in the first Terminator film was a T-101

  4. yea if you listen to the commentary michael explains this he goes on to say that "you see that robot right there, that one that runs up and gets dropped like a bitch. if you look closely i put a t-1000 on his arm because i was walking into ilm and i saw a robot on the screen of a computer and asked him what it was and he turned it off and i said no no, let me see.. i saw a robot on the screen what was that? and the designer said it was for terminator 4 and michael laughed that it was exactly like his robots except his could kick all the terminators asses"

  5. The terminator in the first movie was a T-800 model 101. The 800 is the model number of the exoskeleton. The 101 is the outer skin model. In the second and third movie the terminator was a more advanced model T-850 model 101 meaning more advanced exoskeleton but same outer skin.

Anyway, this is a transformers blog. I'm still waiting for my copy of ROTF to arrive. In Europe, it will be available in 2 more weeks.

  8. Chances are that ILM dude didn't quite know the Terminator universe so well and neither did Bay. When he heard the animator say T1000, he assumed the model number was correct.

  9. I'm from The Netherlands, so I have to wait, region B, region A from USA will not play here, I don't know if my PS3 is regionfree.

Anyway, I have the patience to wait 3 more weeks, the bit more wait makes it more fun to watch again. First ofcourse I will watch TF1 again.

    Live is good. Transformers rule!!!!!

  10. Hey Daniel-san,

Thanks, I also just checked by surching on google the sites dvdcompare.net/comparisons and bluray.liesinc.net. PS3 is indeed region free, except for some of the games, depends on developer. U.S PS3 NTSC is 480i, European PS3 PAL is 576i.
Next problem, I don't have a creditcard, costs to much for the few times I will buy something. Maybe for those exclusive blu-ray's worth to consider.

Pease out from Holland Daniel-san, Transformers 4ever!!!
