Bay: Twins Not Back (Updated)

If needed one last sign that Transformers 3 is in full production, now we have it with Michael Bay appearing in his forums after a long hiatus. Yesterday videos and report from Transformers 3 set in downtown LA said that the Twins vehicles were spotted thus they have a role (of unknown scope) in Transformers 3. Bay replied to this news with a simple message.
The Twins are not back in T3.
This could mean they make no appearance whatsoever to having only a brief cameo appearance. Who knows (which is part of the speculating fun) but this will have to put the Twins out of the Transformers cast list until new verifiable information contradicts it since this is as official as a source can get (but one that likes to have fun with fans). Consider the waters officially muddied and don't see it getting any clearer any time soon.

Update: Just a brief update on why don't entirely take Michael Bay at his word. While Transformers 2 was in post-production, he told Empire Magazine print edition, "No, Megatron isn't in the sequel" but several months later confirmed he was. He also indicated during TF2 production a desire to engage in a "misinformation campaign". I see no reason why he would not continue to do that for TF3. It just means that even though he is an official source, his information cannot be taken as gospel; just as something to fuel the speculation like any other non-official source.

  1. Maybe the Twins as on Transformers2 are not back.. maybe the same characters turned evil... they are now Autobots renegades working with Decepticons and killing humans....
    It would fit with a darker more horror like tone for Transformers3...

  2. Maybe Bay is lieing? I mean this isn't the first time he did. (saying megatron not in TF2 back in 2008)

  3. is there anyone who believes what this guy is saying? (in my opinion, misinformating your potential audience about your own movie is a pretty silly thing to do)

  4. "Misinformating" isn't a word. "Misinforming" is.

    I hope the twins get shot into the sun in the opening credits of tf3.

  5. Given all the controversy over the twins in the last movie I can't see how Paramount would even let Bay use them. Personally I think it will be an improvement. The twins had a good moment or two, but I'd much rather see the other characters (like Sideswipe or Jolt) take a more prominent role.

  6. they are going to return as the beloved Sun Streaker and Side Swipe...they will be mature(im assuming around early "20s" ages) after the last fight with the fallen and will be well liked and loved.

  7. Saw TF3 filming near me. Ratchet was driving down the street chasing after a green and black Porsche Carrera GT with small spikes attached to the rims and hood.

    @RazerSlash:
    Are you for real? That would be awesome, a Porsche Carrera GT, we already have a Ferrari F458 Italia.
    Carwise TF3 is getting awesome, but it doesn't necessarily mean they get a lot of screenplay, like they did with Sideswipe.
    I hope we get see some more soon!

  13. I bet the twins went black in order to blend in more, with the whole "GTFO Aliens" thing going on.
