TF3: Optimus Prime, Repainted Ratchet, and Ironhide Spotted (Updated)

A relatively new images was found by Waveride with Optimus Prime and Ratchet in a flatbed. The image and tweet from Staci424 says "Look what was parked at th lake this wkend. Its vehicles from the Transformers movie! He is a driver for Paramount." Ratchet seems to have undergone a color change switching out his yellow for "lime-flavored toothpaste" as Christopher described it when he provided the link (thanks!).

Additional tweets from Staci provides another image and a little background. Apparently the images were taken in Oklahoma as the driver was passing through on the way to a road show in Texas. Not sure what to make of the color change but it at least verifies that both characters are in the movie (as if there was any real doubt).

Update: Added picture of Ironhide from shalim with message "Check out these transformers trucks cruising on the 405. By the engraved Decepticon logo, it must be from the film." I believe he is referring to Interstate 405 (San Diego Freeway) in California and meant the Autobot logo. Link provided from the comments.

  1. Hm, Ratchet. Not sure if I like this. Optimus looks a bit different somehow, too... Or am I up too late?

  3. No, you're not too late, Miss M. Possible. Optimus Prime's peterbilt mode has this time shorter exhaust pipes. But anything else hasn't changed. Except his robot mode of course.

  4. Yea, i dont like the new ratchet either, the color was freakin ugly!

Optimus prime looks the same to me.

  5. I'm sure the stacks are taken down for transport. The missing stainless covers around the fifth wheel area may be he has a trailer this time out? The only thing different I can see so far the flames added to the sleeper.

  6. The exhaust pipes could be off for transport. Maybe to tall while on the trailer?

  7. I think they changed Ratchet to be more of a fire fighting vehicle, and They look to be covering the lettering/logos

  8. dont care what colour ratchet is aslong as he has something to do this time round. It would be nice to actually see him being a medic!

  9. Why are Optimus Prime and Ratchet being transported, while poor Ironhide has to go on wheels?

I don't like the new colors of Ratchet either. He should stay yellow, or else make him white/red like in G1.

But I'm very pleased to see they get spotted now en we get to enjoy that!

  16. Optimus's exhaust pipes were removed for the transport. The same thing happened for earlier photos of Optimus in traffic.

  17. Prime doesn't have shorter exhaust pipes; they've just removed the top part while in transit.

  18. It looks like the top section of Primes pipe were remove for clearance reasons while on the back of the flatbed. Otherwise they would be too tall. I'm sure they'll be put back on once he off the trailer.

  19. optimus has secretly changed to that carrier truck HA!

  20. They could have removed his exhaust towers for transport.

  21. how do we know that the "Ironhide" trucks are the real deal? you know some people do make their own replicas of movie cars. especially in Cali.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It is very unlikely that those are replicas of the Ironhide trucks from the films, especially since they are two identical trucks. Wonder why they decided to change Ratchet's colors though, because otherwise he looks the same as far as I can tell. I'm not necessarily disappointed, but it seems so arbitrary. I hope there will be some sort of reason for the change at least.

Oh, and just in case anyone doesn't know, they probably removed the tops of the exhausts on Optimus for transport.

  23. awesome update, this gets me excited, let the speculation begin!

  24. I could be wrong on this but...

I believe Ratchet and Optimus Prime are not state registered vehicles and therefore not able to be driven out on public roads and highways outside of the movie. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong?

Ironhide, on the other hand, is an actual series of vehicles that were only slightly modified but still road-registered Topkick 4x4s that can travel on any highway without being pulled over. Looks like the rear plates were photoshopped out.

Examples of others that can only be transported via trailer: Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Jolt...

Curious though why Barricade and Jazz could not be just driven around, but possible they also were not state registered vehicles.

Highway laws are weird like that.

  25. Ironhide is really big ;)

  26. I'm guessing whether they carry or drive them has to do with how far they are going.

Also on Barricade (and possibly Ratchet too), there are laws that vary from state to state on how much a civilian vehicle can look like a cop car.

Can everybody stop saying why Prime pipes are removed for transport, jeez.

@LionBoogy, is that for real, state registered? What lame ass rule is that?
I'm from The Netherlands and if I wanna drive in my car through Europe, I can.
Btw, how's the new suit coming along?

I had this great big nice reply to Martinus Prime and I lost it by clicking too far! :(

But yes, I most likely will bring back Bumblebee in 2011. Hopefully after I see more pictures! :)

I hate losing my replies... I don't feel like typing them all up again... :(

  30. Just a thought about the "IronHides" on the road, they may not even have anything what so ever to do with the movie. it could be an owners group getting together... remember they did offer the package through the dealerships, kind of like the Roush and Saleen Mustangs, you get through dealer but its put together be a 3rd party. I know we have a few of them here in Texas
