Transformers 3's Friday Return to Chicago

Friday brought the return of Transformers 3 to Chicago along Michigan Avenue aka the Magnificent Mile. It seems that Friday was mostly a low key day of filming with the actors, which now includes Josh Duhamel, running all over the set to film scenes along the spectacularly devastated street in front of the Wrigley Building. Apparently much of the action and pyrotechnics is going to occur on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully the live streams will continue to allow us to catch some of that action.

Thanks to Colin Hinkle below is a fantastic video that shows a scene being filmed involving Bumblebee, Shia LaBeouf, and Rosie Huntington-Whitely among the rubble as they go running to the car for a quick escape. Click here for his other video from last week's shoot with shows all the Transformers vehicles driving by as they film a scene. On top of that he provided the below images of the set on fire, the crew prepping, Patrick Dempsey, Shia, Rose, and Michael Bay on set and more.

Also below are links to a news report from WGN TV that shows Chicagoans are taking the traffic and pedestrian issues in stride, Seibertron's seven videos that show a little bit of the set and Ratchet in action along with their 245 image gallery.

  1. The picture of Bay with an iPad is awesome! Where can I find a higher quality version?

  2. Wow, from the look of things the Decepticons are really serious this time around (in the last movie they all seemed kind of like a joke to me).

  3. @"Anonymous 7/17/2010 9:44 AM"--The Fallen and Devastator killed thousands of soldiers on Transformers2 actually.. they were not a joke.

  4. Yes anno9:46, but the decepticons still didn't feel like a big threat to me. Just think of how easily Demolisher and Sideways were killed of by the autobots in the opening scene. In the end they were just like some rodent pest that needed to be wiped from the streets. I mean, it should have been a real struggle for Optimus to finish off Demolisher. An I don't care how many human soldiers The Fallen supposedly killed, he stilled looked like a joke to me.

  6. @"Anonymous 7/17/2010 10:29 AM"--Optimus got killed during the forest battle.. Even when Sam brought him back to life as the Primes ordered and allowed him to Optimus was still too weak and The Fallen stole the Matrix that Sam used to bring him back... If that wasn't enough struggle to fight Decepticons for you.. was that a joke then? Jetfire had to sacrifice himself and give his body to Optimus in order to let him win against The Fallen... it would have been boring if Optimus had to be in a struggle again after the powerup of Seekers power.. the quick fight against The Fallen had to be quick at that point.

  7. the decepticons didnt feel like that much of a threat the guy is right, devastator couldnt even kill the twins, leo or simons and that is a bad joke. Devastator just looked like a joke. The fallen was a random villain. Michael bay even said the fallen was fucked, his words not mine. Last time the soldiers had to use 40mm sabot grenades, this time they just use bullets, it was just ridiculous. If you stopped defending everything bad about revenge of the fallen michael bay might actually bother to make a good movie.

  9. Not to change the subject from all of the pointless bickering, but I got to watch the webcams for a few hours today and saw some pretty cool stuff.

There were a couple of really big explosions that were filmed, and several takes with the NASCAR vehicles zooming down the street. Also some less actiony stuff like the NEST soldiers running down the street and around buildings.

This is the first time I've really gotten to see filmmaking live and it's awesome that those who are providing the live feeds are doing so. There should be some more action tomorrow, and hopefully get to see some more Autobots.

  11. I really don't like Bumblebee's new racing stripes. They are too far apart and just don't look right.
