New Autobot Arrives and More Boom

A new Autobot has been spotted as Transformers 3 production moves to Chicago's Old Post Office Building. Collecticon.org has posted the left image of a sporty and stylish red Rosenbaurer Panther airline fire truck (and more here) that I am sure many fire departments would love to drive. Other then the sleek look, the Autobot logo on the passenger door is what identifies this as a Transformer alt mode. As the first two videos (below) found by Seibertron show the new Autobot joining Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Ironhide as they respond to something. The third video, via TFW2005, is yet another angle of the truck during the scene.

Now you are thinking this character is Inferno, the fire truck from G1 cartoon but Nelson has already rejected that theory, "And it's not Inferno, Hot Spot, or Pyro. You'll see." He further teased, "I think fandom will faint when they find out who this fire truck is. It's going to be like when people saw Optimus Prime for the first time--with flames. I really hope they don't reveal the name until the movie premieres." The current fan favorite theory seems to be Ultra Magnus.

Also below is a video with some time lapse, behind the scenes footage, NEST troops in action, and explosions including a new angle on the bus explosion as TF3 production worked at State and Wacker this weekend. If that isn't enough boom, the last video is more footage from filming at Hotel 71 from last week. Thanks to Ray and Greg for the links.

Update: Added note about type of fire truck from the comments.

  1. The Alt mode looks like a OSHKOSH STRIKER 3000. It's an Airport Firetruck. (friends with Silverbolt?)

  3. i'm a little shocked it's not inferno...however being the last of these movies bay's gotta pull fan favorites out and ultra magnus would be awesome! now where's omega?!

  4. Yup. Definitely Ultra Magnus. Although I must say, he's a little slow on turns...

  5. IRONHIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!

  6. Im thinkin its Ultra Magnus!! yay! Also some people have been thinkin that it might be grimlock, hope not and i dont see him as a firetruck anyway

  7. about ironhide being spotted, it looks like the scene that theyre filming in the vids, doesnt look like a big fight/chase scene. It might be filmed in chicago now but in the movie that spot the vehicles are pulling into could be anywhere & not the final battle. Could be used as someplace early in the film before ironhide dies since thats what people thinks gonna happen to him.

  8. I wonder if these scenes come before or after the ones we've already seen

  9. this might be kinda random but in this forum nelson just said "No Jolt." when someone asked if he would be in the 3rd movie

  10. So its almost apparent that almost everyone makes it the the final act

  11. Nelson in that thread posted something about "what makes you think its male". If it is a female, it is one big mama for sure. He probably posted that just to throw us off the trail.

  13. that fire truck is INFERNO ... ULTRA MAGNUS is a car carrier....

  14. that thing is enormous it gonna make Optimus look like Bumblebee

Read the article, Nelson already said it's not Inferno.

Jazz was a Porsche, Ironhide and Ratchet were vans, Bumblebee was a VW bug, Starscream was an F-15....etc...etc.....the argument for alt modes matching G1 went out the window 4 years ago bub.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @rod - Bay changes EVERYONE from theyre original looks! whether it be their color or vechile mode so you cant base it off the original looks

    ReplyDelete
  17. This doesnt make sense man. Nelson does not want to pay any attention from g1. My speculation is Inferno. Ultra Magnus was never a fire truck. He was a car carrier. Hopefully Nelson will change his mind.

  18. Nelson doesn't make any descisions. He just reports the information, runs the MB website, and is supposidly his focus puller. It's not Inferno and many Transformers have many alt modes in different series and comics. Wow....thick headed.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ultra Magnus wasn't a car carrier in Transformers Animated.

So it's not a far stretch to believe this fire truck could be Ultra Magnus. Or at least a significantly large Autobot team leader.

  20. Ok so if you think that is Rodimus that puts the question to rest that the Fararri is NOT Hot Rod. Why? For they are both in the same video above. If you notice the Fararri drives in first. So If its Rodimus, Then whos the Fararri?

Cant have Rodimus without Hotrod. Thats like Coleslaw without Mayo. Cheech without Chong.

  21. Hope i don't get blasted for this but thats not an Oshkosh.

I'm a firefighting historian, photographer, and researcher. That rig is a Rosenbauer Stinger. You can tell by the logo on the side.

It's an ARFF(Aircraft rescue fire fighting) truck, used for, as stated, aircraft fires mostly.

To the best of my knowledge, CFD-O'hare does however use Oshkoshes.

Not sure what if anything it means, but i hope that clears up a lil.

  22. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Firestar. She was a pickup truck and if Nelson says that its a female, Firestar could be it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. im wanting to say rodimus only for the fact of the hint with flames part.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think Rodimus too, with Optimus getting flames I guess he lost his, and I think the R emblem could signify something other than Rescue

  25. Anon of 8/02/2010:

    OH WOW! Good catch!

    http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Firestar

Yeah I'm actually kinda convinced this could be Firestar. She is indeed a very big red truck with rescue capabilities next to Ratchet. It'd be awesome if she was voiced by Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway of Star Trek Voyager) but that'd be stretching my fandom. haha

    ReplyDelete
  26. i think the fire truck's too big for hot rod/rodimus
it might be ultra magnus with a weird paint-do, or some other way forgotten TF, like mudflapp, chromia, or even rollbar

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nelson Said that

"I think fandom will faint when they find out who this fire truck is. It's going to be like when people saw Optimus Prime for the first time--with flames"

People hated the flames, I mean they hated them. The boards were tearing up Bay badly for the flames? Dont you remember Bay saying on the DVD Extra? Why did I put flames on the Truck? I wanted too!"

Why do I feel its not going to be a good thing.

Ultra Magnus would be good. Inferno even better.

But at this rate. We will just have to see.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm going to go with the Firestar theory.

Fans are going to go CRAZY MAD if they find out IT'S A WOMAN FROM SOME OBSCURE PART OF TRANSFORMERS HISTORY. hahaha

And Michael Bay would be like... dudes, chill. What's wrong with women in fighting roles?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thats a huge bitch!

    HOLY S*it its Big foot!

    Bahemouth!

    ReplyDelete
  30. who cares if its ultra magnus. id rather bay pull out the big shots like ultra magnus than inferno.but rodimus sounds like a better possibility.

  32. Who ever stated that the R's on the side stood for something, they don't. They are just the logos on the sides of all Rosenbauer Stinger panthers. Obviously the R is for Rosenbauer.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just a thought Guys - could the floating red head from last week be this 'bot?

    ReplyDelete
  34. perhaps it might be primes new vehicle mode, (for some unknown reason) i think he had a fire truck mode at somepoint?

    ReplyDelete
  35. out of curiosity, what if the firetruck is optimus prime? in the videos you know long see optimus truck anymore. Either something has happened to him or he has taken on a new form of a fire truck

    ReplyDelete
  36. I hope is ultra magnus...........

    ReplyDelete
  37. It's Magnus because I just realized that the firetruck is red and a dark dull blue and not black like it first looked so its Magnus now where is blaster and springer

  38. why do i keep coming back to this site---I want this movie to surprise me like the first one...you know what that's it--I'M NOT COMING BACK TO THIS SITE UNTIL JANUARY 2ND 2010. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  39. @ anon. I keep thinking the samething, but I don't want to come back till Jan 2nd 2011. I know what you meant, just giving you crap.

Also, why does this ray guy keep getting credit for my videos?

    ReplyDelete
  40. i'm not coming back till jan 2nd 2009!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. HAI YUU GAIZ FROM 2009, I'M FROM THE FUTURE.

    haha

You know, if it's Firestar and it's voiced by a feisty lady like Kate Mulgrew, dude... DUDE. HELL YEAH. The wiki says she has the nicest ass of all the Autobot ladies.

    I'm just saying. ^_^

  42. its ultra magnus and the fararri is hot rod megatron dies at the begining shockwaves not the villion its unicron...bay put shockwave in thinking that it will save the film frome that top model.........optimus dies again hes not coming back because nelson admits that he knows its not optimus prime with those basterd flames. they should have made a G1 film instead of these horroble designs.....

    ReplyDelete
  43. why do these video posters add background music?

its as annoying as a shaky camera.

    ReplyDelete
  44. @optimusa4

HAHA, thanks for the critique. I put it in there because the opening part had either 45 seconds of silence, music, or white noise in time laps. Since I live above a fire department the time lapse noise was out, and it was too long to put just silence. I guess I could have left it out for the rest of the video, but I like that song, so I left it in. I tried my best on the non shaky camera part though.

  45. At this point, I am not believing a single thing that anybody from Michael Bay's camp sais. For all we know, it could be another mis-information campaign. So I'm sticking by my first guess that it's Inferno.

    ReplyDelete
  46. As of now I'm sticking with my theory of it being Firestar. I'm not sure if anyone agrees with me on that one besides LionBoogy but I'm sure everyone would be suprised as hell if she showed up in the movie.

  47. OMEGASUPREME.....Metroplex.....Laserbeak

  48. Why are people still going on about the new designs of the first movie? Bay is being realistic. There arent any flat nose semis out there. when was the last time you saw an ambulence based on a van? you didnt even see that in the U.S. even the robots after they transformed would look cheezy in real life if they were designed after the cartoon...nothing but a bunch of boxes really.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Martinus Prime8/04/2010 3:43 PM

    @aono above:
In all of Europe, almost all the trucks are flatnose semis, used for industrial purposes that is, because of the smaller highways I think. There are very few torpedo-nose semis in Europe.
And almost all ambulances of the hospitals in The Netherlands are base on Chevy vans. At least the big ones with all medical equipment, for smaller incidents they use a Mercedes "caddy", based on an E-model I think.

I hope fireruck is Ultra Magnus.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Martinus Prime is correct. European and Asian countries have very different vehicle designs than the American counterparts. That said, it's no wonder why they hold more sentimental value to the older G1 style designs than us Americans.

    Culture shock. ^_^

But remember, Michael bay is VERY American, as you can see in most of his movies, he proudly displays the American flag many times. So you kind of have to go with that.

    ReplyDelete
  51. What if Optimus Prime gets a new alt mode after being damaged/repaired? Prime was a firetruck in several of the cartoon series. Bumble changes his alt mode in the first film so why can't Prime?

    ReplyDelete
  52. "I think fandom will faint when they find out who this fire truck is. It's going to be like when people saw Optimus Prime for the first time--with flames"

I will go out on a limb and say they incorporate this firetruck as Grimlock to be Prime's 2nd in command. No evidence or rhyme or reason as to why, other than the old writers (Kurtzman and Orci) saying it'd be fun to incorporate the Dinobots. Of course, having living and breathing Dinosaurs is a tad unrealistic in 2010.

What would piss off the fans more than taking the iconic Grimlock and turning him into a firetruck?

Personally, I love G1 but think it's ridiculous that some people are so tied to G1 incarnations. I would be all for making Grimlock a firetruck. I think Grimlock was one of the few Autobots bigger than Prime. So why the hell not?!

    Debate away.

  53. Counterpunch8/06/2010 3:32 PM

It could be Hot Spots. That would be awesome to see 2 Autobot combiner teams.

    First we have Silverbolt.

    Now this. Phew...

If both Superion and Defensor make the cut this is it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hi again Counterpunch :)

If they do that then maybe Unicron is more likely if the Autobots have tons of Combiner robots.

    ReplyDelete
  55. It's an alternate mode for Optimus Prime!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. The fire truck is Sentinel Prime. Optimus Prime's father
