Transformers 4 Officially Wraps Principle Photography

This time its official per a tweet from Michael Bay.
Filming on Transformers: Age of Extinction may be complete but the work is only half done for Michael Bay and his crew as they enter the post-production phase. While the director has been editing the movie as he films and ILM has probably been working on the movie the entire time, at this point things shift into another gear as the June 27th deadline looms. Eight months seems like a lot but the more special effects a movie has, the more time it needs. On top of completing the CGI, there is recording the soundtrack, sound design, sound effects, voice recording, ADR, color correction and a whole lot more. All of which needs Bay's approval at every step of the way. The last time TF3 was complete the day of world premiere, I doubt Bay wants a repeat.

Congrats to the cast and crew. Also a big thanks to all the site readers who helped provides pictures, video, links and updates on the movie so we could follow along.

  1. I beleive DOTM was actually finished in late-May. In mid-May AICN's Capone saw a version that had some unfinished VFX shots and incomplete sound mixing and design (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/49648). The movie was close enough to being finished that Bay felt comfortable showing it to people not associated with the production.

  2. Wooo ooo :)) thank you Bay!! And to all you idiots saying he raped your childhood or ruined TFs for you well u know what... get a life and stop hating cuz for all i know without Bay THEY WOULD BE NO live action movies... and yes you can call your Nolans, Camerouns or even Lucas and Spielberg himself, at they end of the day none of dose would have portray TF G1 inspired like Micheal.. Thats my opinion, thank you, cant wait to see Galvatron hehe

ROTF was completed on world premiere day (too), bc of the writer's strike. I thought DOTM was completed a bit earlier, but I'm not sure.
    I didn't see the extra's, since I don't have the stupid 3D edition, f@cking Paramount.

    1. I got the limited edition collector's trilogy which included the DOTM 3-D version (which I haven't watched - no 3-D TV), DOTM blu-ray & the DOTM extra's. It was a Christmas gift, I wouldn't have spent that much for movies I already owned.
I really hate the way studios try to eff us out of as much cash as possible with DVD releases, only including certain content on certain versions so fans have to buy multiples in order to get all of the bonus content. I'm willing to pay for all of the bonus content but I shouldn't have to buy a movie 3-4 times in order to get it.

  4. Looking fwd to the 1st teaser-as well as seeing more of the robot designs and footage from the film!!! Skeptically optimistic-but I have my creative abilities and G1 boxset to counter any possible disappointments, IF they occur.

  5. Let's hope this is not going to be another lazy work like Transformers3 just was. ILM best CGI and overall work to date is that on Pacific Rim. Will Michael Bay able to force ILM to deliver something better than that for Transformers4 ? Or will they just re-use CGI models and the movie will have no all new long actions scenes and fights ? That is the big question.
If Michael Bay manages to release a movie that is not boring and feels all new and outstanding then no matter the hate, it will become a cult classic and will give Hasbro more money too selling toys. Transformers2 is hated on the internet but actually loved by real people in the real world, and Hasbro as well as Paramount know that very well.. they counted the hundreds millions in profits that movie generated with the highest merchandise, toys, DVD and Blu-Ray disc sales. For Transformers2 they even had a limited numbered series of silver coins for Megatron and Optimus Prime in Australia.... if anyone remembers that.
Transformers3 was lazy, rushed, cheap at every level. The idea was good but the execution was not.
Transformers4 needs to be outstanding again. No matter the hate on blogs and forums that mean absolutely nothing. The fact that Transformers3 is the most loved on forums and blogs but the one that generated less profits to Hasbro and Paramount with less toys sold and less DVD/Blu-Ray discs sold should be enough proof already...

You're the guy who whined and whined when Megan Fox got fired, welcome back.

    2. Lol... I was thinkin the same.

    3. What is "Aredo" ? Are you obsessed with that nickname ?
I have no clue what you are talking about nor who you are obsessed with..
And accusing people on blogs comments of being someone else using whatever nickname you might refer to makes no sense at all when you are posting anonymously yourself.
I don't get if you want to look smart here or what...
You don't know me and I don't know you. So what ? I don't use nicknames on the 'net, either I post anonymous or I don't.
Maybe you are the one obsessed with Megan Fox too here.
Surely you are the one whining a lot.

    4. Aredo loves Shakespeare11/06/2013 8:40 AM

That you responded so vigorously suggests that I have identified you correctly.
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks" - Hamlet, act III, scene II.

    5. @Aredo loves Shakespeare: you just proved being a silly obsessed guy. You identified who, what ? So you are going to tell that Ray writing below would be this Aredo nickname too ? And who are you writing anonymously attacking people here, accusing others of being this or that ?
      Really ?

  6. Just a spelling heads-up, it's 'principal' in this context. ;)
Anyway, interesting times ahead. The countdown to the first teaser starts here...

  7. I'm just looking forward to the robots and the fights. I know with Kruger writing it the dialog will be terrible and scenes filled with unnecessary jokes. Hopefully the don't waste CG on stupid things like the igor bots from the last movie. I like Michael Bay and his vision for action but hire some good writers for once!!!

    1. Kruger is not up to the task. He has great ideas but with Transformers3 and him alone he couldn't deliver. The whole production was messed up anyway. However for Transformers2 despite the flaws with Orci&Kurtzman and Kruger too writing the whole movie flowed better, didn't feel boring..and Michael Bay put a lot of effort there delivering never seen before action scenes and ensured that ILM did an outstanding job CGI wise. With Transformers3 they had a better idea script wise but the execution sucked.

    2. Sorry but I gotta strongly disagree here. DOTM was a lot better film than ROTF. Outside of the Forest Battle that movie was a train wreck from start to finish, the writer's strike really hurt that film.

    3. I still like Transformers the best...DOTM was a great movie and that is a close second for me. I love the plot lines and visually..the CGI was stunning. I really liked ROTF, but this falls into 3rd place for me. The Fallen was a weak and disappointing character, but you can't beat the forest battle or the battle between Bee and Rampage...that was a great one too! People are ripping the writing of these movies. Come on...we are talking about alien robots invading Earth...these are not going to be all time classic movies like Tommy Boy and Billy Madison (I know there are really serious people on this blog...this was meant to be tongue and cheek)

  8. I really like the core ideas for all three of the movies so far but the writing has been dreadful, absolutely dreadful.
The only good writing Kruger has done is The Ring and that was a remake of a japanese movie, which itself was an adaptation of a japanese novel.

    2. Please be only production names!

    3. I think they are. I guess slinghsot could stick, but the rumor has been crosshairs for a while. I dont see the Sonic being rally lol

    4. Sonic has appeared rarely. He might really die AOE. I even knew Ironhide dying in DOTM, because he wasn't in shootings of Chicago Battle.

    1. Dudemus:l have an idea that we will see it around the superbowl. Why? Because that event draws so much national and international attention. The most watched sporting event. Possibly tease us during mid-december then throw the first trailer during the event. It worked great for DOTM. May just become commom place for the franchise throughout the rest of the series. Just my opinion, makes sense to me that's all.

  14. I think it should be a short teaser trailer around xmas, then a teaser trailer at superbowl, then official trailer at the end of march. There should be a trailer at the opening ceremony of the world cup that kind of exposure would be crazy!
