Transformers 4 Super Bowl Teaser Set for 30 Seconds

While Michael Bay has confirmed that the first teaser trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction is coming on Super Bowl Sunday (2/2/14), Deadline has now provided the length. At a record $4 million price tag, Paramount as bought a single 30 second slot. In the past, after a commercial airs on during the game it becomes available online so see little reason that would change here, especially since the goal is to announce the movie to the widest audience possible in the States (last year's game audience was 108 million).

    2. That's just common knowledge that pretty well anyone that has followed the movies over the years already knew

    2. I don't mind paramount bringing in Michael Bay for the fifth and Sixth transformers franchise because he has been doing it for a while now, yeah he did ruin the second and third as most of you say but he is the only one who can bring the epic explosions in the film.I personally Thought that transformers ROTF and DOTM where awesome and I did grow up with G1 series but this is now the live action movie so that changes everything.I'm really hoping transformers five and six takes a direction toured space and forgets about earth and if that happens i think JJ Abrams or James Cameron could take over for Michael Bay if he dosn' t return. But I'm really hoping the teaser trailer for Transformers Age Of Extinction turns out awesome and gets me enthusiastic for the fourth installment.

I for one don't think Bay ruined DOTM and ROTF could be better, but due to the writer's strike, Bay did the best he could, though it was a bit too long. There were parts where nothing was going on.

Cameron will never take over the TF franchise. He only makes 1 mo vie in 5 tot 10 years and says he is developping Avatar 2, so he will be busy the next 10 to 20 years doing Avatard sequels.

JJ Abrams would be awesome, but Christopher Nolan, Matt Reeves, Peter Berg, Bryan Singer, Matthew Vaughn or D.J. Caruso would do a great job. And I think Jeff Wadlow will become a great action director too.
We'll see what happens, when Bay actually stops directing Transformers.

I meant DOTM is awesome and ROTF could be better.

    5. Yeah I agree but I chose JJ Abrams because he directed Star Trek into Darkness and that's a space adventure movie that was well done.so if the Autobots and Decepticons go to space in the 5th and 6th installment I think JJ Abrams should take over because he already has a big feel of the whole cosmic universe, battle ships firing at each other and yeah I forgot James Cameron is going to be friken busy with the Avatar sequels.I love ROTF because it showed more heart between Sam and mikaela and you didn't feel the love much between the Sam and carly,But any ways the movie is not about them but from the TransFormers perspective DOTM was amazing and I just hated that shockwave died so easily and at the end when optimus gives his speech the wreckers and dino are gone but it was awesome.and I for one thought that the first half of Transformers was boring unlike ROTF and DOTM. But now I'm really excited for TF4 Age of Extinction I'm hoping that it shows more of the TransFormers and less of the human's because in the last three to much involvement of the humans and not much of the TransFormers. That's why I want a space adventure so no human's can interfere with the Autobots and decepticons.

  7. It's crazy that this movie is coming out in 6 months and we haven't got any character stills yet or anything. Most movies start right at this time look at Amazing Spiderman we've had trailers, images, and a lot of stuff already. I just don't understand why Bay doesn't give the fans something. A little concept art wouldn't hurt.

That's called building hype for a movie, the less we see, the bigger the hype (will get)!
I think it's amazing and just great that we almost don't know anything. Sure I do wanna see some images, character stills, but in the end, I actually don't wanna know anything before I see the movie.
Sometimes I wish we were in the older days, when the first thing we saw from a movie, was when the trailer was shown on tvfor the first time, 2 weeks before it hits the theatre.
But it is indeed crazy Bay has kept things this secret, I think it's great.

    2. It's the 4th movie you don't have to hype this up. You have your audience.

  8. God... $4 Million for only 30 seconds. In todays age of the internet, do they really need to pay that much for a 30 second spot.

I know you will all hate me for this, but it is money that could be used else where or for other reasons. I simple Youtube Viral Video could do more than a 30 second commercial and cost A LOT less.

"Michael Bay donates $4 Million that was to be used for a 30 second commercial spot to the [enter your choice of charity here]" would be nice to see in the papers.

    1. That would be nice but keep in mind the budget comes from the studio...not Michael Bay.

    2. It is pretty rediculous, so much of it could go to charity.

    3. @Anonymous 12/16/2013 6:23 PM: Ah, yeah I guess that is true, but we could take my original statement and change Michael Bay to [Studio Name].

Also a Viral Campaign could invovle the viewers a bit more, like needing to search the internet for clues and be more fun than just a 30 second spot... BUT as I continue with this idea, I bet the more elaborate the Viral, the more it would cost too... *sigh*

    4. That is very true. Problem comes and this may be what your saying. There is only a small percentage that actually goes to helping and the rest goes into advertising, payroll..etc however every little bit hurts. Another idea could be to donate a percentage of the box office to charity. Lord knows they will more than make their money back

    5. All you guys still don't get it, it's all about making money, to make new movies in the future. The U.S. are still one of the biggest audiences to reach and who bring in the big bucks and the best way to make them interested in your product, is to ADVERTISE during the biggest, most popualr and watched tv program in the U.S.!

It's all nice tot talk about charity, Bay and many actors already give many millions of dollars to charity and I'll bet you that probably studio's do that also.

Yes 4 million bucks is alot of money and too much, but get over it, it's the way the wolrd works around advertising and maikng money.
This is not the place to dicuss this, stay to the topic of Transformers.

      Delete
    6. Hypocrit much? Talk about not talking about charity as you write out a few paragraphs.

The talk of charity has to do with Transformers. Your argument is invalid.

Everyone is well aware it's all about making money. No one is retarded.

It's the 4th movie. People are well aware of it as it is. I think premeiring it at superbowl or not is going to change the box office. Tf4 is going to make mega bucks no matter how it's advertised

      Delete
    7. Hypocrit? That has nothing to do with it. My argument is invalid? The discussion that the price of $4 million for the 30 sec spot is too high, is invalid. And that they should give it to charity, only bc everybody seems to know that TF4 will make mega bucks. I bet you give shit to charity.

It's not about knowing TF4 will make mega bucks, this is the way advertising works, no more no less. You have to advertise, for people who don't follow movies on the web every day. And that's more people than you think buddy! Not everybody follows movies as much as other people, the movie freaks. For those millions of people, you advertise during the best watched program on tv there is! And if that costs mega bucks, okay, but you reach the biggest crowd of people in the U.S. there is, today even worldwide. And a very big chance they are going to watch the movie in cinemas.

    8. There will be more commercial spots that will reach twice as many people as a superbowl spot will. It is too high a price. That, my friend is the truth. 4 million for 30 sec vs the countless tv spots and internet postings. Hmm the clear winner is easy.

Do I give to charity? Absolutely. A portion of my weekly check is automatically withdrawn for charity. Hell even my kids give! You don't know me to know what all I am involved in.

I, personally, like countless others do not watch sports. It is the most watched for fans. Others think it's stupid. Will it reach a lot of people? Absolutely but not as many as other means. Your trying to talk like no one understands advertising. We do but that doesn't mean we don't think there are better ways to spend $4 million

      Delete
    9. And yes you are a hypocrite. You spoke about and continue to speak about why they shouldn't donate to charity and focus on advertising all the while saying not to talk about charity. Good day bud.

    10. Hi, me again! I just felt it was quite a lot of money. A Viral Video could also reach alot of people, be it by the News repeating it, Facebook Shares, Youtube Recomends and so on. I for sure know it is all about money... I also know "You have to spend money to make money". But do you really think they need to spend that much? I wasn't even totally saying it should be donated though it would be nice, but it was just that it was alot of money for 30 seconds. I also don't watch sports and don't even think I have ever seen a commercial from the Superbowl.

As for not the place to discuss this, in a way it is still talking about Transformers, you just have to look at the whole of it.... This post was about a commercial spot, and it has moved to talking about Viral Videos and other things...it has just, "transformed" if you will, into another aspect of the post. :)

  9. Just because we've had no new info and I was bored, I went back thru some older posts. I wrote down the names of the dueling Anonymous posters gave, as to which Transformers were in the new movie. I want to see who came the closest to being right. Of course, I'm going to wait until someone here has seen the movie and can tell me if Sideswipe is in and survives the new movie.
