Transformers 5 Officially Greenlit By Paramount for 2016
The post title says it all. At the CineEurope Conference in Spain, Paramount Pictures International SVP Edward Ryan revealed that Transformers 5 has been green lit for release in Summer 2016. The move was part of the companies presentation of a Transformers 4 sizzle reel along with highlighting Paramount's overall release slate from this summer to 2016. Other planned 2016 releases include Beverly Hills Cop, GI Joe 3, and Hansel and Gretel 2. No details beyond that but if Michael Bay passes on TF5, that means that Paramount is going to have to find a replacement director by year's end as pre-production will have to start early 2015 make the 2016 release date.

ReplyDeleteI think Bay is going to (initially) deny his involvement (we all know the drill), but just as soon as Age of Extinction meets box office expectations, Bay could reconsider and say that he couldn't possibly hand the torch to somebody else after such a great start to a reboot, and do (at least) one more with the same team from this one. Which, I, for one, would like to see. I do wonder if Bay staying on as just an executive producer would still allow him to bring in all those cars, oversee a lot of the action audiences have come to expect from the franchise, and let a new director take over TF5 [still feels weird typing that].
ReplyDeleteI doubt a new Director will come in and take over the franchise. 2016 is only TWO years away! With that in mind, a new director coming in would take a while to settle down and prepare work. TF5 was originally planned to come out 2017, posting it 1 year back means Bay still must be the director.

ReplyDeletePain & Gain was the only film he directed between Transformers films. Shouldn't he get more time for that?
