Transformers 5 in 2017?

Today Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner held their 2015 Quarter 1 (that ends March 31st) Conference Call to cheer lead a good period for the company. As part of that he was asked about the upcoming Transformers movies. The key bit of information is that they are holding to have the next film out in 2017.
"Our plan with the studio and filmakers you may have heard some writers being hired and we have in fact brought in Akiva Goldsman to lead a group of writers to really create a strategic plan around Transformers. We think there are any number of stories to be told from the brand that has been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology. We would expect the sequel to the Transformers movie [TF4] to happen in 2017."
That is a year later than previously aiming for but does tie in nicely to a 10th Anniversary of the movie franchise. More importantly (for Paramount and Hasbro) it allows for a repeat of the Pain and Gain plan where Bay does a "smaller" film then does the next Transformers film. The director is currently in pre-production on "13 Hours" for filming later this year and I assume release next year. Since it isn't CGI heavy he can probably complete the film with plenty of time for pre-production on Transformers 5 in 2016 while occasionally checking in as Akiva Goldsman and company work on the cinematic universe game plan this year. Keep in mind Bay has not officially committed to Transformers 5 so this is just theory but he nets nearly $100 million per film so as long as the studio is willing to pay him, I don't see why he would say no to that kind of money. Thanks to Silver Knight for the link.

  1. I hope to God Bay doesn't direct the next one. And it's good news there will be new writers, cuz clearly the last ones don't have a grasp on sense of character. (Optimus saying "I'll kill you" a bunch of times) I mean, what was that about??

    1. Three years away and the cryig about Bay has already started? im not surprised at all but yeah no studio would want Bay directing the Transformers franchise as each one has been more and more successful. I recall Prime saying "He's going to die", once not "I'll kill you" a bunch of times. Let the over exagerations begin...to be continued for three more years...Lawl.

  6. This is ridiculous and all about hate or haters . enough is enough !! Every time ytou found someone or something to blame . Michael Bay is an excellent director of action AAA+ The writers changed so what do you want in overall ? You hate transformers that's all and if you are NOT a Transformers fan go away and leave this successful and the most successful franchise in the future alone if yes you must be happy with these kind of news but every time you are NOT . This is obviously hate . transformers will be 1 of the 3 top BO in the end hate or NOT !

  7. Take that unicron action figure out your bum and relax...if you think any of those movies outside the first one are any good, youre out of your mind. There needs to be a fresh take on the series, bay clearly doesnt know what the hell hes doing.ive been a TF fan since the 80's.no one can tell me what a ''true fan " is...Transformers is rich with stories and arcs that deserve a director who actually knows how to compile them...

  8. Bay directs whatever reading from the scriptwriters ! Now the writer changed but again the haters will find something to blame ... again Michael Bay . Only bay puts the BO numbers high for Transformers and only the real fans will appreciate that obviously . This is only hate after all the movies are obviously a grand success ... hate or not hate :)

    1. Bay is a moron and so are his writers, better?

    2. Or the writers are bad only. Bay only has a small part as far as the script itself goes. He's the interpreter but since his name is on the movie people give him all the blame. There's a big difference between being the director and being the writers.

    3. I agree totally but people do not understand this . The writer is the subject NOT the director . But will understand it sooner or later for sure one day i think .

  10. Some people hate other people and made the rest of the mankind blame like a virus without even know why . Michael Bay is the best on its kind . Now the writers replaced . What do you want now ? To blame Michael Bay again ? . So enjoy Transformers and for haters : Leave the franchise alone because you are harming your health . Haters voice is a pin in the ocean :) BO number every time approves that with spreading hate or not . Peace !

  14. We should write a letter to Akiva Goldsman asking him to fire Ehren Kruger and bring back the scriptwriters of the first Transformers movie.

I know this a franchise based on toys, this is not Oscar material. HOWEVER, pretty much everybody enjoyed the first movie which is enough prove that Michael Bay is not 100% responsible, it was until they changed the writers (they went to write Star Trek I think) in the second movie that the hate started.

  16. You blamed the 2 writers and then they left the franchise now want them back ? Every time something you want to go wrong with Transformers but i guess everyone as usual will go and see every single transformers movie out there . For that reason the Transformers cinematic universe will emerge and will be victorious :) Peace !

    1. Well, I didn't mean I want the writers of the first movie, any other writer will do.

My point was that to prove that Ehren Kruger played a big role in fucking up the Movies.

  18. I think everyone needs to just simmer down with the Bay hate. It looks like for the most part everyone is in agreement the first one was good and then they changed writers and started going downhill. So let's just see what happens with the franchise with these new writers on board and hopefully they are Transformers fan or familiar enough with them to not make another craptastic movie.
