More DOTM Toy Galleries and Reviews

Another "linkfest" for Transformers: Dark of the Moon toys and related merchandise. This edition is heavy on toy images and bios which sadly reveal little about the movie but do have two new video reviews including one for leader class Ironhide. Most of the toys are expected to hit shevles on May 16th.

2000 Pound Bumblebee Cake
Carlo's Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey created a massive cake for a General Motors display at the Javits Center. The cake will be featured on TLC's "Cake Boss" program on June 20th. The cake has the Bumblebee astride his Camaro alt mode. The 2000 pound creation is made of vanilla pound cake with butter-cream frosting and Rice Krispies treats to "bind the cake at critical flex points." (via AllSpark)

DOTM Mobile Game Coming (5x)
Electronic Arts is working on a mobile game around Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The leaked screenshots (at link) show a game that seems to be part side scroller with a bit of overhead "Spyhunter" type play style. On description says "“While Megatron is hiding after the disgraceful defeat, Decepticons Shockwave, the ruler of Cybertron, is preparing to visit the planet with absolutely no good intentions. The game takes place not only on Earth, but the dynamics Moon, a dark side which holds no less dark secrets." There is no indication on price or release date. Thanks to Sahara for the link.

DOTM Bumblebee Review and More Toy Galleries

Still no new news on the movie front nor definitive confirmation of a new trailer with Sucker Punch. In the meantime, here is a bunch of new Transformers: Dark of the Moon toy galleries and a new Peaugh review with deluxe Bumblebee. Below are links to a look at Takara's voyager Prime, a Starscream exclusive, info on trading cards, and more images of Top Spin, Roadmaster, and Laserbeak.

Takara Voyager Optimus Prime (5x)
While the States and elsewhere are going to get the regular voyager Optimus Prime, it seems Japan will enjoy a modified version that will come with a trailer and a different MechTech weapon that can turn to a battle blade. I suspect this figure will get a release later as an exclusive for one of the major retail chains.

Target Exclusive Voyager Starscream
The toys are not even out and already Starscream has repaints for two of his classes. This time his voyager version is getting a modified paint job for Target that seems to include a darker gray paint job, gold highlights for the Cybertronian tattoos, black head and other touches.

DOTM Toys Linkfest with Wheelie

A bunch of galleries and news relating to the Transformers: Dark of the Moon toy line. New auctions have revealed a look at Shockwave, a test shot of Sentinel Prime, and Sideswipe. There are also galleries that show off the in package look at various characters and a close look at the Stealth Force line including possibly the first look at the new orange version of Wheelie. In the video department below is a review of the first figure released at retail from DOTM along with a look at part of Hasbro’s marketing campaign for the toy line.

Shockwave in Package
The images above of Shockwave comes from a Yahoo Japan auction who is the big bad of DOTM (besides Megatron). Still not sold on the tank mode but do like the robot mode.

Stealth Force Line Images
Hit the link to check out images of the new DOTM Stealth Force line. The line seems to be about a weapon mode for the TFs as panels and the like fold back to reveals a bunch of fire power. I don't think any of these have a robot mode. I have no idea if the orange buggy below is Wheelie but the orange color is very close to his Generation One counterpart.

DOTM Toys: Deluxe Starscream Review, More Galleries

Superbowl Sunday is here and with it a new Transformers: Dark of the Moon trailer. Until then here is more DOTM toy related news. The first video below is a Peaugh toy review of deluxe DOTM Starscream that just might be the first movie version of Starscream I might actual buy. The second video is a slideshow of vehicle images (where are the robots modes?) of maybe Sentinel Prime fire truck, convertible Sideswipe, the helicopter, Bumblebee and others (still images of same here).

On a related note, eBay has an auction for DOTM deluxe Crankcase/Dread that is priced only for the most impatient diehard fan at $199.99. Last is a pull from the Wal-Mart database by Zobovor of alt.toys.transformers newsgroup (wonder if Raksha still infamous there) that seems to list all the toys that is likely to be released in May. About the only noteworthy toy in the list is Human Alliance Soundwave. The full list can be found here.

DOTM Ironhide Video Review, Official Images and More Galleries

Peaugh once again shows off his ability to get hold of the latest Transformers toys before anyone else by reviewing Transformers: Dark of the Moon deluxe Ironhide. He actually posted the review about two weeks ago but I somehow missed it. The Mech Tech weapon gimmick doesn't do anything for me. The robot mode is looks good but appears to suffer from some engineering issues. It is possible that those have since been ironed out but I doubt it since Hasbro is probably past the design phase and now mass producing the toys to make their May release date (which is why all the leaks).

Speaking of, it seems Hasbro has recognized that the cat is out of the bag and decided to go ahead and release official images of Deluxe Starscream and Ironhide to AllSpark.com. Also hit the links below for more DOTM toy leaks images with voyager Ratchet, deluxe Starscream, and voyager Optimus Prime. As for the below right, that is a life size version of Bumblebee with his Mech Tech weapon that was for Takara-Tomy's Toy Forum in Japan for retailer while the image up top is for the 2011 New York Toy Fair that will take place from February 13-18th at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (via TFW2005).

DOTM Toy Line Descriptions and New Toy Images

The toy leaks keep coming. There is news from the UK Toy Fair 2001 that while gives a little more insight into Hasbro's plans for the Transformers: Dark of the Moon toy line by providing a full summary of the various sub-lines and releases. The main highlights include "Ultimate Optimus Prime" that will come with a his trailer that "converts into Mech suit" and the Cyberverse Ark Playset "provides 2 in 1 play as it converts from vehicle mode to battle station." No pictures were allowed at the fair so the descriptions will have to do. Thanks to Udana for the link. In addition, hit the links for a few new DOTM toy galleries.

First Look at DOTM Shockwave Toys

With all the toy leaks it was just a matter of time. Thanks to members of ACToys (via Collecticon) we now have our first look at the robot and alt mode of Shockwave, the big bad of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The character is designed as homage to his Generations One look with Cyclops head and horn along with a purple color scheme now with an alt mode of a Cybertronian tank rather than his G1 alt mode of a Cybertronian gun. The switch to a tank alt mode is expected as that has been his most common alt mode since Transformers: Energon cartoon series. As a bonus, hit the links below for more images of deluxe Barricade, various DOTM legends class figures, Crankcase (possible other name of Dread Suburban) and more.

Even More DOTM Toy Images

More Transformers: Dark of the Moon toy images has hit the web. Unlike most of the previous ones, we finally get a look at the robot mode of a Nascar Wrecker, Starscream, the Human Alliance Buggy and the Suburban Dread. Also another Human Alliance vehicle, a helicopter, so highly likely the line is back and going in a slightly new direction then its previous incarnation. Pics and links below.

DOTM Deluxe Starscream First Look

In a new Transformers: Dark of the Moon leak from Yahoo Auctions, Japan we get our first look at Starscream in jet mode. This is the first time the movie character is coming in Deluxe size and shows that Starscream will retain his tattoos for Transformers 3. (via TFormers)

Morshower Returns, Starscream's Death?, and a Video

photo from Jesse Grant, Wireimage.comTo my knowledge, Transformers 3 production continues in Chicago but going by the lack of news they have figured out a way to do it out of sight of the general public.Having said that, we do have a casting confirmation, rumor about Starscream and the final part of a behind the scene's video.

To start, Glenn Morshower has updated his website noting his role on "the upcoming Transformers 3." Considering that the Chicago videos have demonstrated that NEST plays a prominent part in a lot of the action, to me the only real question is does his character of General Morshower join in on the front lines or continue to command behind the scenes. Thanks to Chris for the link.

The next bit of news comes from a baseball cap store website. According to StricklyFitteds.com, "Hardcore Eddie kills Starscream." This info comes from a blog post on the website with pictures from Lester Speigh (Gears of War) who plays Eddie, a probable member of NEST. In a separate video post (below), clearly taken right in the middle of production at the North Michigan Avenue Bridge, Speigh talks about the website's hats and ends with "I got to go kill some Decepticons." If the rumor of Megatron's death is true, it is safe to say the rest of the core Decepticon cast follows (otherwise just repeating the end of TF1) so not surprised if Starscream dies. What would surprise me is if an unknown single NEST member did it. I suspect that a NEST group with Eddie does participate in taking out Starscream but the kill shot is probably left to Epps or Lennox. Thanks to DJ Bigtyme Beats and John for the link.

Last but not least, Sam has posted the third part of his behind the scenes videos taken along Wacker Drive on July 26th and 27th. The 3 videos show lots of the behind the scenes prep that goes into the filming. At the time it was for bits involving filming for scenes involving Hotchkiss Gould Investments (aka the 7/11) and with the required Bayhem. Part 3 is below. It mostly shows some upside down Bus prep, and helicopter action. If interested in the rest of the series, Part 1 shows off the Decepticon Armored Car and more while Part 2 involves the "police" prep and response to a TF3 related event.

Transformers Linkfest

12'' Optimus Prime Statue
Sideshow Collectibles has announced a new statue from PopBox Collectibles that is available to pre-order for $389.99. The Limited Edition statue of the Revenge of the Fallen version of Optimus Prime is expected to come out this June or July. The statue comes with "two sets of switch-out hands and a set of his energy sword with magnetic attachments." Click the link above to view the entire gallery.

War for Cybertron Release Date Officially 6/22/10
While it has appeared as such on Amazon for months now, Activision finally got around to making it official by confirming to Gamespot that all editions of the game will be released on June 22nd.

WST Sixshot and Ultra Magnus
A look at some pretty cool remakes of Generation One toys. WST stands for World's Smallest Transformers which was a brief line that Takara released a few years ago of classic G1 Transformers that I guess are a little big bigger than a quarter. The toys looked and transformed just like their regular size classics. Once that line ended various toy makers continued it with the most current release being Shockwave and Blaster. The newest additions of Sixshot ($107) and Ultra Magnus ($75) will be released as exclusives for the Wonder Festival in Japan on July 25th. Love to add these to my collection but sadly too expensive for my tastes (usually WST goes for around $15).

New Transformers Listing at Wal-Mart
Click the link for a bunch of new entries found in the Wal-Mart database for toys we already know about but also for some that are news to me like Voyager Lugnut, Grappel, Axor and more. I assume most of the toys are part of the wave that should start hitting store shelves this summer.

Leader Class Starscream Gallery and Video
From ACtoys.net is a look at a gallery and video of the upcoming Leader class Starscream. Of note is the toy is apparently manufactured in Vietnam, rather than China which has been the traditional source for Hasbro toys. The video at the link shows off some of the sounds and features of the toys.

Hasbro has posted its list of exclusives that will be hitting stores shelves starting in February including Legends class Devastator. Transformers Linkfest

Lot of new links to various Transformer galleries including new Alternity gallery with review, look at Legends Devastator in G1 colors, Masterpiece Nemesis Prime and more.

Alternity Bumblebee and Cliffjumper Gallery
Huge 84 image gallery of the now finished version of the next figures in the Japan exclusive Transformers Alternity line. The alternate mode is the Suzuki Swift Sport and the two are essentially identical except for color and head mold. The Alternity line are small (about Deluxe sized) but detailed toys with complex transformations and use of die-cast in their construction. The average stateside import price is $50.

Alternity Bumblebee Video Review
In addition to the above gallery, here is a video review of Alternity Bumblebee that shows off the gimmicks and the transformation of the toy. Due to cussing can't exactly call it safe for work nor is it as good as Peaugh's but gives you an idea of whether the toy is worth the extra cost.(via TFW2005)

Masterpiece Optimus Prime in Black
Gallery of in package MP Prime in yet another re-issue (I think fifth version). This time the Japan exclusive is sporting the black and teal that tends to be associated with Nemesis Prime.

EZ Collection Devastator in G1 Green (mirror)
Click the link to view an official gallery of images from Takara of the repaint of Legends Devastator that remains a Japan exclusive. He is sporting the G1 green that the Constructicons first had back in 1984. Thanks to Christopher and RY for the links.

Next Masterpiece Toy Hint
In an interview with TF designer who created MP Prime, Buster Prime, and more Hirinori Kobayashi hints that the next figure in the MP line will come from the Season 3 line of toys. That season was dominated by characters from Transformers: The Movie.

XBox Revenge of the Fallen Avatars
Now available on the XBox Live Marketplace is Transformers: ROTF clothing and helmets for your avatars. The helmets (Megatron, Bumblebee, Optimus Prime) cost 240 MS points and the shirts (7 types total) are 80 MS points.

Device Label Grimlock and Trypticon
Now available in Japan are these two new Transformers from the Device Label line. Grimlock and Trypticon are identical (except for paint job) whose alt mode is a fully functional optical mouse. The average cost stateside $50 each.

Another Leader Starscream Gallery
A new high-quality gallery of the upcoming toy that almost seem like official images. No clue when Leader class Starscream reaches stores, actually thought he would have by now for the Holiday season but maybe he is being held back for the 2010 wave of toys. Thanks to Kaly for the link.

Peaugh Video Review of Leader Starscream, Voyager Mindwipe

Here are two new video reviews of upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen toys from Peaugh. The first is a review of Leader class Starscream. Like the previous review, this is based on the prototype version of the toy so the electronic aspects do not function. The differences between the two reviews are minor but Peaugh's does provide a better look at the transformation process and his gimmicks. The second video is for Voyager class Mindwipe, one of the few new molds for the upcoming wave of ROTF toys. Not that bad a toy, the dagger gimmick is a bit silly. Thanks to RY for the links.

Leader Class Starscream Video Review

Finally a good look at the new Leader class Starscream from KOToys' GenZhao. The review is based on a prototype version so doesn't include a look at the electronic gimmicks of the toy (click here for a brief look). Overall, the robot mode remains ugly but has improved look and articulation compared to the Voyager class. This might be the first version of Starscream that I have considered buying. The photo gallery at the end of the video can be found here. (via TFormers)

More Transformers Galleries

Once again, another link fest of various Transformers toy news. Thanks to RY for many of the links.

Leader Starscream Back Package
Above is the single image of the back of the box for Leader class Starscream. Based on the pictures which show a better designed chest plate and more authentic look to the movie than the Voyager class toy. This is turning into the first version of Starscream that I might actually buy.

Fast Action Battler Spark Blast Jolt
Click the link for gallery of official images for the upcoming repaint of Jolt. Yep, another repaint. At the rate Hasbro is going there will not be a single mold from the ROTF toy line that doesn't have at least 1-2 repaints. For completists news like this must cause nightmare. Personally it just makes me not bother buying any toys until all the repaints are out so can pick the color scheme I like most.

Recon Ironhide New Head Sculpt
Click the link for images of Ironhide's new head design to go along with the new paint job along with a few images that compares this toy with the 1st Ironhide from the Revenge of the Fallen line.

Scout Scattershot
More official images, this of Scattershot that is part of the upcoming NEST sub line of Revenge toys and is one of the few new molds that is part of the line as it is a homage to the Cybertron character (the G1 version was a jet and trigger master figure if I remember correctly).

Skids and Screech Images
Exclusive to Transformers Generation 2009 magazine, these new toys are painted to remind you of the movie Twins.

Disney Donald Duck Monochrome
Even though the toy isn't even out yet, the Japan only figure is getting the repaint treatment in black and white (I guess a nod to his B&W cartoon origins). Bigbadtoystore.com already has the figure up for pre-order for $50 if you’re interested.

Legends Wave 5 in Packaging
Click to view images of Legends class Autobot Wheelie, Bluesteel Sideswipe, Power Armor Optimus Prime and Soundwave in their packaging.

Transformers Galleries, The Plague and More

Below are a few links to new toy galleries and more.

The Plague and Leader Starscream
The image to the right is a screen grab from the Blu-ray edition of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen that shows off an unused concept character called The Plague. Could this be an early name for the Fallen or possibly a new character that might pop up in the third film? Additionally at the link is images of Leader class Starscream that will hopefully hit retail by Christmas. Thanks to RY for the link.

More Revenge Repaints
Click above for a look at rather ugly repaints of Fast Action Battler Skids and Mudflap along with Dead End and Knock Out. Hasbro's love of creating at least 2 repaints (or more) of every mold continues. Thanks to Ben1227 for the link.

Fast Action Battler Arcee
Gallery of the upcoming toy that retains the ugly look of the original.

Recon Ironhide in Package
Voyager class Jungle Attack Ironhide has been renamed according to the new images the character in packaging pictures. Recon Ironhide is a repaint of the figure but now includes more weapon accessories than ever before. Pic to the right is the back of the box with his bio.

Encore 18 Skids
The latest re-issue gets its own gallery as Generation One Skids is about to be released in Japan. I am especially digging the classic packaging and probably need to add this figure to my wish list as I never had a chance to buy this one those many years ago when first released.

Demolisher and Rampage Repaints
Yep, more repaints this time for the Deluxe Rampage and Voyager Demolisher. Rampage is getting a new red color and Demolisher turns white in an effort to make them more accurate to their look in the movie. No indication if this is a Japan only release or if these will make their way stateside sometime next year.
