Paramount Pictures has released an Apple iOS augmented reality game called TF3: Defend the Earth. The game makes use of the built in camera and Optimus Prime posters online or at theaters to activate the game. Since it is only from the iTunes store and requires a built in camera, this means you need an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 or iPad 2 to play. If you have the right device, click here to try it out.

Dark of the Moon Linkfest

The movie news keeps coming and expect to ramp up even more with the world premiere in Moscow, the various talk show appearances and who knows what else. This is probably the best time to squeeze in various Transformers: Dark of the Moon news related to toys, promotions, toy reviews, Kre-O reviews, Oakley 3D glasses and more.

Life Sized Transformers Scrap Metal Statues
At this link is a few pictures of Transformers created over the years from scrap metal. I think I have posted about most of them at some time or another but nice to see them collected together. If want to check out more Optimus Prime, click here. Thanks to Feris for the link.

Soundwave Toys Coming
Now that we know that Soundwave's earth mode is a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, it is just a matter of time before the toys would come out. Full Metal Hero is reporting that three of them are in the works - a Human Alliance with Laserbeak, Deluxe Soundwave, and Cyberverse Legion. Expected release date is October, sadly no images yet.

Transformers Video Games Stuff

A few Transformers video games stuff has popped up today. Activision has released a press release for yesterday's release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game while the voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen, did his part to promote the game to USA Today. In addition Jagex, makers of the Transformers Universe MMO, released their Botcon teaser video, screensaver and concept art. From the Cullen interview:
"Doing the movie or the animated series, there's a plot and character development and a sense of continuous feeling of one kind or another," Cullen explains. "But in the game, you're one-on-one with an individual, and the lines are quick one-liners oftentimes, and maybe some advice now and then. Basically, it's a one-on-one mental intimacy with the player. That is much different than being involved as a spectator watching a film or a show."

Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game Launch Trailer

Tomorrow is the official release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game at retail (and midnight at select Gamespot locations). Gametrailers has posted the launch trailer. Most of the trailer is based on game video footage with a light dose of in game play. It is a prequel to the movie so no worries about spoilers. If wondering if want to buy, just ask yourself if you enjoyed War for Cybertron as it uses that game's graphics engine and game play design.

DOTM The Game Prime Days and Interview

Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game is just a week away from release on all the major systems (except PC). As a result, the official website has ramped up the updates with new content, most of it the normal stuff like trailers, game details, bios and screenshots. The Game Facebook page is also getting new content with something called "Prime Days". For the next 47 days new content will be added such as concept art, wallpaper, quizzes and so forth. As a preview, concept art was released from the game, which you can find here.

Also Italian website ScreenWeek has an interview with High Moon Studios Game Director Sean Miller. Below is an English translation of the interview thanks to Filippo.
1- Could you tell us something about the plot of the game? Is it a prologue to the upcoming movie?
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a prologue companion to the film. We worked with Hasbro and Paramount to create a unique story that sets up characters and situations in the upcoming movie – that way we can tap into the broad history of Transformers without spoiling any of the big moments for the film.

Dark of the Moon Linkfest

It has been a while since a link fest due to a lot of Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie specific news. This is a catch up of the toy and video game information with more coming from Botcon. Of note is a look at Leadfoot with maybe alt mode of Brains, a video review of Optimus Prime with trailer, Warpath concept art, galleries and more.

First Look at Wrecker Leadfoot
At this point I can't keep track of all the toys but I do believe this is the first time we have seen a toy for the red Wrecker Leadfoot. Of note is this is a Human Alliance figure with an interesting "human" which apparently is a Transformer dog. Could this be the alt mode of Brains, new BFF for Wheelie?

Transformers: DOTM The Game Multiplayer Hands-On, Trailer

Another press embargo has passed as multiple websites have posted hands-on reviews of Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game for multiplayer along with a new multiplayer trailer (below). Nothing new has been revealed about the game play but at least have a new trailer. As expected, the multiplayer mode is essentially a port of the War for Cybertron version with the added use of "stealth mode" for game play.

As far as characters, Nemesis Prime and Breakaway join the multiplayer cast on top of the core movie TF cast. Like the preview from a month ago, the over all impression remains very good. It seems if you liked War for Cybertron, you will like Dark of the Moon The Game. The links below are to various articles, screenshots and the like related to the game. The game is coming out on June 14th for the XBox 360, PS3, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, and the Nintendo DS in Autobot and Decepticon editions but no PSP or PC version will be available.

DOTM The Game Soundwave Image, Covers, Preview

It seems a press embargo was released on preview articles around Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Video Game. As a result, we have further confirmation that Soundwave's alt mode is a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG despite Hasbro's efforts to "correct" the error on their Vector Sigma database by switching it to a satellite. This is seen by the vehicle kibble on the model. It also seems he does lose his blue color and trades it in for white or silver scheme. Reviews describe his alt mode as a truck so drawing the definitive conclusion remains murky. In addition, a Transformers: Rising Storm #3 panel also shows more car kibble on his robot mode with a dark gray color scheme. Thanks to Torsten for the images.

Transformers: DOTM The Game Demo

Gamespot has posted a video demo (below) of Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Video Game that includes commentary and interview with Sean Miller, High Moon Studios' Director of the game. The game graphically and play style is identical to War for Cybertron (no surprise, uses the same engine) but does not have Autobot and Decepticon campaign paths. The video shows a little of the Bumblebee and Ironhide levels and some of their character specific special actions. The game is coming out on all major consoles except PC on June 14th. The embed code doesn't work so click here to view. (via TFormers)

More DOTM Toy Galleries and Reviews

Another "linkfest" for Transformers: Dark of the Moon toys and related merchandise. This edition is heavy on toy images and bios which sadly reveal little about the movie but do have two new video reviews including one for leader class Ironhide. Most of the toys are expected to hit shevles on May 16th.

2000 Pound Bumblebee Cake
Carlo's Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey created a massive cake for a General Motors display at the Javits Center. The cake will be featured on TLC's "Cake Boss" program on June 20th. The cake has the Bumblebee astride his Camaro alt mode. The 2000 pound creation is made of vanilla pound cake with butter-cream frosting and Rice Krispies treats to "bind the cake at critical flex points." (via AllSpark)

DOTM Mobile Game Coming (5x)
Electronic Arts is working on a mobile game around Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The leaked screenshots (at link) show a game that seems to be part side scroller with a bit of overhead "Spyhunter" type play style. On description says "“While Megatron is hiding after the disgraceful defeat, Decepticons Shockwave, the ruler of Cybertron, is preparing to visit the planet with absolutely no good intentions. The game takes place not only on Earth, but the dynamics Moon, a dark side which holds no less dark secrets." There is no indication on price or release date. Thanks to Sahara for the link.

DOTM The Game Nintendo "Stealth Force Edition"

Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game is being released on June 14th for all the systems but one of the unanswered questions was how would the Nintendo versions be different considering the differences made with previous movie edition due mostly to lack of graphical power of Nintendo's systems. Amazon has updated their listings for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii versions, now calling them the "Stealth Force Edition." They are now available for pre-order. The description and features from Amazon below complete with a bizarre volume of typos:
Stealth Force Edition: Exclusively on the Wii and 3DS, the war between the autobots and decepticons continues in stealth force mode. Control heavily weaponized vehicles as you engage in epic vehicular combat to save earth from total destrucition.

* Split Screen Multiplayer (Wii Only) Wage war with a friend in spliet screen multiplayer
* Play the entire game in stealth force and wield the power of high intensity weapons in vehicluar combat
* 18 stealth force missions, wage war between the autobots and decepticons in urband, desert and frozen locations from Siberia to South American Deserts

DOTM The Game Story Preview

G4 has posted a video interview with High Moon Studio's Sean Miller, game director for Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game which is a prequel to the upcoming movie. The interview covers a lot of what was revealed in the demo report with parts of the trailer mixed in. (via Seibertron)

Transformers: DOTM The Game First Look

While Hasbro doesn't know this blog exists, fortunately they are aware of other sites were able to get a sneak peak at the game along with some new screenshots. I guess this is part of the PR push that tends to comes with a release of a new trailer nowadays. For all intents if you enjoyed War for Cybertron in both design and play then you will like DOTM The Game as pretty much everything carries over as far as the graphics, style and mechanics.

TFormers was able to see a demo of the game. It is a prequel to the movie as the single campaign (not dual like in W4C) will reveal how the post Revenge damaged Megatron changes to his mack truck alt mode, why Soundwave is called down to Earth with a new alt mode, and likely more as fills in some of the gaps between Revenge of the Fallen and DOTM. The game controls are pretty much the same as War for Cybertron with huge boss battles (Starscream vs. Stratosphere), and smooth switching between alt modes. A third alt mode has been added called Stealth Force (as seen with 'Bee car cannons and the toys). Another carryover also seems to be special abilities and skills for each Transformer. For example Megatron has the "Drain" ability while Ironhide "heavy iron" that gives him access to weapons that provide bigger booms.

New Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game Trailer

Gamespot has posted the second trailer from High Moon Studios for Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game. The video game is scheduled for release on June 14, 2011 and uses the same engine as War for Cybertron and set before the DOTM movie. The game gives you a look at various characters including Laserbeak, Megatron, Prime, Bumblebee (and his stealth mode), and more. Even better it seems the game includes characters not necessarily in the movie such as Warpath (the red tank) that gets lots of air time in this trailer. (via Allspark, thanks to Ryan and Sahara for the link). Edit: Added "The Game" to title since previous was incomplete and misleading.

DOTM Game Shockwave Full Body Render

It seems while High Moon Studios was updating their Facebook page with a tease of Shockwave, they also went ahead and updated their Transformers Video Game YouTube page with a full body image of the big bad. The image is from Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game but if previous games are any indication, the design is from Industrial Light & Magic's files on the character so really for the first time we now have a solid approximation of what the one-eyed wonder will look like in the movie. Thanks to FFN and NHLfan for the link and image.

Dark of the Moon Video Game Teaser Image

Today Activision released a press release making official the information (and trailer) from this weekend regarding the Transformers: Dark of the Moon video game that will serve as a prequel to the upcoming movie. Along with the release was an update to their Facebook page that shows a render of Shockwave that I assume is from the game but likely derived from ILM's movie model. It would not surprise me if the image is part of the 3DS Decepticon cover. Also of note is the release makes no mention of a PC version of the game. The Press Release:
Transformers™: Dark of the Moon™ Video Game Sets the Stage in the Ultimate Battle for Earth

New Game to Feature an Original Prologue Storyline to Upcoming Film and Debut In-Game 'Stealth Force' Conversion Mode

The next colossal entry in the TRANSFORMERS saga on Earth is on the way as Activision Publishing, Inc. ATVI announced today that Transformers: Dark of the Moon is in development by the critically acclaimed developers at High Moon Studios. Based on Hasbro's legendary TRANSFORMERS property and featuring a brand-new 'Stealth Force' conversion mode, the game thrusts players directly into an original prologue storyline to experience the ultimate battle between the AUTOBOTS™ and DECEPTICONS™ that leads into the summer's most anticipated blockbuster film and reveals another face of evil, SHOCKWAVE.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Video Game Teaser Trailer

Saturday High Moon Studios, the same studio behind War for Cybertron, has released the first teaser trailer, screenshots and a few details for Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game which is set before the events in the movie. Game Director Sean Miller says the game should be familiar to War for Cybertron fans as they are "sticking with a similar control and gameplay scheme."

The new game uses the Unreal Engine 3 that War for Cybertron used but this time with a single campaign mode instead of separate Autobot and Decepticon campaigns. The game will have online multiplayer but Activision has not yet released specific details. They have also introduced a "Stealth Mode" (as seen via Bumblebee in the trailer) that is less on stealth and heavy on firepower. Additionally the official website for the game has been re-launched but for now it just shows a countdown clock. The video game is scheduled for release on June 14th on all platforms. Thanks to Kremo and Salvatore for the link.

Official Images of Sentinel Prime, The Ark, and Toy Fair

In a run up to the beginning of the New York Toy Fair 2011 being held this weekend, Hasbro has released official images of three new Transformers: Dark of the Moon toys to Entertainment Weekly. The images prove officially what we all suspected. Sentinel Prime alt mode is the red fire truck, Megatron's new alt mode is worn down tanker truck and the crashed ship on the moon seen in the teaser trailer is The Ark. The Ark is not a Transformer but a kids playset while Sentinel is Leader class (not voyager as first thought) and Megs is voyager class. The pics also verify with the distinct bearded robot is the one discovered on the Ark by the Apollo 11 crew. Makes you wonder what other movie theories might be verified during the Toy Fair. Thanks to Udana for the link.

Speaking of, Hasbro's CEO Brian Goldner gave a presentation that involved Transformers. No movie details were revealed but he did say that the Dark of the Moon video game is going to be a prequel to the movie rather than a direct adaptation as was done for previous movie games. He also said on Monday, Michael Bay would be on hand to show more footage from the film. The slideshow presentation showed off the official logos of MechTech, Cyberverse, and Robot Heroes lines along with a look at the rendered Bumblebee. Thanks to KRandTFfan for the link.

DOTM News: Three Toys, Video Game Dated, Next Book

Three new pieces of news in relations to Transformers: Dark of the Moon licensed products. The first is the official release date for the Transformers video game has been announced by Activision. The game will be released on June 14th, 2011 with the usual scheme of a next gen version for PS3, XBox 360, downgraded version for Wii and Autobot and Decepticon editions for the Nintendo 3DS.

Another piece of news is writer Alex Irvine has announced he is working on the sequel to Transformers: Exodus but would not reveal details. Considering Exodus, War for Cybertron and the movies are considered part of Hasbro's attempt for unified canon (think Star Wars); it may provide insight into the movie. The full interview with Irvine can be found at Unicron.com.

Last bit of news is images of three Dark of the Moon toys - blue Wrecker, green Wrecker, and helicopter. Of note is the helicopter is an Autobot but still not known if an actual character in the movie. As for the Wreckers, it interesting that I could not see a faction symbol on either character. Makes me wonder if the theory they are human inventions in the movie's plot doesn't have legs.
