Di Bonaventure: Unicron, GI Joe vs Tranformers?
After stating that Transformers 4 was not the start of an official trilogy of films, Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura put the kibosh on some long held Transformers fan dreams in regards to Unicron making an appearance and maybe a live action Transformers vs G.I. Joe in an interview with MTV during the Hong Kong world premiere of the movie. Video below.
Unicron: “The problem with Unicron is how big it is,” he said. “It’s boring, that big. How do you stop it? We’ll get there, but when is a good question.”
GI Joe: “No, we haven’t spent a moment,” Di Bonaventura said. “It’s hard enough to figure how to do it alone.”

The Cast of Transformers Interviews with Collider
Collider has posted all its interviews (links below) with the core cast of Transformers: Age of Extinction along with Michael Bay. The interviews last summer while filming in Detroit at the China set so its the usual combo of sales pitch while trying to avoid revealing spoilers. For me the most interesting part was the Collider's list of facts they learned from the set visit. Almost missed it but we finally have the full names of Stanley Tucci's and Sophia Myles' characters (Joshua Gross & Darcy Tyril). Highlights below, click links to read the full interviews. Pics from here.

Bay Talks Transformers Universe and Why No All Robot Film
In an interview with Film Journal International, director Michael Bay and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura spoke about Transformers: Age of Extinction. Bay mentions how he sees Transformers as a huge universe and not a toy line and also answered the question on why the movies are not all robots. Below are highlights, full interview is here. Thanks to Mackie U. for the link.
Film Journal International: Michael, prior to the release of Dark of the Moon, you indicated it would likely be your final Transformers movie. What tempted you to return for the fourth time around?
Michael Bay: Well, the way I look at it is that this isn't the fourth time around: It's the first time with a new franchise. Age of Extinction feels very different, while still keeping the history of the franchise intact. I wanted this one to be more cinematic and have a slower pace at the beginning to try and get into the human characters before it gets into this chase from hell and grows bigger and bigger. I also felt like it would be such a massive undertaking for a new director to come in and reinvent everything in terms of the design process, as well as the sheer volume of creating new characters and an idea for where the series was eventually going to go. It would have taken someone [new] three years instead of two. And then I was inspired when I saw these three-hour-long lines in Orlando and Singapore for the Transformers theme-park ride. I thought, "You know what? I think I gotta do this one more time."

Wahlberg, Peltz Talk Dinobots and Bay
In two separate video interviews (below), Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz discuss Transformers: Age of Extinction. The main highlight from Wahlberg's IGN interview is about the Dinobots essentially saying there is a story reason for why they join the fight but unable to reveal specifics. The lovely Nicola Peltz's interview with a German site also has no specifics and is really only a few minutes long with most of the 7 minute running time used to repeat the theatrical trailers. It will be interesting to see how her press handling skills improve over the next month as she runs the promotional gauntlet. She talked about how she liked the story, working with Bay and the explosions while trying to avoid revealing any spoilers.

Peter Cullen Comments on Re-Auditioning for Prime and More
In an inteview with Hero Complex the voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen, comments on re-auditioning for the role of Optimus Prime, touches on Age of Extinction and his feelings on doing the iconic voice.
“It’s kind of surreal to audition for a character that you basically created,” said Cullen, who originated the Autobot’s stentorian voice in TV performances from 1984 to ‘87. “But I didn’t expect Michael to know what I knew about ‘Transformers.’ I was ready for anything.”

USA Today Brings New Promotional Images and Info
I am thinking that a new trailer is coming in the next week or so. On Friday was a bit of a mini info dump related to Transformers: Age of Extinction and now had another today that includes an new article from USA Today that has three fantastic promotional images (I don't think they are movie stills) and an interview with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura as he promotes the film. All we need now is an Entertainment Tonight tease of an on set visit or the like to seal the trailer deal. Highlights and other two images below. They "are bigger and badder-ass than they have ever been," says Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who has produced all four films, with Steven Spielberg and Bay as executive producers.

USA Today has an article on top 10 iconic movie characters that posted this new still (left) along with a comment from Peter Cullen (voice of Optimus Prime).

The new details include Michael Bay pointing out that Lockdown's ship is important to the trilogy and how elements that are part of the movie that can be explored in later in the trilogy. Below are the key new bits of information compared with the published version.
Bay isn’t revealing his own origin story for Grimlock just yet. “I like to keep things very much in the dark. But yes, you’ll understand why they’re there when you see the movie. If you think I’m supposed to give away a lot of story points? No way! Keep it secret.
Entertainment Weekly Article Talks Grimlock, the Next Trilogy, and Bayhem
This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, their Summer preview issue, has an article (image left) about Transformers: Age of Extinction. In it director Michael Bay confirms that Transformers 4 is the start of the next trilogy while Mark Wahlberg comments on the storyline and Jack Reynor talks about working on the set. The article also revealed a few factoids about the CGI version of Grimlock saying the character is "150 feet long from the tail to the nostrils, 63.5 feet tall from the ground to the top of his horns, and weigh 850 tons." Below is a transcript of the the comments from Bay and the others.
Bay: "It's kind of like a new Transformers. We had three, the first trilogy, and this is going to be the next. ...It's the first of a new trilogy. I'm not necessarily sure that I'm doing [the others], but that's what it's meant for."
Bay: "{Shia LaBeouf]'s a good guy, but three movies, the same guy, it's time. You know what I'm saying? It's always good to freshen it up and change the story."

Titus Welliver Teases his Shark-like Transformers 4 Character
While attending the premiere of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Sabotage, Titus Welliver briefly commented with TheArnoldFans.com about his role of Savoy in Transformers: Age of Extinction.
TheArnoldFans: What can you tell me about your role in the upcoming Transformers?
Titus Welliver: I basically play the shark, like the shark of JAWS. I play this (Navy) Seal who has been tasked with eradicating the world of Transformers. Since the battle in Chicago in the previous film, they've now become outlawed so i'm in charge of a group of guys who are doing that.

Video Interviews with Peltz, Raynor and Wahlberg
Collider has posted two videos (below) of their interviews with the core cast of Transformers: Age of Extinction while they were attending CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week. The first video is with Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz while the second was with Mark Wahlberg. Lots of background noise so hard to catch everything. Not much is revealed story wise as Raynor and Peltz were clearly coached to twist any answer into up selling the movie while revealing nothing specific about the movie (as likely ordered by Bay and the studio). The more experienced Wahlberg covers his inability to provide details about the movie by sticking with working with Bay and an overview of a stunt (but answer so vague it could be for any scene in the movie, but probably the net jump sequence).

Melanie Specht Talks Transformers: Age of Extinction
One of the tertiary actors on Transformers: Age of Extinction, Melanie Specht, spoke with MovieHole.net about filming on the Chicago set of the film. Nothing about the film itself is revealed in the interview. The TF segments below, rest here.
Firstly I’d like to say congratulations on landing your role in Transformers 4! Can you tell us much about the character you play in the film?
My character is Joshua’s senior executive assistant. The very talented and gracious Stanley Tucci plays Joshua. On set director Michael Bay referred to my character as the “Grande Dame”, I got a kick out of that!

Titus Welliver Comments on Transformers 4
In an interview with The Nerdist to promote his potential new series Bosch (based on Michael Connolly's series of excellent books), Titus Welliver briefly commented on Transformers: Age of Extinction.
“I’ve now won the hard earned respect of my children because I’m in a Transformers film, and I’ve always wanted to work with Michael Bay and certainly Mark Wahlberg and Kelsey Grammer.” And what can fans look forward to in this installment? “It’s a bit more of a darker vision of the Transformers world… It’s not a kids movie, I’ll tell you that much.”I can't really disagree considering it's likely PG-13 rating but good luck to parents keeping their kids away considering the movie has the killer combo of transforming dinosaurs.
