More CGI Transformer Images

Jalopnik.com has thrown up four more Transformer related images. The images seem to be edited, with the bottom of them cut off in most cases. I am not sure but I think the Optimus Prime and Bumbleebee have been leaked before but posting them anyway just in case. Particularly interesting to many might be the hint at Megatron and what appears to be a change on how his face is designed.

  3. We all could pretty much tell they were gonna go with the Bumblebee and Prime designs that had been leeaked up to this point, but seeing them in CGI kinda cements it in a way (these are probably tests for the rendering). HOWEVER, that image of Megatron.... I never liked the Megatron design and am severly dissapointed they are gonna use it. They could have done something a lot better. Because honestly... WTF IS THAT THING IN THE PIC!? HIS HAND!?

  4. I get the feeling they just wanted to make a robot movie and borrowed the transformers license.

  5. I guess I'm one of those people that don't mind these designs. I always thoughts one of the thrills of Transformers was when a new spin-off came out, seeing what the new designs were. Hell, Energon Optimus annoyed me a hell of a lot more than the movie Optimus (at least thus far.) Personally, I like 'em.

  6. They're starting to grow on me. The Optimus is actually pretty good IMO. Bumblebee is acceptable. Even Ratchet's design I'll warm up to eventually.

Having said that, Megatron will still take some patience. But frankly, I didn't like the RID Megatron, and I came to accept him. So if they do commit to this design for the movie I'll probably accept it too. But still disappointed as of now.

  7. Has anyone seen any pics of Bumblebee as the 70's Camaro? Or does he even transform to robot in that state? (I haven't read the script)

  8. When did CGI become real? What I meant was official?

  9. Of course CGI is not real; but real != official :-)
sorry, I knew what you meant. I was being a bastard!

  10. Why does Megatron's face look like a snake? Is it me or does anyone else see this?

  11. am i the only fan to be creaming themselves over these designs. cant wait see em come alive on the big screen. Cant really understand the hysteria that alot of u are giving out. A live action film has to be different to the cartoons. If they had any of the designs from the cartoons it just wouldnt work...it wud be way too cheesy n camp. (thank god xmen went for a new wardrobe in the movies!)TF designs have changed loads over the years so why wouldnt a LIVE movie be any different. Lets just hope they get the characters/voices/dialogue/script etc right.

  12. I have to agree with the previous comment here. I've been keeping up on all this hype and complaining on the numerous sites without saying anything, and just rolling my eyes at it all. But it's reeeeally starting to get annoying. I'm an artist and am coming from these (leaked) designs from a visual point of view.

When I was in college, I knew plenty of concept artists and alot of my friends were actual computer animation majors... I'm also a comic book fan and loved the artwork from some of the Dreamwave series when they did Transformers comics (even if most of the stories were kinda lacking). Now, I can understand people's initial reaction in seeing these designs and saying "that's not what I know to be Bumblebee/Optimus Prime/whoever." But it's been months and months of it, and people are starting to be ridiculous. These designs are COOL. They're not flawless, no, but overall, they're really, really damn good. Again, as an artist, trust me, you DON'T want to see the original G1 bots rendered CGI realistically. It would be blocky and BORING looking. The more of these moving parts and small gears there are, the better! But something that gets me the most is how people complain about the HEADS. I am personally loving these designs for the heads! In animation, a metal humanoind face that has moving lips and eye expressions may work just fine (ala G1 or even Beast Wars), but in real life, it would just look faked and obviously computer generated. This kind of 'gas mask' look (I like to think of it as) that we're seeing is actually a really cool idea. Now we just have to wait and see how it's gonna be animated and what it's like when they speak.

Now, sure, I DO hold my personal reservations about some of the designs (such as: these bots break into such small pieces, how is that going to be animated where we don't see the seamlines when they're in vehicle mode?). But instead of complaining and b*tching up a storm on various websites, I just scratch my chin and ponder on how they'll do it, and wait and see. Because we're ALL going to see this movie and I think we ALL know no matter what's different, it's going to be a great, great action movie. Which is exactly what the Transformers franchise is!

Sorry for the long ranting comment! :) Thanks!
