It turns out that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen may have a new ARG (alternate reality game) marketing campaign just like they did with Sector 7 for the first movie. As site reader Mauri noted, if you watch the new trailer, at the 1:08 point, you will notice that Sam has a jacket on and along the back it says "www.therealeffingdeal.com" (left pic). If you go to that site you are then asked for login credentials.
So I did a search to see if any Transfans found the username and password. No luck but the guys over at TFW2005.com did discover another Easter Egg in the trailer, a code (right pic, circled) that gives you access to Stormbringer, a gold character in Battle of the AllSpark game. No idea how they decoded it but it becomes 091784 or 09/17/84 the day that the original Transformers cartoon debuted.I checked the first trailer and didn't spot anything but then I didn't notice anything in the second trailer either. Hopefully more clues and fun will come out as we reach June 24th.

ReplyDeleteI think the symbols are specific to the game site, not to the movie. If you go to the game site, there is a countdown timer in symbol form. It's not hard to figure out the numbers/symbols from that.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that's Sam's Jacket. The hair seemed too curly, and if you watch the trailer, Sam's jacket has a hood. I think the guy wearing the jacket saying "therealeffingdeal.com" is Sam's friend... and I'm pretty sure I had heard something about the friend having a conspiracy website... so that makes more sense in my opinion.

ReplyDeleteOk peoples, late comment but I just found this. Just to let you know, breaking the cybertronian(I know I might have misspelled that) code was not hard. Go to the game site and watch the counter, its in that language. If you figure in what it is counting down to, and watch the symbols, you can make a key for the numbers and therefore read numbers from the symbols in the trailer.

I sent Matthew Cohan, the regstrar of the site and a producer on the film a message on facebook. His reply stated that there would be much to come from that site soon. The way I read it was that "therealeffingdeal.com" is not entirely live yet.

It's digitally added... How i prove it?... Check the screener version of the trailer (The one that was shown on the theater in the 28 of april with transformers 1). If you can see.. In that trailer, there's NO code in the board...
Somehow, that makes me think, that the online debut, was delayed because "that V2 code" (can you see V2 logo under de code)...

ReplyDeleteGranted i got the language wrong but still it could be a clue if anyone translates it. Seeing as the Cybertronian symbols greatly resemble Hebrew language i didnt know.
Also they might remove the code or replace it with something different when it comes to the final film like they have done with Devastator in the shot with someone running. Devastator was added later.
