Transformers 2 in 2009?

According to Lying in the Gutters, a comic/entertainment rumor site (about a 70% accuracy rate), preperation has already begun for Transformers 2 for 2009 and a cartoon series based off the first movie.

From the site:

ROBOTS IN DIS GUISE

"Transformers 2" is being prepped for 2009, as is a new cartoon series to spin off the upcoming movie.

The reason given to licensors as to why the robots look so different in the film is so that hardcore fans will stay loyal and keep buying the old toys, which they're relaunching, even if they hate the new movie.

Licensing has explicitly stated that companies doing merchandising have to avoid doing anything too similar to the original Transformers line, so as not to mix the two separate and profitable properties.

The rumor has legs mainly because "prepped" can have such a wide open interpretation. It could run the gamet of Bay and Spielberg in a room going "hey you thinking about directing the sequel?" to as far as scriptwriters assigned and working on a draft.

More then likey it just means the studio has high hopes for the film and if the opening week does the money they hope it does (I am thinking they are aiming for $100 million week), the penciled in hope for a sequel gets written in ink. The goal is to build a franchise and lots of money has been invested. Of course the same was done for Eragon, and look what happened. Characters, story and execution, the pillars of a successful franchise (or any movie really), falter in any and all the kings money can't put the franchise back together again.

The bit about the fans buying both lines, as a collector of the toys, pretty insulting. Also accurate. Damn them and their pretty toys.

  7. Starscream flew into space, exactly opens up for the second movie. Does anyone remember if it was Starscream who helped Unicron back to life? Unicron which by the way also rebuilt Megatron. Which could possible be the plot for a trilogy.

  11. i just want to know, did barricade ever die because the last i saw of him, he was behind bonecrusher before bonecrusher went into battle with optimus prime.everyone is talking about how starstream made it out but no one is talking about barricade. they didn't even show anything at the end of the movie to show if he's still alive like they did with starstream.

  12. people say that when bonecrusheer and prime fell off the highway, in the original script, barricade was suposed to jump off the highway to help bonecrusher then prime knocked him out

  14. in the 1st one star scream leaves earth at the end to bring back more decepticons so i guess the new plot is the auto bots fighting the new decepticon led by star scream and their might be some thing about unicron the planet eater coming to earth and bring megatron back to life and using him

  16. I've loved transformers ever since I saw it and that is why I watch the movie nearly every week, It's true. I love Starscream, He's kewler than the others and he kicks ass. (My opinion though)

Starscream is leaving for Cybertron to gather forces, In the scene of him leaving he says: "I'm running out of time" but was never subtitled. When Starscream is attacking the F-22's he saw his chance to take out Megatron and so he did.

All I know is that Skorponok (scorpian) Kills himself for Megatron to Revive and come back as Galvatron. I think Eventually Mgatron/Galvatron Kills Starscream (nuuu :[)

Cant wait till it comes out though!
