Transformers Movie 3-D Card Game Site Launches

The official website for Wizards of the Coast Transformers 3D Battle Card Game has launched. The game is apparently similar to Star Wars, Magic, etc in that use card attributes to do battle. Only in this case the plastic cards can be assembled into a robot or alt mode using punch out pieces.

The site itself currently provide information about the game, what the cards and assembled figured looks like for about 5 of the 26 total designs. Probably to most interesting part is that the set includes Transformers not in the movie but follow the movie design such as Cliffjumper and Dropkick with no images yet of Protoform Bumblebee, Swerve (now an Autobot), and Dreadwing. I wonder if some of those designs are for the video game also.

Retail price is $3.99 for 4 randomly inserted cards (that can build to TFs), two stat cards, token card and game rules. The game will be released on June 2, 2007, the same date as the toy launch in retail stores.

  2. More proof that WOC was a one trick wonder. They did good with Magic. It was even patented. Doubt it really was earned, but it's filed. Personally patents of this type make me lose faith the patented system.

Beyond the fad that was Magic(adult), and the Poke'mon(kid) card game, they really don't have much else going for them. At least card game wise. But this shows their still willing to see if the dog still hunts. Good for them, but maybe this dog needs the "Yeller treatment."

In any case, a lackluster game for a lackluster explosion/CG/chase/romance/action/comedy thing.

If only Hasbro could have afforded the guy that did 300! Wow! But they couldn't even afford Sam Raimi. There is hope that in about 5-10 year people will want the (good) Transfomers back.

There is hope. They did make a Gozilla film after that horrid thing Hollywood did. And there was a Doctor Who after Fox did a bad TV movie.

  3. NOT OL'YELLER!
I agree about WotC...but everything I've read said that Bay was their first choice...
As for the guy that did 300....was in the middle of 300....and Sam was doing SM3... If you watched the "good" Transformers again, you will (or should anyway) figure out that it was quite stupid...it was dumbed down for children because they were, in fact, trying to sell a toy...
As for the Godzilla film...that was done by the Japanese....the Americans did the Doctor Who TV movie....and the 'new' Doctor Who series is now back in the hands of who created it...the British.
