Jail Break of Megatron?

Slashfilm, in reporting about 20 Transformers in TF II, slipped in a rumor from one of their readers involving shooting at the Eastern State Penitentiary near Philadelphia. Apparently the use of scale models of Megatron, Optimus Prime and Starscream where used in the scouting. Does this mean the return of Megatron or they just using his model just for scaling purposes? What will the old prison be used for?

“My girlfriend works at Eastern State Penitentiary in the Fairmount area of Philadelphia. It was used as a prison from 1829 until 1971, and is now a historical site and museum. Anyway, at the prison today producers for Transformers 2 were on site with scale models of Megatron, Optimus Prime and Star Scream and were scouting filming locations in cell block 1 and the prison kitchen. Just thought I’d let people know that filming should begin here soon.”

  1. Why would a 30+ foot robot be imprisoned in a human prison? Hmmmmmmm. . . unless the prison is a front for a lab where Megatron is revived.

If they do shoot at Eastern State Penitentiary, hope they bring a medium, or Ghosthunters along with them, as that place is HAUNTED with a capital H.

  2. Prison could be front or maybe it just looks cool and saves the cost on building specific sets (i.e. long hallways or large yards). Maybe it's a battle scene and they need to visualize the size and scope using models (I was a kid and did that too).

  3. Wasn't Eastern State Penitentiary featured on that Sci-Fi Channel show, "Ghost Hunters" recently?

The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) confirmed there was some supernatural stuff going on :p

  4. You are correct, Sir(Richard). TAPS was filming there, and there was one moment in the show where they caught an apparition running towards the camera, then it turned around, and ran off in the opposite direction. The video's on youtube, and it looks pretty creepy.

Then, the Ghosthunters guys tried to debunk what they say by re-enacting it, and they could not duplicate it at all.

There's also several other reports of weird events happening there, and history, i.e. Al Capone doing time there back in the day, with an elaborately made-up jail cell, phantom dogs, and disembodied human noises.

  5. Transformers sans Megatron would be a disaster. It's only obvious that he will be saved/rebuilt. Come on guys are you fans or not?

  7. I'm pretty sure Megs will be rebuilt - it will be interesting how Orci, Kurtzman and Kreugher (the screenwriters of TF2) will handle this one as the budget wouldn't be able to handle bringing in Unicron to revive him -or could it? Hmmmmmm. . . . . . .

  8. I think TAPS revives Megatron. Just kidding. =)

  10. This would be the most doubtful location for a trans-shoot. It's a ruin, the walls are literally crumbling, and everything about the structure, is _cramped_ by modern standards. Though it was used as a film set for 12 Monkeys. There isn't really enough room for even small vehicles in the Yard so you're not going to see much tearing around in it.

I can't picture anything being shot there, unless it's some sort of "aftermath" sequence and the film crew wants a wrecked building.

  11. Or, they could shoot this scene at Waverly Hills Sanatorium, LOL!!!!!(one of the MOST HAUNTED places in the US).

  13. I was at a BBQ party 1 block down from Eastern State Penitentiary today and they were inside shooting the film. One person at the BBQ said that last night they were shooting a chase scene on the street and they drove a Volkswagen Beetle into the prison. Also, a couple people there got to meet Michael Bay yesterday and said he was really nice to them.

  15. Now yes TAPS couldn't debunk it but it is fake if you look at the bottom left of the figure you see something white presumably a shoe. Now all you have to do is put the cover like a cape starting over your head, run backwards at the camara, and then run forward. But hey thats my theory, and why would galvatron emerge in TF2 when we havent heard talk about unicron?

  16. "why would galvatron emerge in TF2 when we havent heard talk about unicron?"

WHY? for the same reason Prime didn't have a trailer, BumbleBee was a Camaro concept (instead of a VW Beetle), and all other differenses...

WHY? Bekause movies always swap things around inkludeing storylines.. (e.g. Spiderman 3 with Venom with NO hint of Madam Web in any previous movie).

now, I'm not saying it's a rape as I quite enjoyed the first film, but the film industry does, has, and will kontinue to make swaps as THEY see fit.
