I work in Princeton and just watched the TF2 crew crash a silver Saturn Astra into the installed lamppost on the corner of Washington Road and William Street around 2 p.m. today. Before the crash itself they ran a few "test crashes," where the stunt driver screeched to a halt a foot or two before hitting the post, with the camera (on a boom) following the action from above. The actual crash knocked the ground-level cover off the post and ripped off the car's front bumper. After the crash the driver backed up slightly, then drove forward again for a few feet with the bumper under the front wheels, then stopped, opened the driver's side door, and fell to the ground. After the shot was over, the driver put the bumper in the car's backseat and drove the car down Washington Road (headed south), and as it passed me I could see that the front windshield had a hole the size of a baseball in it (with the appropriate spider webbing pattern in the surrounding glass). I'm not sure if that was there before the crash or not (I was about two blocks away from the crash itself). According to one of the PA's the next shot won't happen until tonight, though she didn't say where.
Thanks to Scott for the pictures and video.
first :D
ReplyDeletenice pics and vids
you guys on this blog are awesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey wrapped up around 8pm today. Was fun. Got to meet Shia and Bay. The crew was crazy about pics so any that pop up are golden. I've got a few I'll send in later.
ReplyDeletewhen and where tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteOh Yeah, about the Extras, I think Bay could have been a bit more realistic as ever female extra in the scene was hot, last time I strolled past Princeton I didn't see that many brainy beauties
ReplyDeleteMy cousins and i got to talk to Bay. He was pretty cool. We didnt ask him questions about the film because we knew he would mislead us. So we just asked if he had had any ideas for the
ReplyDeleteaction scenes and he said "Just sit and watch, its gonna be big." Then left. But not before he gave me his autograph.
it's princeton regulation that you can't start filming until 7am and you must stop by 10pm so don't expect any night shots from Princeton, that's what Philly was for!
ReplyDeletedoes anybody know where they'll be shooting tomorrow? i heard that today was for most of the outdoor shots and tomorrows for the indoors, but i'm not sure. has anyone heard anything from anyone?
ReplyDeletei love this blog but just as a side rant, that was crap video. great trees there mate.
ReplyDeletesorry. couldn't help it. members of the crew were coming up and down looking for people trying to take pics. so I couldn't make it obvious or I would have been kicked out of the area.
ReplyDeleteok love this site but those videos sucked, you ever used a camera before.
ReplyDeleteI was there as well, one key scene around 7ish had Shia's character talking frantically on his cell saying: Makela, do you have it....do you have it?....ok don't touch anything~ It was shot a bunch of different times, he was frustrated one point and said _uck pretty loud. Everyone was really cool, met Shia with some other fands and of course Michael Bay is probabaly the most laid back director I've ever met, he let me take a pic for these 2 kids and gave the one his Transformers 2 notebook to hold.
