Two brief updates about Transformers 2 production from site readers. The first is about the casting call in Arizona where Chris reports that its for a one day shoot to be held possibly on the 6th, but since production is a day behind it might be the 7th. The extras, which will be needed for 8-12 hours, will be cast as TSA agents and airport travelers.
In addition there will be a shoot at The Boneyard at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ (not sure if extras are going there). The Boneyard or The 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) is a reference to where military aircraft go after being taken out of service. Lots of planes, Michael Bay, and Transformers...makes you wonder if a lot of boom is planned.
Tomorrow is expected to be the last day Transformers 2 production will be at Holloman Air Force Base and White Sands. Apparently on that day military ID holders can visit the set but might want to verify that before just showing up.
As for where Transformers 2 is shooting between White Sands and The Boneyard, your guess is as good as mine. Thanks to Chris and Tamara for their information.

ReplyDeleteWow... maybe lotsa planes gonna get blown up like how Blackout did in part 1 :)
ReplyDeleteYea and maybe the person who posted first will learn how to spell in this scene too!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the really off topic post, but I saw Eagle Eye on Sat., sadly there was no trailer for Transformers, but it was still an awesome movie!
ReplyDeleteEagle Eye was good. Though its score on RottenTomatoes is a BIT lower than I expected :p

ReplyDeleteTo the anonymous person who was expecting to see a TF:ROTF trailer in front of, "Eagle Eye" - let's be real! Michael Bay hasn't even finished filming, and there's no way in hell that ILM and Digital Domain can have enough of the animation and rendering done to do a trailer, especially at this time.
ReplyDeleteIn the special features of the TF1 DVD, they said it took 38 HOURS to render one frame of animation. Now in 35 millimeter film, 24 frames=one second, I don't know what the equation is for 70 millimeter (I think Bay is shooting this one in 70mm). Anyway, multiply that until you get how many frames makes up a minute, then an hour, then 2 hours and at the same time, multiply 38 hours accordingly. . .well, you get the picture. In other words, it's going to take MONTHS for ILM & Digital Domain. Let's hope TF2 is still released on 6-26-9. We'll see.
That's awesome news!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that's where the Fallen is..
isn't that where planes/jets go once retired?
maybe the fallen is hiding there?
theyr should take advantage of this and introduce the aerialbots
ReplyDeleteFUCK I NEED A TRAILER TO EASE MY MIND!!
ReplyDeleteATLEAST IRON MAN IS COMIN OUT ON BLU-RAY KEEP ME SANE :]..
A military aircraft cemetery? I wonder if Bay is going to add the Aerialbots combiners in the movie then... otherwise why using such a place in the movie ?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember the G1 Anime and how the Aerialbots born ? They were created using broken airplanes on Earth that Optimus and the Autobots brought to Cybertron to give them life....
A little history....

"Does anyone remember the G1 Anime and how the Aerialbots born ? They were created using broken airplanes on Earth that Optimus and the Autobots brought to Cybertron to give them life...."
ReplyDeleteWOW, and here i tought, that they were made from Cybertronic vechicles... (watching G1 episode again") Stupid cartoon, they say here the same thing, as i did ;P
In other words... yes, we remember. Propably way better, than you ;P
"In the special features of the TF1 DVD, they said it took 38 HOURS to render one frame of animation."
ReplyDeleteThat's probably on a single computer. If you have a network rendering farm of 100 computers, then technically you can animate 100 frames in 38 hours.

Michael bay said in an interview earlier about Arcee and who will do her voice.
ReplyDeleteHe said there are some women out there that he liked. he said one he thought you be good is Fergi.
Could you imagine seeing Arcee ridin to "Fergilicious?"

ReplyDeletebut Variety reports that Michael Bay is filming at least three action sequences from the upcoming sequel using IMAX cameras. !!!!
I live in Phoenix, a couple of hours north of Tucson, and I've been to the Boneyard. If they're filming there, it's going to be COOL!
