Transformers 2 Trailer in Czech, Russian (Updated)

Below is the new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen trailer only it is dubbed (rather badly) in czech. According to Milan, who sent the link, Transfans in the Czech Republic are considering not going to the movie. Subtitles or dubbing, which do you prefer?

The YouTube embed doesn't seem to be working so click here to view it.

Update: Another dubbed version of the trailer, this time in Russian, here. Thaks to ghola-tleilaxu for link.

  1. As for any forgin movie, i would go with subs. Its way less distracting IMO. There are never "good" movie translations.

  2. If you have subtitles, people will want dubbing. If you have dubbing, people will want subtitles. Either way, people will enjoy the method of translation and people will hate the method of translation.

Go with whatever method gets the most viewers. Let's get as many Czechs(?) to see it as we can! :D

  3. "There are never "good" movie translations."

Yeah, there are. Night Watch and Day Watch for example.

  4. Actually, there just aren't good movie translations in the U.S. (with a few exceptions). Subbing has generally proven to be the preferred method by American audiences.

However, in Europe (I am not sure about all countries, but Germany definitely) dubbing is very popular. Almost every movie released in Germany gets dubbed over, unless of course it was already in German. They are just much better at it then we Americans are.

  8. I noticed, when wacthing this trailer, in general, that Megatron, even on his side, seems smaller than the constructicons. Would it be safe to assume that ALL constructicons are generally huge?

The constructicons in the cartoon were the same size as the other robots, but from the looks of it, they are much Bigger than any Autobot OR Decepticon.

  9. @ Michael

That is mainly due to the fact there is no mass shifting in the movie universe.

And since the Constructicons are construction vehicles, which are rather huge in comparison with cars, then its easy to see why their robot forms are so huge.

There is just much more mass and parts in a mining truck like Long Haul, as compared to MPVs like Skids and Mudflap.

  15. I'm from The Netherlands and there is gladly no dubbing, except animation and movies for kids, fortunatly they show animation like Ice Age as well in original English version for adults like me(32years).
    Dubbing sucks,and I rather see no subs as well,cause I don't them.
I learned English through my childhood watching Transformers,G.I.Joe and He-Man.Nowadays day they show Transformers Animated in The Netherlands dubbed,so the kids don't learn English early like I did.

There's nothing like hearing Peter Cullen as Prime!!

  16. Hi, I am webmaster of czech Transformers fansite www.transformers2.cz and I think I speak for most of the czech TF fans when I say, that we really dont wan´t this movie whith czech dubbing. First of all it´s action film (from Michael Bay for godsake!) and our movie distribution companies made dubbing of the first movie for kids. That means not even the names are translate (Ironhide - "Železňák", Ratchet - "Šroubek", Starscream - "Žahavec"; trust me, you dont wan´t to know what that means :), bad the dubbing it self is really amateurish, even that czech dubbings are in most cases very good and they´re considered as some of the best dubbings in the world.

Right now czech TF fans are appeling on our movie distributors in oder to relase more copies of the movie with original sound to the cinemas. So wish us luck. :)

  17. Dubbing makes me sick. I'm glad we don't dub movies here in Sweden, except real disney kiddie stuffs that runs at 3.00 p.m in movie theaters. Same kiddie content that runs during the evenings instead during daytime are just subbed not dubbed.

  18. I'm Czech myself and I must that dubbing is probably the worst thing ever invented (movie-wise). It completely ruins any director intentions, actor/actress performance and so on. Unfortunately we are dumb nation that is too lazy to read the subtitles... At least there should be around 4 copies with original sound in the biggest cinemas.

  19. ^agreed. cinemas should release both dubbed and subtitled versions...

  21. Here in Malta, practically everyone speaks fluent English, those who don't still understand enough to see a movie, so nothing is dubbed and subs aren't shown in cinemas. however we are close enough to Italy to pick up their tv and in Italy EVERY movie is Dubbed, even TV shows are as well! and as Anon @ 12:37 said, it completely ruins the actors performance and takes all feeling away from the Movie/show leaving everything an empty shell void of emotion.
