Morshower Returns, Starscream's Death?, and a Video

photo from Jesse Grant, Wireimage.comTo my knowledge, Transformers 3 production continues in Chicago but going by the lack of news they have figured out a way to do it out of sight of the general public.Having said that, we do have a casting confirmation, rumor about Starscream and the final part of a behind the scene's video.

To start, Glenn Morshower has updated his website noting his role on "the upcoming Transformers 3." Considering that the Chicago videos have demonstrated that NEST plays a prominent part in a lot of the action, to me the only real question is does his character of General Morshower join in on the front lines or continue to command behind the scenes. Thanks to Chris for the link.

The next bit of news comes from a baseball cap store website. According to StricklyFitteds.com, "Hardcore Eddie kills Starscream." This info comes from a blog post on the website with pictures from Lester Speigh (Gears of War) who plays Eddie, a probable member of NEST. In a separate video post (below), clearly taken right in the middle of production at the North Michigan Avenue Bridge, Speigh talks about the website's hats and ends with "I got to go kill some Decepticons." If the rumor of Megatron's death is true, it is safe to say the rest of the core Decepticon cast follows (otherwise just repeating the end of TF1) so not surprised if Starscream dies. What would surprise me is if an unknown single NEST member did it. I suspect that a NEST group with Eddie does participate in taking out Starscream but the kill shot is probably left to Epps or Lennox. Thanks to DJ Bigtyme Beats and John for the link.

Last but not least, Sam has posted the third part of his behind the scenes videos taken along Wacker Drive on July 26th and 27th. The 3 videos show lots of the behind the scenes prep that goes into the filming. At the time it was for bits involving filming for scenes involving Hotchkiss Gould Investments (aka the 7/11) and with the required Bayhem. Part 3 is below. It mostly shows some upside down Bus prep, and helicopter action. If interested in the rest of the series, Part 1 shows off the Decepticon Armored Car and more while Part 2 involves the "police" prep and response to a TF3 related event.

  5. They are setting up to film along Wabash Ave between Randolph and Lake St. right now. I just walked through the set on my way home.

Also if you want to see that large blue chunk of transformer that we thought was a lower leg peice, its sitting in a lot on corner of E Illinois St, and N New St. If I can get over there I'll take some close ups, but I can't guarantee I'll be over there, or that it will still be there.

  6. I hope Starscream doesn't get killed off, but it this truly is the last in a trilogy with a reboot coming, then I wouldn't be surprised. I just hope they make him a bad-ass again. I hated how they made him one of the most bad-ass Decepticons in the first film, but turned him into a pussy in the second.

  7. To anonymous 5:59 PM:

If you're so concerned about spoilers, maybe you should refrain from visiting a website that is entirely devoted to providing news about the characters, plot, production etc. about an upcoming film.

  8. I think it is a given that Starscream buys it this time out. My only hope is Megatron plays a huge part before random NEST guy takes the credit for the job. Maybe it is his ghost that finds itself in the race driver CEO guy that Sam is fighting with at the end? Maybe that is who the NEST guy shoots? This can be fanwanked a dozen different ways as is. Just remember it came from the Don Murphy boards.

  15. Just because he said: "I'm out! I gotta go kill some decepticons" you all think he will kill starscream? - I think that was just Saying to end the video and not actually a scene from the script or whatever...

  16. I wish there was more character development for the transformers in these movies. I love the movies, dont get me wrong, but I wonder if all the detail that the put into the CGI is a bit unnecessary? look at the cartoones and toys. we didnt need to see all the gears moving and everything. they could get a way with more if they had more body panels covering up the parts that they labor so hard for. lower the costs and develop the characters and get more of them. It can be done.

  17. @"Anonymous 8/17/2010 12:44 AM"---What? If the CGI on Transformers movies wasn't so much detailed the general public would have considered it to be a silly joke and a pathetic live action cartoon, and it would have looked like that with lower quality CGI.

  22. Well if killing Starscream is necessary then I'm in for it.

    I won't like it though...

  23. Since it's the last movie (meaning the next will be a reboot), I don't really mind that major characters like Starscream dies in the end. It's the way it will happen that's important. A typical ROTF-death would be that Starscream just suddenly appears in the end of the movie without any explanation, and then gets whacked after five seconds. I just hope he makes a significant impact before he eventually gets killed. And I totally agree with Matt K, Starscream was way much cooler in the first movie.

And also I have to say the main reason I love these movies (at least the first one) is the way the robots are designed. I love the details and the realistic look of them. Still, Anon12:44AM does have a point. You just can't have everything at once, at least not within the time limits the filmmakers are operating under. This means that the more CGI-work is being made on details, the less screen-time and character development you are gonna get for each individual robot. Making the CGI for these robots, and making them look real and cool, is time-consuming and difficult work. I think this was apparent in ROTF. You mostly saw detailed transformations of the robots that was already developed in the first movie. We hardly saw the Constructicons transform, Sideways transformation was just a blur, Demolisher's was mostly covered in dust and Megatron's alt-mode was a joke. I personally also think that Soundwave was initially intended to come to earth and fight with the autobots in ROTF, but that they didn't have time to develop his robot form. So instead they used a clone of Blackout from the first movie for the forest-fight scene ( not necessarily meaning that Soundwave would have been killed). I also noticed that the prototype that picked up Sam's parents in Paris had Blackout's head.

  24. i'm not all that surprised. since it IS the last movie, it'll really end and all the loose ends, tightened. if Starscream were to live, then as far as I can see, that would be a plot hole.

  25. lets face it if this is the end, then the humans have to win, i just hope the decepticons take some serious victims, would love to see both lennox and epps kick the bucket, that'll knock home the seriousness of the threat. i'm sure starscream will do something unexpected in the middle of the battle for his own personal gain, which then leads to his death.

  26. i dont agreed "Anonymous 8/17/2010 3:51 PM" the main characters of the movie are (sam,BB,optimus, megatron, starscream, epps and lennox.)the other robots are just soldiers just like in the cartoon but the problem is that was a cartoon for children so they dint show death all the time like in the movieand they have to keep showing them all the time in the show..and i dont think starscream is going to be kill that easy, the only reason devastator got kill like that in revenge.is bcus that was high tech wepon given by the autobots.whats the point give alot of characters so much develop if there going to die in 10 or 20 minutes of the movie it makes no sences..

  27. Nooooooo!!!! Starscream hand man not die! Do not die at all! It's my favorite Decepticon. I do not want to die like this! When they Optimus hands And no other people! He is not weak! NO! Starscream can not die!

    ReplyDelete
  28. No! Starscream is my favourite character! Starscream must stay alive! If he dies, I'm gonna cry so much. That would be so unfair.

...Or then I will find the Matrix and wake him up!
