Transformers Linkfest

Time for another linkfest. More galleries with emphasis on upcoming Transformers: Generations toys along with a few reviews.

Transformers United Kup and Perceptor
Hit link for few images of the G1 character re-imagined with new alt modes. "United" is Takara's name for the Generations line from Hasbro. A leak from Hasbro Malaysia indicates the figures will get a stateside release in February along with Wheeljack, Rumble, Frenzy, Wreck-Gar and few others (links to their galleries below).

Transformers On Sale
Not sure for how long but Wal-Mart has dropped the price on Deluxe and Power Core Combiner 5-packs. The Deluxe sizes, including Generations are selling for $9 instead of retail of $12. The Power Core figures are $15 instead of $20, a pretty good price point if on the fence about trying these toys out (or buying ahead for Christmas). In addition, Target is selling the Power Core 2-packs for $7. Personally I used the sale to snag Generations Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Drift. All are pretty solid figures that match the Generations line well and warm my fuzzy nostalgic heart.

Transformers Generations Galleries
Soundwave & Red Alert | Legends G1 Wave | Wreck-Gar, Jazz, Tracks | Frenzy, Rumble, Wheeljack, Scourge I | Frenzy, Rumble, Wheeljack, Scourge II | Turbo Tracks

More Generations Galleries. Soundwave and Red Alert are on store shelves now. Legends class wave 5 is a homage to G1 with Trailbreaker, Prime, Starscream, Goldbug, Megatron (with handgun alt mode) and Prowl. Turbo Tracks is apparently part of the main Transformers line but based on the pictures he would fit right at home in the Generations line.

How To Make Optimus Prime Costume from Cereal Boxes
If you have around seven hours, strong creativity and get hold of enough cardboard, you can make a pretty good looking Prime costume in time for Halloween. Personally this kind of crafting is beyond my skill set but maybe not others.

More Transformers: Prime Images
Hit the link to view the new images of Prime, Bulkhead, Starscream, and Soundwave (jet alt mode) as they will look in the upcoming cartoon that may debut at the end of November.

Reveal the Shield Lugnut, Strafe and Storm Grapple
Another gallery, this is for two voyager class toys for the next wave of Transformers toys that will hit stores in time for Christmas. Reveal the Shield will replace "Hunt for Decepticons" as the name of the line. I think all are repaints.

Masterpiece Sleep Convoy Video Review
The most current re-re-re-re-release of the Masterpiece Optimus Prime mold, this one comes with a clear plastic trailer and Prime painted to match his dull black & white look after he died in Transformers: The Movie. While really digging the clear plastic look, the price tag of $200+ is probably not worth it if you already have a previous version of this mold.

Generations Red Alert Video Review

Another Peaugh review, this time for Red Alert. This is like the fourth or fifth remake of this particular mold that starts back the very first Classic wave from about 4 or so years ago. My love of the Classic/Generations/United line means I will have to pick it up but really if already have the mold, there isn't much point unless just like the paint job.

Takara Animated Rodimus
The animated line continues to roll out in Japan and as usual they often still get the cool stuff before us, even for a years old line. To my knowledge, Hot Rod will get a release as a Toys R Us exclusive but so far have not seen it on toy shelves. Always strange to me that despite Transformers success for Hasbro, Takara continues to show so much more, and often with better quality results.
