In a run up to the beginning of the New York Toy Fair 2011 being held this weekend, Hasbro has released official images of three new Transformers: Dark of the Moon toys to
Entertainment Weekly. The images prove officially what we all suspected.
Sentinel Prime alt mode is the red fire truck, Megatron's new alt mode is worn down tanker truck and the crashed ship on the moon seen in the
teaser trailer is
The Ark. The Ark is not a Transformer but a kids playset while Sentinel is Leader class (not voyager as first thought) and Megs is voyager class. The pics also verify with the distinct bearded robot is the one discovered on the Ark by the Apollo 11 crew. Makes you wonder what other movie theories might be verified during the Toy Fair. No movie details were revealed but he did say that the Dark of the Moon video game is going to be a prequel to the movie rather than a direct adaptation as was done for previous movie games. He also said on Monday, Michael Bay would be on hand to show more footage from the film. The

ReplyDeleteIn terms of the Ark, the EW article says that, "In the cartoon, it served as the Autobot headquarters, but in Dark of the Moon that smashed hulk that serves as Sentinel Prime’s living tomb is the updated version of The Ark."
ReplyDeleteThey say "living tomb." That could be interpreted to mean the Ark itself is alive and possibly a transformer, or it could just mean that Sentinel Prime is still alive in the ship.
Here's hoping it means the earlier of the two and that the Ark is good old Omega Supreme!!!

And don't get me started with the Prime thing, that discrepancy has been discussed in many forums with a very simple answer that you could come up with by yourself if you use your brain just a little bit, nothing much I won't harm you, I promise.
can someone explain to me why ROTF is hated so much. I've seen plenty bad movies and ROTF to me was fairly good....not great but it was entertaining to me. (answers like "bay sucks" doesnt work)

ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people are taking the ROTF script far too seriously. Remember, it was hashed out during a writer's strike. It was rushed and just plain stupid on so many levels. Bay admits that because that's the responsible thing for a director to do. You have to admire that he takes the blame for the WRITERS for ROTF. I'm sorry some of you don't see it that way, but that's the truth.

Now that writers are not on strike and the script is (thankfully) not helmed by Orci and the other dude, I'm actually kind of excited to see what we'll have this time around.

ReplyDeleteAs far as ROTF is concerned Lionboogy, I have to disagree with you: Bay didn't apologize until long after the shit hit the fan, basically recently, when he had those reporters from collider.com visit him in an edit suite. I recall Bay not even giving a damn about the complaints in interviews when ROTF was out, saying, "Well we wanted to put in something funny for the kids." I also recall Orci & Kurtzman saying that Bay dictated alot of what was written, and that they voluntarily decided to not return for TF3, but that Ehren Kreuger, (whom they also stated was partly the reason why ROTF sucked), also created much of the content that pissed people off. Yes, there was a writer's strike, but that in itself still doesn't excuse the crappy tired-ass B.S. that polluted (to some extent) ROTF. To be brutally honest, while DOTM has been stated to be a better story, I'm extremely skeptical and may even wait to see it.

We all know that their was problems with the writing in ROTF and I'm sure we all don't want that to roll into DOTM, so I would love to hear how you are so sure this "Last Prime" problem will not be a problem in DOTM in other words.....ENLIGHTEN ME!!

Maybe Sentinel was still alive and none of the Autobots knew yet, making the Autobots believe Optimus was the only Prime left. Or maybe the Allspark fragment is used to bring him back to life? Maybe the Allspark has re-constructed itself by this point. So I'm not against bringing another Prime into the movie.

I can see it falling on Sentinel and Optimus fighting side by side against Shockwave. That's the ending right there with a massive destruction streak along the way leaving Chicago a heaping pile of slag.
ReplyDeleteFrom reading the ROTF novel, before seeing the film. The main issue was tossing out the "Stasis lock" concept from the film. I guess under the time crunch we didn't get the scene with Ratchet explaining that to sam after the forest fight. The film played it off as Optimus being dead. The writers put stasis lock into the script. The writers are not the issue on that. The ROTF film already messed up the continuity right there, that tiny change made a large gap. The added silly humor did very little if anything at all to fill that void.

ok lets get this clear. this is not G1 or the comics. soooo there was no matrix to pass on to a new leader. the matrix was a power source and was already used and seemingly destroyed in ROTF. also prime is a title of leadership in most TF continuities. doesnt mean there has to be only one. also maybe the fallen knew the ark crashed into the moon and he assumed that sentinel was dead, or maybe he simply is an ass and made an assumption, and u know what happens when u assume.....lastly ORCI and KURTZMAN are the best PR guys when it comes to their own careers...if u didnt like ROTF (i loved it) blame orci and kurtzman..bay did not force them to write, they wrote it, orci even took personal credit for devastators balls. so dont even think theyre innocent. writers dont write at the iron fist of any director.....and one last comment about "stasis-lock"....the reason most likely it was removed from the movie was the general movie going audience wouldnt know or understand what that was...death was easiest. makes sense.

Thing I think is funny, and i know its just hopeful fans of G1, that people came up with all these people who the wreckers are going to be without looking up the wreckers in TF history to get a glimse at who the real possibilities are. Why do i say this? Because at least two of the NASCAR vehicles are named after main wrecker characters. Green NASCAR is Roadbuster and another is Topspin according to info released from the toy fair. So don't hope for anything else but bot who were wreckers in the past G1 fans.
