Update:Here is a fantastic comparison shot from the beginning of the trailer with a picture that Jeff of Pixel Rally took when Transformers 3 was filming at the MPEA Busway in Chicago this summer. It shows what a great camera angle combined with color correction and CGI can produce.Update 2: Here are 9 screenshots I gathered that show off moments on the Superbowl TV Spot. The first one is worth looking at just to see the destruction of the Chicago skyline with damaged, toppled and bent buildings. The next two show that Ironhide isn't colliding with one but both of the Suburban Dreads. The fourth shows more invasion destruction of Chicago. Fifth is a look at the worm thing. Sixth is Laserbeak complete with the homage to his G1 cassette look with turbines on his wings. The seventh pic shows Optimus Prime flying onto the scene (in front of Hotel 71) with Bumblebee and Ratchet on site. In the middle of that may be Soundwave but I think its just a drone that falls to Prime's blade in the next last two screenshots.

I can't wait to see Ironhide take on the Dreads, watching Soundwave come down to Earth (or him being thrown in battle)and just seeing all those ships attacking the city! Unfortunately, my only problem is that I saw a few Cons that should be dead (Brawl or whoever the character is and Long Haul). But I'll get over it! :D

ReplyDeleteI cazptured an image from the scene where Prime flies in, There is a beige colored robot, and he indeed does have Brawls head.
ReplyDeleteOk lets recap what we saw. First we are shown Chicago pretty destroyed, people evacuating and sam in an older car driving towards the city. next we see what i think is a skydiver jumping from an exploding V-22 osprey. Also in the background you can see buildings on fire and lean a little bit at the top. Next we see Ironhide crashing head on into a dread and then transforming in midair. The we see Bublebee looking very scared and or stressed out as, what I think, decepticon ships are flying overhead. Then we see decpticon ships firing on buildings at night. This is basically the footage we saw of explosions on rooftops during filming. Next we see something VERY BIG transforming on a street. Then we see a flying transformers, could be swoop but i'm going with Laserbeak on this one. The we see Sam and Epps lying down on the ground (probably taking cover) with, what i think, an Autobot standing in the background. Then we see Carly standing in front of a car flipping and exploding. And finally we see the autobots engaging decepticons while Optimus transforms from his flying mode and kills a couple of cons. Great trailer

The green bot was not Ratchet, I think it is one of the wreckers, the green Wrecker, That green Wrecker also blows away a con while Optimus flies in. As for the worm thing tearing up the street, I think it's shockwave, The thing at the end of the tentacles looks the same as the shockwave toy.

Other than him shooting and missing at Davastator in TF1 he is never more than simply "present" for any battle scenes. We've been looking at those huge cannons on his arms for two full movies so far. Just once, I'd like to see him fire those things straight into a decepticon and blow it up.....just once.

ReplyDeleteA few things I noticed. If you freeze it at the :15 mark you can see several small craft below the larger craft, and they look a LOT like that spaceship prop that we saw a lot of still photos of from the photos of filming in Chicago.

ReplyDeleteWhat some people don't realize is that some cybertronians are classed based. there were a few constructicons in the last movie only a small select could change in to devastator. so there could another con that looks like brawl. just like grindor and black out with differances

ReplyDeleteIf you pause it at :22, which is right when it cuts to Optimus flying in. You can see Bee and Ratchet in the lower left corner. An earlier poster said it ws not Ratchet, but he/she is wrong, and you can tell by looking at the tires. They are SUV tires, not NASCAR tires. You can see another Grindor/Blackout clone in the top middle standing at the far end of the open area. I believe that he gets cut in half in thye last frames of the trailer that show Optimus' rampage, and I support that claim because the trailer plays the same sound effect that played in ROTF when Prime cut off Grindor's bladed hand during the forest fight. A clone of Devastator (Brawl) is also in plain view around the center-right. You can see the missile rack on his right shoulder, which is the same missile rack that Jazz twisted and kicked off in when he fought the TF1 version of Devastator (Brawl).
Regarding clones, I think is important to consider that when a new bot arrives on the planet's surface, there is not always a lot of time to seek out a suitable alt mode to scan. Since we have seen bots scan an alt mode and then take on its form, it's pretty easy to conclude that the data generated by the scan is just that.....data. It seems likely that such data is transferrable, and as such it makes a lot of sense to me for bots to "share" forms with each other. Such an idea is not too different than the outcome of multiple bots scanning the same alt mode vehicle.

ReplyDelete2.to the speculation of jet-prime, if seen frame per frame, you can see that what's on optimus's back is a whole fighter jet, and within seconds it detaches, the most likely solution is areialbot.
3. It's obviously Laserbeak! for one, if paused at the right time you can clearly see a bird, not a pterasaur, and two, why can't a giant robot produce a giant robot bird (as compared to regular birds) from the scene we see o him, he's either scouting or sending a message, not spying, so there would be no reason to have him be the size ofa regular bird, also from what it looks like laserbeak is based off a falcon or some other big bird of prey, which i think would be pretty easy to notice if it was following me around
the jetpack on Prime's back is his trailer, it falls of as he is spinning and "f"ing up cons...i knew prime having his trailer would be awesome...i wanted to see the red ferari* but i guess it can wait...

I hope that's not an aerialbot, that would be almost a waste to use such great characters from the cartoons that could have such major potential as little pawns that just assist the major characters into battle and leave.

ReplyDeleteI really hope that's laserbeak, and I'm not a fan of cloned decepticon drones but if this wasn't a trailer and we all weren't so thirsty for any little trickle of CGI footage we probably wouldn't even notice them, I must say though, with this many robots and ships there's no way this movie is going to suck and I am praising god that its in a major city and not in some egyptian dessert for the big fight...that was super lame of bay in ROTF

ReplyDeleteIf you watch the video in slow motion you can see that Primes jet packs are painted the same as him with flames when he lands and spins around.
ReplyDeleteNow that we know that the main new bad guy is Shockwave, I doubt that the Quintessons are going to be brought into the mix. That said, one does wonder where the hell all those ships were back when The Fallen was trying to conquer Earth in the last film. In hindsight, it may have been useful to have brought them along.

ReplyDeleteAlso, I noticed that in the still photo of Lazerbeak, the right side of the photo depicts an old lookinbg ferris wheel, which I found quite odd for it's randomness.
Also, we've been told that the Chicago mega-battle is the climax of the movie. The photos show that all those ships are bombing the city either just before sunrise or just after sunset since it is dark but not night. So, the battle scenes with the Osprey's and Prime etc. are likely the next day (or later that same day if the ships arrived before sunrise). Thus, it seems that Prime, BB, and Ratchet survive at least until the end of the movie. That said, the scene of Ironhide and the Dreads contains no ships, no damage, and no smoke in the air. So, either those three fight off on their own, or that fight takes place at a different time in the movie than the mega-battle. I'm thinking that the loser (or losers) of that fight doesn't live to see the mega-battle.

ReplyDeleteRegarding who Optimus attacks in his mech suit, the first one is definately a Long Haul clone. A still shot of the second one is not so clear. While it appears that the right hand/wrist is at least partially composed of a car tire a la Barricade, the rest of the model does not look much like him, especially the color scheme. Now, if Barricade has a new alt mode, then I'm with you that it is indeed Barricade. I still theink that the last bot that Optimus attacks in that clip is a Grindor/Blackout clone based on the accompanying sounds, but it is hard to tell if the actual robot model supports my theory since it is blurry and you can only see part of it.

ReplyDeleteUmmm I could be wrong on this but I'm pretty positive that the spinning armed thing is Soundwave. The arms are the tenticles you see in ROTF. As is the body if you compare it to the scene when he attachs himself to the satalite or releases Ravage.

I'm guessing that the "jetpack" is still the parts from Jetfire, which he keeps where....? In his trailer. I think this idea has already been out there and I like it. The trailer its self probably doesnt transform I'd imagine, but who knows.
The idea of clones makes sense don't get me wrong, but like many i am not a fan. I would not mind if the movie was centered around the Transformers, like it is in the rest of the Transformer universe, but its not. The movies are about Sam, other humans,and then some aliens with minimal character developement or dialog. Because of this you just have a bunch of nameless robots really that we get stupid one liners from.
Why are the movies weak in general to me? Awesome robot action that is NOT backed up with awesome character dialog or developement. This movie will probably break records and be entertaining to watch but as far as continueing to develope or push forward in a good way the characters we love or even respecting the characters we love....it will fail like the first two in my opinion. Im not a hater. I love these films and the rest of the TF universe but story and respect for the character wise its how i see it.
Excuse me, but do any of you have an extra pair of underwear?

I am still hoping the space shuttle and its docking will become omega supreme! I hope this one has a real story and plot. The days of explosions only pleasing the crowd are over.

When prime lands I see a Brawl/Devestator body on ground, Longhaul in back, he shoots a drone, then punch/shoots a Sideways clone blowing it up, and the swords another bot I cant make out.

I thought Jetfire died and his most to all his parts got destroyed after Jet prime fought Megatron on TF2? If the bring back some old bots they need to bring back Barricade, Sideswipe and Arcee, Jazz. I think this might be the big one, the War Begins! Bring in EVERYONE! Bring in dead TF back, and bring the TF that are still alive and bring in all the TF that are not on the big screen yet.

He did a terrible mistake when he fired her.

Those strange looking ships certainly have a Quintesson-like feel about them. And the smaller ones look very much like the ship Shia and Rosie were climbing around on.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that tentacled robot in the street is Soundwave. If you pause it at the right moment, you can see a huge fanged mouth at the centre of it. To me it looks like some large robotic burrowing animal. Also, Soundwave was dark in color, but this one looks more silver colored.
And then it's the clones. I guess they've kind of made a statement with the identical looking dreads (black SUV's), saying that decepticon clones are a natural concept in these movies. The practical reason is of course to reduce budget and time constraints in the production.
What I can't understand is why they don't change the clones colors. That should be fairly easy to do from a technical viewpoint, and it would underline the fact that they are clones, and not former dead characters returning for no reason.

ReplyDeleteThe ROTF superbowl spottv also blow my mind the first time when i saw it (demolisher ...and other things) but i was extremly desapointed with the movie so i prefer to wait and see other trailer (in april i think?) and not be so exited because yes the disatre who was ROTF learned me a lot !

also, yes jetfire is till more than likely in the movie
but guys, just bcause silverbolt has been the only one announced, due to being voiced by uncle phil, doesn't mean there isn't more airealbots than just him, also why couldn't an airealbot's (only one out of the entire movie) sole purpose be to drop off optimus in battle then go fight offscreen. Also to whoever says they see blue and flame red on the jet, your just seeing either optimus, the flames around optimus, or both. He is spinning at very great speed rate, so it's a litle difficult to see everything in the frame, especially with everything going on.

ReplyDeleteif u download the trailer and watch it frame by frame u can clearly see the prime's flames on the jets. i downloaded it from appletrailers (1080p version) and used quicktime. trust me, u can clearly see the red & blue flames on the jet pack

ReplyDeleteokay taking a second look at high resolution frame-per-frame, i do see a little red on the jet, i don't however see any blue in any frame, and from what i could see the red was not in optimus's flame pattern, it very well could have been in a flame pattern, but it wasn't optimus's
and also why would the jet be the same color pattern as optimus anyways, even if it was just a jet pack, he has no need to look stylish in battle

I just went frame by frame and I honestly do see the blue paint/flames on parts that are not actually optimus's body, but on his "jetpack" thing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you pause it at 21 seconds, I noticed another decepticon laying on the ground after "Ratchet" shoots him down.
And if you pause at 22 seconds, you see Optimus landing ontop of Brawl.
I love the way everyone is complaining about 'recycling' bots... Look at the original G1 toys!! Or even your newer toylines for TF... how many repaints/recycles were there representing different TF's? Yet, for the films, everyone bitches? I suppose some people just have to find something to bitch about...

Also, I've been a fan of TF since the beginning (I was a kid during the G1 era)... Love my G1, and don't mind the bayhem either.
Is Laserbeak confirmed or just speculation based on the trailer? Could be a Bay-version of Sky Lynx (used to transform into a shuttle and the form vaguely resembles him). Swoop would be interesting. I think that the dinobots could work in Chicago since the largest T-Rex skeleton is on display at the museum of natural history in the immediate area where the fight takes place. Would be interesting to see a autobot crash through the building, scan the t-rex images-bones, and become Grimlock. Fanboy speculation... but fun.

3.Bringing in "Carli" is not Ruining continuity, it's how it should have always been. Megan CAN'T ACT. She is about 45% of what was wrong with the last two films.
4. If MB was to have every single Decepticon a different ALT mode, the Film would cost Trillions, Save money, use what you got. Most drones Look the same anyway. Heavy Units get to be Tanks and Construction Equip Smaller Units are Cars. Yes, Changing Colors would be nice, but remember that Rampage was Yellow till Release date?

If you look extremely closely at the tentacle thing, for a split second it looks like there were fins or something that looks reminisent to a missile head. But then again I could only see a split second of it, not sure.

Hopefully in this movie, Rosie will stay out of the way so the scenes can move along, unlike Megan Fox slowing Sam down. Besides, didn't you notice her holding Lennox's hand in ROTF? and the way she looked at him in slow-mo over Sam's body? Mikaela obviously would leave Sam so I would understand the part of the plot. SHE IS A SLUT and I'm glad she's gone. I totally agree with you James2170.
ReplyDeleteI was getting tired of seeing enourmous cleavage, mutated lips, and a bad tan with robots who just so happened to be at war in the background. Admitedly,Rosie's lips are distracting, but she couldn't be any worse than Megan Fox was. At least she has her parts covered.

I am interested to find out the reasoning behind Chicago being the Decepticons point of attack. As you can tell from the trailer, the attack takes places over a relatively lengthy period of time as there is footage at both night and day. I wonder what happens to cause it to be Chicago?
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone who thinks the Quintessons will play a major part in this story. All the ships with tentacles seem to give them away as part of it. As for the "squid" with fangs I think that might be "The Dweller" which predates the Transformers themselves. It was a creation of the Quintessons before they created other mechanical life. If it is the Dweller that is one real baddie...

No. The Tenticle on Shockwave is only one. And from what the Figure shows is that it's used to power his gun or something. also, Shockwave only has one. (and it may not be a big kicker, but those are silver, figure is black)
i mean why would robotic ships have tentacles? it is the quint for sure i would guess...they want to kill all transformers if you read the origi, etc
ReplyDeleteThe "dweller" is a very good call, I just read about it, you can see a transformer type ship above bumblebee opposed to the tentacled ships of the quint...so maybe the transformer ships etc take on the quint who sent the dweller down to the earth.

We know there is Silverbolt so at least Superion and all the Aerialbots must be in the movie otherwise Autobots got no chance to win and unfortunately it's unlikely that Bay would go with a tragic ending with Earth taken by Decepticons and 80% of the population either killed or enslaved and all Autobots destroyed.
Then what were all the tentacled ships? Dont forget the ship on the moon....that could turn out to be a big part of everything...like being rejuvinated with all the top autobots coming back at the end of the movie...I dont know...but tentacled ships is a clear giveaway....im not ognna change my mind...and that thing looks just like the "dweller" would look like...to me anyway

The bird is confirmed to be Laserbeak, the worm thing IS NOT Soundwave, in the final shot is Shockwave in the top left corner, a Brawl clone in the center, a Sideways clone gets sliced by Prime, and the final death is a Drone Decepticon.

All the haters need to take a deep breath and realize this was only a TEASER trailer. saying this movie's going to be a disappointment just because the last one was is stupid logic. Bay's already made it clear he's well aware the last movie failed on several levels, and by the looks of it he's trying his hardest to leave the memory of it in the dust (and debris).... so give him a break! If you can make a better movie, DO IT! Put away the keypad, get up off your lazy butt and go create something... then let other slackers mindlessly slash it on a blog someplace. Until then, SHUT UP!

Last anonymous, learn what a teaser trailer is before you comment on it. It aired during the Super Bowl for a reason, and it shows battle scenes for a reason. Would you like to see 30 seconds of some poetic dialogue, perhaps? Maybe some sunsets or birds chirping or a hot dog vendor making smalltalk with a customer? Duh, it's Transformers, and the story involves MASSIVE battles, so it makes sense to me that the teaser shows only that. In 30 seconds, there's not lots of time for anything else.

ReplyDeleteI'm not saying this next movie WILL be better, just that pre-judging it based on the last movie or a 30-second Super Bowl trailer is ridiculous. Having seen firsthand some of the CRAZY amount of work that's gone into making TF3, and now seeing a glimpse of what the final product will look like, I won't be surprised at all if this one's better. Really, my whole point is that if anyone out there can pick up a megaphone, direct hundreds of people in the busiest part of one of the world's largest cities for weeks on end, and end up with something even CLOSE to what Bay does, then they should quit ragging on his achievement and PROVE they can do better. I agree with you that Bay saying it's better doesn't automatically make it better... TF2 was a mess, but there were still some gems underneath all the crap. The scene of Devastator assembling itself, or the forest fight with Optimus vs. Megatron, are amazing accomplishments on their own. The Chicago battle scenes look incredible already, and we've only seen a few seconds of them.

I agreed with Pixel that it's ridiculous to judge a movie based on a 30 second trailer. Granted the second movie's trailer looked good also, but you can't make the same assumption that the movie will be bad. The only way to know if it is bad is to watch it when it comes out.

you can see some similarities. For instance that red thing on top that could be the rotor above his head, you can make out two engines and the arms are quite similar too, although difficult to see.

ReplyDeletescroll down to the interview where these two guys who spent time with MB watching clips @ 6:42 talk about a huge "hero moment" in this movie for one of the autobots, who really comes through, and does something great in a big big way...and they say they have been waiting for for this particular autobot to come through for a long time now etc...
Could this be Ironhide?? ( based on the above clip, it certainly could be) Lord knows we have been waiting for him to do more then just look good for 2 movies now...and if it is him...will it be an ultimate sacrifice or will he live another day?

ReplyDeleteI don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but the last two shots of the trailer...the one's of Optimus kicking butt on the street...it's the same camera move, past the same buildings and same sidestreet, twice. It's as if they did two of the same camera moves, and created two different animations of Optimus. Just to point it out.

You know, looking at it closer it looks like there are two camera rigs in the video, one on the truck and one on a dolly of some sorts.
ReplyDeleteIf you watch the trailer closely, pay attention to the red car, the trailer shifts back in time slightly at the 26 second mark with the rolling red car spinning again and a slightly wider angle on the shot. It probably the two cameras.
Those spinning arm things someone posted about is not shockwave but the drillbot!

She always got hot girls that male viewers would die for and female viewers would kill to look like them... BUT this Rosie.. geez.. what the heck was Michael Bay thinking? He really can't see that she just doesn't work in front of a camera? She is a topmodel all they want and she did commercials and fashion shows BUT being the female lead character in a movie like this replacing really hot Megan Fox sex symbol and even playing new Sam Witwicky girlfriend... WELL, it's something that she doesn't have the looks to achieve in the first place, and she can't even act a little bit... which makes her a real disgrace.

ReplyDeleteBut really, I'm getting sick of hearing about the actresses and how Rosie sucks, blah blah blah. From the looks of it, Sam won't even be with her for most of the movie. She's probably only introduced, split up, then Sam finds her at the end. Most likely not as much screen time as Mikaela, but that will be a good thing.
Hahaha, this is a completely awesome trailer, I could care less whether Megan or Rosie is whatever blah blah, giant robots fighting and transforming amidst destruction beats all. Ready to watch the first two, see it in 3D, see it in 2D, then have it on Blu-Ray. Then play Mass Effect 3 until the Avengers comes out.

movie looks AWESOME , But these DOTM toys are seriously lacking the imagination and the well thought out transformations we have seen in the past. With rotf prime it was almost movie accurate, these newest versions seem like knockoffs comparatively speaking..
