Transformers 4 Character Hints

Nelson, the admin for MichaelBay.com, has provided a few Transformers character tidbits. One of them suggests that the robot face photographed a few months ago might be Hound. He also wrote that after Chicago filming ends on Wednesday, next is filming in Washington state followed by China.
I like how Bumblebee looks like in robot form this time around. He looks badass and sleek.

The Stingray is one of my favorite looking robots.

So is the Bugatti. Wait til you see this guy in action. He will blow your mind!!

And Hound reminds me of the bearded chubby fellow in Braveheart. He might take the cake when it comes to personality.
Its not much to go on but better than nothing. Feel free to add what you think in the comments. (via TFW2005)

  2. I'm just glad it's not Grimlock, cause that rumor was floating around

  3. The head is more believable as Bulkhead. Shape put me in the mind of his TFP head. But it seems this will be hound, unless Nelson is "misinforming" us. That said.. I don't like it and really wish the artist would stop trashing the characters' designs this way.

  4. I think that face is the best human-like face that suits Hound. Could someone really think any better?

  5. Ironhide44:
Actually what if his head was a human look-a-like hologram? I mean over at tfwiki, it is said "Hound wishes he were human" it could be possible he made a custom type 'hologram' face to try and blend with the humans or more simply scans a picture and changes to that as his face? It is also said that Hound uses holograms as to disguise himself....... I mean anything is possible in Bayverse right?
Just putting my thoughts out there....

    1. Need I remind that Dino was originally meant to be Mirage and he was never made able to tuen invisible in the film itself. So I don't believe Hound either has his hologram abilities.

Try to blend in? With a human face? He's a big ass alien robot. I think this is the stupidest Transformers head I have ever seen.
To bad this santabot is in the movie.

Like anon 12:18 says, why are they trashing TF character's? A face, especially a human looking face, does not give it more personality. You give it personality with the things it does and how he talks.

I don't trust what Nelson says, he says Bee looks good in robot form this time around?? Heck, I like bee how he looks now, he already looks good, especially when and how his facemask flips forward. I'm getting worried he 's gonna look goofy.

Well since there are so many negative statements about Hound's look, I tried to be positive and it looks like it ain't working. I am not saying I like it, i am pretty much on the same boat as you people, I just wanted to hope it was only a disguise....

I agree with you Martinus Prime, I love the way Bee looked in DOTM and that will be forever my favourite upgrade of him. I have a gut feeling the "new" Bee is going to look crap. To be honest, I still don't even like the 2014 Cheverlot Camaro model..... especially the front and rear lights!

    4. Ironhide44:
Correction: I should have said, try to feel like a human, instead of "blend in with the humans"

I agree with you on the new taillights on the 2014 Camaro, but overall and especially the front lights with the small grill, I think the new Camaro looks way better, just awesome imho.

  7. Dudemus: I sincerely hope that isn't a smokers pipe in his mouth...with that, let me say this. When first caught sight of Leadfoots face on a clapboard during shooting of DOTM, is said to myself oh no!...WTF!...however once I seen his face in full finished cgi It looked pretty good. So I'm not going to go in too hard and negative at this first glance. I'm going to wait this one out.

I think it is railroadnail instead of a pipe.
Leadfoot's face and beard look much more robotic and looks nothing like this santabot. In fact, all the facial hear on all TF look robotic, not organic. This face and beard are much more organic, that doesn't fit metal vehicle like the Oshkosh, it even has a human nose and big round humanlike eyes.
This is just the wrong way to go.

  8. Dudemus: Sentinel's looked like a cross between both. Its bugs me at times though. I mean with the humanoid characteristics, like for instance. Megatron had teeth for one. Maybe Mike B is hinting on something or he just like the feel of his robotic features. You had wheeljack with the balding head and Einstein appeal with glasses and the glowing hairlike thingies as well. This latest photo shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone who has followed the last trilogy.

    1. Dudemus: or perhaps we are all just jumping the gun a little. (Just wishfull thinking)

  9. That's the problem. Its the problem that its not a surprise thats getting the majority of the fanbase. Bay knows this stuff ticks off your hardcore transfan. He also knows that the bulk of us (no pun intended) will fill the seats anyway because we just truly love our bots and cons. I hope the next director takes it to heart better with a more serious approach. Me being a fan of hound, back when I was a kid... I never imagined him with a beard. I show support financially to help keep the brand going. To do my part... However I still say this head sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hardcore Tff&:I just stumbled onto this blog. I love it...I'm a die hard fan and have been one since the beginning. I like that Bay has a different approach all of the many universes had signature approach. Who would have thought to see optpri as a gorilla?...I think most of you are giving his approach an unfair shake. You guys should be more open minded. I'm a collector as well and I have to say that the toy adaption of the film characters are the better of them all in my opinion, except of course the DOTM version although it had a few good one all the one that were not released here in the states...bye for now

    1. Your whole "I like them and its unfair that you all don't." Approach is wrong. Most of us have given Bay BEYOND a fair shake. He got rich off the majority of us that still fill the seats and thats why he keeps doing. He doesnt pay attention to the fan that says "Hey I like your movies but can we make the head look more like what the fans grew up loving." How is that not fair? I know for a fact guys like Martinus Prime have been here for years. So have I, just lurking as an Anon (which may change here soon). I agree with your whole statement about Guerrila Optimus, at the same time I disagree. The allure of Transformers is that they can take any shape as an alt more. And across all the different continuities no one has quite slaughtered SOME of the head sculpts quite like Bay and gang. That being said.. He did do somethings right. For everything he did right through, he did a few things wrong. Optimus Prime and Ironhide are completely badass in the movieverse by design. Look at what happened to ironhide. You read into whats being said wrong.

      Delete
    2. Hardcore Tff&: firstly, you read my statement wrong. Just like you have the right to your opinion, so do I. Now you on the otherhand are possibly one of the few who feels that Michael Bay should use a G1 style for the characters. Listen, that look is totally outdated. While I'm reading these comment on how he's so wrong with his idea of face sculpts, have you even concidered the fact that the G1 versions had human like faces, they weren't intricately detailed at all. Michael Bay is doing the samething only his versions are a more definded detail of robotic and humanoid with some of the characters. Those G1days are in the past, move on. Trust l wouldve liked to see some G1 vehicles in the first movie when it was released like many die hard fans, but then it wouldn't make much sense to put 1980 vehicles in a 2007 adaption. And he has heard complaints, why do you think he put the old flatnose truck/Optipri in this movie?...and what does it look like? Exactly what it is...Old.

      Delete
    3. I don't recall mentioning G1... They dont have to pull anything from G1 honestly. I'm a bigger fan of the comics of Dreamwave and IDW. You assume a bit too much from what I said. Im always interested in seeing others' take on transformer but some of the things Bay and gang have done take it too far. Go back read what I said again. I praised his designs for Prime and Ironhide... At this point I will even point out that I liked the Dreads, Sideswipe, Bee, Jazz, Jolt, and a few others from the bayverse. But when you start with guys like Jetfire, Q, Devastator, and the others that were just hardcore messed up... Thats a bit too far. Point blank... You bring up the flatnose truck... I actually dont even like that its there. G1 will always have a place in childhood memories but its not what I'm looking for in these movies. That said again.. You read it wrong and at this point... Drop it.

      Delete
    4. Dudemus:hardcore tff&, you made some good points about the upgrade, yes it wouldve been idiotic to use 1980 concepts in a 2007 version I agree. But I don't think that that was really the posed arguement from diehard fans. What it was? It was that he didn't use up to date models of the vehicle modes. Ex: Jazz couldve been a porshe, bumblebee couldve been a updated vw beetle etc. There were issues with makers of these cars however, getting to the point about mike b version of the head sculpt, again I agree. However there has to be a limit at times. He has a way of taking things too far and it gets under our skin. We watch these movies because we love the transformers as much as you do. We have given him his fair shake. And here's the proof...DOTM roughly about 1.3 billion in ticket sales.

      Delete
    5. Martinus Prime10/03/2013 10:57 AM

Yeah, it was never about G1. It's not even about the facial hear imo. It's about Bay taking the headsculpts completely too far.
I do have problems with Jetfire's cane, but I have no problems with Jetfire's beard, nice straight metal points and also Sentinels beard, they look mechanical and I like them, this face alltogether just looks to organic.
I have also no problems with the cars, I like the Pontiac Solstice for Jazz. You can't have a new VW New Beetle for Bee, that's not bad-ass. A boys first car should be muscle car.

  11. The only thing we are seeing is a cardboard cutout. They aren't completely accurate to how the character is going to look after the cgi is rendered. Reserving all judgement on the head till we actually see it in action.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Aside from the Twins and "Q"...Bays cons and bots overall look pretty badass. From their colors, to their size, I think overall they are really cool to watch. I really dont count Wheelie (which I personally liked) and Brains...they were not a huge part of the trilogy. I am crossing my fingers and hoping that Santabot (Hound) was just a prop laying around the Paramount storage room and he used it.

Was also thinking...what if it is Paramount telling Bay that he has to put in these types of characters to maybe draw in a different type of crowd? Could something like that be put into Bay's contract? Just a thought? Cant wait to see these Cons and Bots in full CGI...

    ReplyDelete
  13. If I was Bay, I would purposely put up some faces that would just piss everyone off and then when the movie comes out, be surprised that what we saw was wrong.

  16. Dudemus:I hope the full cast of the wreckers are in this movie and not just Leadfoot. Roadbuster was my favorite, his attitude was outrageous to the point Leadfoot asked "Optimus, can I kill him now?" I'd love to see that match of wit between tobse two again. And I'd also like see Topspin. His design was Nascar warrior God. He doesn't even have to speak he has that (action speak louder than words) look.

    2. Yeah, totally a "NASCAR warrior god"...white trash mullet, Oakley blades, he's like a trailer park throwback to 1987. The wreckers are like Jar Jar Binks triplets in the transformers universe. I can't believe people like the Wreckers and I really can't believe there are enough people that liked them to justify bring them back for AOE. I wish Bay would stop trying to give the bots human like features, they're not humans they're freakin ALIEN ROBOTS. Enough with the terrible accents as well, they're not Scottish, they're Cybertronian. I Know, it's easy to get the two confused...

      Delete
    3. The autobots learned to speak by watching videos on the world wide web. so they would have picked up accents if all they watched was Scottish videos, or if they watched Mexican or redneck videos.

      Delete
    4. Martinus Prime10/05/2013 10:24 AM

Yep, that's also how Jazz learned to speak like a gangsta rapper in the1st movie and I thought he sounded cool. That's also the way Jazz talked in the G1 cartoon.

      Delete
    5. Dudemus:exactly, and as far as human features go. They had somewhat human features in the G1 cartoon eyes nose and mouth. They just had flat faces and some had mustaches and beards. Either organic or not they humanlike features.

I hope Bay learns from this and changes it, but I don't think he will, remember Q? That polehead was also spotted on set several times and everybody complained about that too. That head wasn't changed in the movie. The release is still far away, many things can still change.

  20. I also had a thought. With all the different Transformers names being tossed around, I wonder if 'Slingshot' is in fact a cover name for Leadfoot, Wheeljack or Perceptor. From that video (if it's a real video), it sounds like the Bot is a scientist. I still believe the voice belongs to Leadfoot though.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Leadfoot was referred as Flash and Wheeljack "Que" as Steeljaw in Ben Procter's concept art, but of course filming might use different production names. Only name we know certainly as only production name is "Drift". Bugatti was said to have much better name than that.

      Delete
    2. I was talking about 'concept art in DOTM'.

    3. D**n these comment of mine. What I meant about production names in this film is that we don't know yet for sure if Crosshairs and Cyclonus are just production names, but Drift is. Sorry for so many comments, but I wanted to make it clear.

      Delete
    4. I get what your saying. 'Drift' is a working production name. We don't know if 'Crosshairs' and 'Cyclonus' are real names or working production names. My feeling is that all 3 are probably working production names. Think of all the other names that we've heard. The Corvette, Bugatti and Silver Big Rig have all had multiple rumored names.

      Delete
    5. But who you think will be real names of each vehicle we know is a Cybertronian? Just want to hear your opinion of this all.

  22. The red Pagani is sadly not Hot Rod, It's Bludgeon...
Not really familiar with that character, is he bad ass? Also, if the Pagani isn't Hot Rod, is this yet another film lacking most TF fans favorite bot?

    1. Martinus Prime10/07/2013 8:19 AM

Who says Hot Rod is most fans favorite bot? He for sure isn't one of my favorites, not even close and I always thought Rodimus is a pussy. I don't know how they are portrait in the comics, but I'm not fond of them.

For what i've read on tfwiki, Bludgeon is an awesome Decepticon who is skilled in an awesome martial art. So when Nelson says that the Bugatti has an awesome style of fighting, maybe they are matched equally.
And....... Bludgeon can generate electric fireballs!! So there's a chance that the fireballs that were shot on set last week, that that was Bludgeon.

      http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Bludgeon_%28G1%29

    2. Dudemus:I agree, Rodimus was trash. I stop watching the next gen cartoon with him as the leader of the Autobots. Couldnt stand him...if he is in this movie l sure hope he has balls, but I couldn't see him fighting and winning against these larger decepticon bad asses. It would be weak...unlike Optimus vs Megatron, Shockwave the Fallen and Sentinel.

      Delete
    3. Martinus Prime10/07/2013 10:32 AM

Yes, I also tought Ultra Magnus should have been the Autobot leader after Optimus. He is far more superior than Rodimus and gave Rodimus multiple times advice how to be a leader.

But now we have a brand new Optimus, Bay will never kill him in this new trilogy. I also think Hasbro doesn't want to kill Optimus again, after the ruckus it caused back in the 80's. Children crying and stuff, I think they will never let Optimus die for good again. Look at all the cartoons that came after G1 and Takara, always with some version of Optimus.

      Delete
    4. Dudemus:I made a ruckus about Optimus getting tailpipe handed to him by Megatron in first film. Then when does kick some ass in the second he gets killed. No more Optimus death and returns. Its tired. Did enough of that in the comic book adaption.

    5. If that theory of Pagani being Bludgeon came from those Kre-O toys we've seen earlier, I don't think they're related to AOE.

      Delete
    6. Dudemus: I also believe that's theoretical. I still think its Rodimus Prime. And like I stated before,...if it is l hope he has more balls than he did in the cartoon.

    7. Dudemus:the red pugani is not hotrod its bludgeon?...O.K...who told you that?...prove it.

    8. Dear Anonymous, We don't know WHO the Pagani is because his name is being kept under wraps. We only have confirmation of 3 genuine Transformers names: Optimus, Bee and Hound. That's all, that's it. All the other names are either rumored or working production names. You also can't go by what Wiki and IMDB say because all their info is FAN driven and not authenticated information. We won't know the rest of the genuine Transformers names until Bay releases them through press releases or in the movie previews.

  24. "a disgraced “samurai” Decepticon (who seeks to regain his honor by helping the Autobots) will both be added to the robot roster."-Bludgeon

The red Kreo toy with a skull face and samurai swords was clearly Bludgeon. And don't tell me the Kreo toys that match all of the color schemes from the movie with a Age Of Extinction label aren't related to the movie. This wouldn't be the first time characters were revealed through toy leaks. It's Bludgeon, get pissed, I'm unreliable, bla bla, it's still Bludgeon.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Again, we only have official confirmation of three Bots: Optimus, Bee and Hound. Just because Kreo released characters with similar color schemes, does not mean they're actual characters in the movie. There have been plenty of Transformers toys released of Bots that were not in any of the movies, but still bore the movie's name ( Seaspray comes to mind). Some of those Bots even had similar coloring to the Bots that really were in the movies. I've run into this time and again, while looking for Transformers to add to my new collection.Nobody is doubting that the Kreo toy you came across is Bludgeon, we're just doubting that he's an actual character in the movie itself, that's all.
