Transformers 4 (Almost) Completes Principle Photography (Updated)

Update: It looks like a little jumping of the gun on my part as a tweet from Michael Bay indicates there is still a week to go.

Thanks #hongkong Now on to #China #Transformers4 #tf4 #transformers #michaelbay
Chances are the main cast, or at least Nicola, has wrapped but the crew still has various locations to visit to complete the look that much of the film takes place in various locations in China.
---------------------------------
A tweet by Transformers: Age of Extinction's Nicola Peltz indicates that after five months of filming, principle photography on the movie is finished.
That's a wrap on Transformers 4! An amazing journey!!! #transformers4 http://instagram.com/p/f_iFW6NVis/

  1. Dudemus: editing is the most time consuming part in film making and very expensive...but again the upgrades in technology has vastly improved since the last 3Tfmovies, to were it doesn't take as long to complete post-production anymore. And with the voice-overs as we have seen/heard has seemingly been completed before live cast filming. I don't believe its going to take six months at all in post production. I'd say about March it'll be done including fine tuning. MikeB has also used this new camera tech on this film as well and he will be the first to use it. So I really can not wait to see the finished product.

Technology may have improved since the last trilogy, but for these kinds of movies, the post production stage is absolutley critical. Therefore it is going actually use up the 6 months and even that is still not enough in my opinion.

    2. If they follow the process established on the first 3 movies then editing began as soon as they started filming; Bay reviews dailies at the end of each day and turns them over to the editors who begin stitching scenes together right away. This movie will likley have well over 1,000 VFX shots, many of them very comlicated and they will be rendered in 3D and IMAX 3D so it's important to get the plates to the VFX studios as quickly as possible. While the tech continues to improve it's still a time consuming process. Given the past history I'd be suprised if they completed post production before the begining of May.
If I remember correctly the leaked McCormick Place (Chicago) call sheet was for day 57 of 90. I believe ROTF aand DOTM had about the same number of shooting days. Hard to imagine this movie being produced for $165 million.

    3. Dudemus:exactly...the only reason ROTF took as long as IT did was because of the writers strike. I know editing is critical but it doesn't take as long as usual. Because of what you just stated RAY@ on top of that the technological advancements has improved so much that it doesn't take long to film and release a movie. Look how fast these highly cgi movies are coming out. The production time has lessend dramatically...

    4. The better the vfx technology gets, the more effecient vfx houses get the more work studios want. VFX houses are investing less man-hours per shot than they were when Transformers came out in 2007 but they're also being expected to generate more shots on the dollar. That's a big reason 2 Oscar winning vfx houses (Digital Domain and Double Negative) have had to file bankruptcy recently.
For big budget ($150 mil), vfx heavy (500 shots or more) Hollywood movies the time frame from the project being greenlit to the film being wrapped is generally between 16 months and 27 months...that's 6-12 months for pre-production (writing, pre-viz, design, set construction), 4-6 months of production (filming) and 6-9 months of post-production (editing, scoring, sound design and vfx). I stand by my expectation of this movie being finished no earlier than the begining of May, that's a bit over 6 months after filming wrapped.

    5. When I said film being wrapped I meant the film being finished and ready to be released.

    7. i think Bay and Co. already know what the film is going to look like. i think they know what scenes will/won't be in the film. they usually film extra just to see if they can add a little bit extra. see if it could still be used.

Now we talk about estimating the time for official concept arts to come out.
How long do you think we will get our first one? @Dudemus

    2. Dudemus: I think some time after the first trailer comes out. Reason for that statement is I don't believe that what we are seeing are the final designs for Optimus, Bumblebee and Grimlock giving the fact that they have been made public. To me l think its a teaser to get our initial response to the designs as of right now. I don't think its too far a statement to say that its possible the MikeB or someone else view these type of blogs. They want to know what we think so they came come out and say "see shut up, we know what we're doing"...and surprise us all. I'm going as far as to say that this Optimus prime action figure was also a tease. They have had so much negative responses on the DOtm product that it cost them a lot of money with the poor sales. Movie did great though. So again I think we'll see the official concept art after the first trailer is released. Its already know that the major majority of fans dislike the new Optimus Prime figure. So they're not releasing under the movie title...why not?...I think they have something else up their sleeve.

  4. Dudemus: we've been getting a lot of misinformation about this film for a reason. Now quite is suppose to be kept, however everything is in plain sight, at least that's what they want us to believe. We haven't seen nothing but what they want us to see. So keep your wallet opened this movie is going to take us for a ride that we are going to be happy to pay for.

  7. Ok why does the girl have on an outfit like Carly from the last movie. That's one if the minor thing that irked me. They are in the middle of a war and this chick has on heels and a white top that won't have a spot on it in the film. O yeah and the hair will stay perfect too throughout the whole movie even with explosions going off behind her. Just stupid and unrealistic even for a sci fi movie.

We'll just have to except that in a Michael Bay movie and I'm okay with that.
But I like Sophia Miles much more than Nicola Peltz, she's much more curvy Oh and more my age, that helps too. ;-)

Transformers 4 Chongqing Wulong Filming Spoilers!!!!
      Updated 37 minutes ago
According to Michael Bay the Wulong scene is the "heroic critical turning point".
After the “fall of Hong Kong” in a pit crated by a crashed alien spaceship a few Transformers will assemble with others, they will fight a tough battle to escape from the pit and to rescue Hong Kong.

  10. We've not seen Optimus's truck mode in Hong Kong. Hope we see it in China?

    1. since optimus is going to leave the autobots maybe they think its no longer necessary to bring the truck.

  11. You didnt read the previews post about The voice of Optimus he was talking to mark wahlberg and said that he is going to leave the autobots I dont think hongkong is the ending part cause we are not going to see nicola pelts also in china and maybe Jack rayner too. Wer not going to see Optimus in China because there was no evidence that they brought the truck in cargo with the rest of the cars to hongkong.

If Nicola and Jack aren't gonna be in China for filming, those scenes probably will be somewhere in the beginning or in the middle of the film.
It probably has to do something with the (other) Chinese actors, like that popular singer.
I don't think Bay will leave the ending without the main cast, just like all previous movies.

    2. I dont think the china scene will be the middle or beginning of the film remember what mark said in his interview that he will intrust his daughter to Jack rayner to keep her safe also China is the archeological site for the dinobots I think the final battle will be in china with the dinobots that is why if you noticed nicola and jack are always present on all locations except china. I think the very main human cast hir is just mark, nicola and jack are just supporting actors for marks character.

    3. I think the beginning of the film is either chicago or texas coz we saw bee scanning the new concept camaro in chicago. If bee is not a classic camaro in china that means china is not the beginning.

      Delete
    4. But if china will be the begining of the film I think it will be the past and not the present china Im expecting Bay will show us the history of the dinobots like why they end up in china and why the main cast nid to go there.

      Delete
  12. China will most likely be for the dinobots. Probably for the intro of the movie, introduction for the dinobots.

    1. If bumblebee is in his classic camaro alt mode in china it means china is the begining of the film but we saw bumblebee scanning his latest alt mode the 2014 concept camaro in chicago so I think either texas and chicago is the intro of the film plus I dont expect dinobots will appear that early on the film coz they are the main plot unless Bay wants to show whats in china why they nid to go to china like what he did in DOTM that he showed whats on the moon and inside the ship which is sentinel prime.

      Delete
    2. for some reason I think you are right I think Bay will show us what happend in the past in china the history of the dinobots why they end up there then time jump to present either chicago or texas his work is always desame and predictable like in ROTF and DOTM.

      Delete
    3. Yup, the reason i thought it would be the intro scene is because apparently china is only going to be in it for a couple of minutes in the movie.

      Delete
    4. And because none of the main cast are there also.

      Delete
    5. According to Bays interview he already said that it will start in US and end in China. I think in hongkong is wer Mark will entrust his Daughter to Jack rayner to keep her safe based on my observation on the picture of nicola above huging Mark like they wer both saying goodbyes coz the China scene will be the most dangerous part of the film thats why mark dsnt want nicola to get involved.

    6. Well who knows, we will only know until the movie comes out i guess
