New Transformers Cartoon Series Officially Announced for 2015 (Updated)

The Hub has officially announced a new Transformers cartoon series premiering in 2015 that is set in the Transformers Prime universe that is focused on Bumblebee and his team of Autobots. Returning as the voice of Bumblebee is Will Friedle who first voiced 'Bee for the Transformers Prime series finale. No premiere date, name of other characters, setting or another other details have been provided. Other voice actors are mentioned but none from previous TF cartoons. The rumor has been a new series would be geared towards the pre-teen set (rather then TF Prime's more or less all-ages approach) but the press release (below) doesn't confirm that either even though the image of Bumblebee might. Thanks to Wynton R. for the link.

Press release:

The Hub Network, champions of family fun and the only network dedicated to providing kids and their families entertainment they can watch together, announced today that a new animated series is currently in production for the globally renowned TRANSFORMERS brand. Set to debut in early 2015, the new action-packed series is being produced by Hasbro Studios, the production and distribution division of Hasbro, Inc., and is executive produced by Jeff Kline (“Transformers Prime,” “G.I. Joe Renegades”).

Taking place years after the battle between Autobots and Decepticons in “Transformers Prime,” this all new series centers around our hero Bumblebee stepping up to lead a brand new team of Autobots. The show features an all-star cast with Will Friedle (“Boy Meets World”) returning as Bumblebee, along with Darren Criss (“Glee”), Constance Zimmer (“House of Cards”) and Ted McGinley (“Married with Children”). Blending 3D characters with hand-painted environments, the series mixes action-packed adventure with lots of comedy, making it a rip-roaring experience for kids and families to enjoy together.

This is a big year as the TRANSFORMERS brand celebrates its 30th anniversary. The Hub Network will also be celebrating the success of the franchise with special events to be announced later this year.
Update: One of the storyboard artists, Matthew Humpreys provided a comment to TFW2005 about the 'Bee art:
"I can’t say much because you know the reasons. But I just feel the need to say that with our new show being announced the artwork shown on various sites is NOT a good representation of what the designs look like fully fleshed out. The new show looks amazing and I’m having a ton of fun working on it and I hope everyone watches when it comes out."

  2. I'm glad to hear that it's going to take place in the Transformers Prime universe. Absolutely loved that show. Hopefully it'll have the same vibe as TFP did, instead of the TF Animated kiddier approach. Can't wait!

    1. But what do you think will happen? In Predacons Rising Optimus had to sacrifice himself to return the Allspark to Cybertron's core and Megatron's hunger for conquest is gone. But wait, in book called The Covenant of Primus Optimus is said to be reincarnation (by having his spark in new body) of one of the Thirteen, but didn't remember anything about his past life until he received the Matrix. Maybe his reincarnation will appear in this series too.

  4. More bad cheap Transformers cartoons... The Generation-1 was a Transformers Anime and it was qualtiy. It's a shame that nowadays more expensive productions can't even achieve and deliver that same level of quality with a lot more money and everything allowed by computers that weren't available at the time...

    2. Tfcollect:have to agree with James on this one. SUNBOW who did the animation on both Transformers and G.I.Joe, had lost gotten their contract tossed because of the poor animation. This is documented fact, you can look it up yourself. As time moved forward the animation had gotten worse until Hasbro decided to not renew the contract with Sunbow. G1 animation nice at first as the same with GIjoe, but it does turn to shit. Compare the GIjoe movies to the cartoons you'll see a huge difference between the later animation from the earlier ones. The earlier animation weren't too far from the cartoon movies of both Transformers/GIjoe....simply put. Hasbro canned Sunbow.

    3. Poor animation on Transformers G1 .. WHAT ??
All the latest Transformers animated and CGI cartoons series should have got everyone involved fired and quit the business forever then.. because these ones have all been simply awful to say the least!
Few animation studios do the work properly anymore .. the Transformers Generation1 is still a masterpiece compared to "modern" animations of the Transformers franchise...

    4. I am in my late thirties and have been a TF fan all my life. I even have the original cartoons on DVD, replacing the recordings I made on VHS of the G1 series on Saturday Morning TV. If you bother to go back and look at it properly you will see the poor production values. Animation frames constantly being reused, repeat backgrounds, colours missing or placed incorrectly, even the features of faces changing in a single episode. The stories were far fetched and repetitive on multiple occasions and it was nothing more than a weekly advert for what was proving to be the greatest toy line ever conceived.

Let's not beat about the bush here. Take off the rose tinted glasses of childhood memory and lets not insult the hard work and dedication of the artists today by pretending that the first cartoon was anything more than an awesome advert.

That said, I lapped it up and was encouraged to delve into the comic books, where I suspect most fans of my age get most of their enjoyment and lore from that period anyway.

    1. Because Transformers is in no way an anime and in no way started out as an anime for many years. No way. Totally. Totally american.

    2. Transfromers has always been a US/Japan co-production franchise.
You clearly have no clue what you are talking about.

  11. Bumblebee leading a team? Why? Why not Smokescreen instead, if they're going with the "Prime" universe.

  16. the best of the TF animated cartoons was easily TF G1 series, next is easily Prime. all the rest sucked. Beast Ward was a joke, Tf Anime, don't get me started, TF rescue bots, shoot me. energon/armada, die already. G1 and Prime are the best. I'm truly hoping that this one can be just as if not better than Prime. it won't be G1 but let's hope that this one ranks right up there.

  17. Hasbro did a great job with Transformers Prime. Transformers animated was badly done as was all the previous ones except the original. When my kid watches a stupuid cartoon... eventually it gets on my nerves and I change the channel. With transformers prime at least I can watch it. Hasbro doesn't realize that not everyone has three TV's. So they lose some potential buyers of their product especially for Christmas.

  20. Ugh... Why is it that with every new design Bumblebee looks less and less like Bumblebee and more like Hot Rod... And now he's leading the team??? Seriously??? He's basically a Gold Rodimus prime. That concept failed in 80s and it will fail again. I love the transformers but I'm sick of it turning into Bumblebee and friends. Optimus will be back to save the franchise when this cartoon tanks.

  22. No matter our own personal opinions, fact of the matter is, Bumblebee is incredibly popular with the younger and newer fans. Hasbro and the HUB are going to ride the immense wave of his popularity and cash in on it. Personally, Bumblebee is amoungst my favorites, but isn't my absolute favorite ( Sideswipe is my personal absolute favorite). Concerning Bee in TransPrime, as much as I like Bee, I do think Smokescreen should've eventually been the one to take up the leadership role. Obviously neither he nor Bee can ever be a Prime, since the Matrix was fused with Optimus' spark and it merged with Primus when Optimus did. Like Bee, Smokey was still young and learning. I think having him mentored by Magnus to transition into being a leader would have been interesting. They then could have had Bee learning to transition into being the eventual second in charge.
