Director Chosen for Transformers 7

The long drought of movie news has finally ended, if only briefly. Deadline is reporting that director Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) has been hired by Paramount Pictures and Hasbro Studios to direct the next Transformers movie. Current plans are to have the film bsed on a script by Joby Harold but no details on that story were provided. For now I will refer to it as Transformers 7 (Bumblebee being TF6) as a reference point, not as indication its a continuation of Bay's films or the Bumblebee story periods.

No indications on budget, character focus or anything else but I suspect that Paramount/Hasbro will stick with the Bumblebee model of a smaller scale story with a smaller scale budget in the $100 million or less range. This will allow them the flexibility to choose the traditional theater release route if that is feasible in 2022 (give or take) or have it premiere on Paramount+ (the rebranding of CBS All Access) if theaters are not an option.
