Peter Cullen To Receive Lifetime Achievement Emmy

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), the organization that controls the Emmy Awards, has announced that Peter Cullen "will be the Lifetime Achievement Honoree at the 2nd Annual Children’s & Family Emmy® Awards." The award will be given to him during the gala celebration being held on Sunday, December 17. Cullen's career is chock full of voicing characters that generations have now grew up on. He is most famous for voice Optimus Prime in the Transformers cartoons and live action films.

Adam Sharp, President and CEO, NATAS, said: “We are thrilled to recognize Peter Cullen, who has voiced so many iconic characters over a lifetime of true achievement. His remarkable career in many genres of television and film make him an exemplary honoree.”

Peter Cullen said: “Are you sure they have the right Cullen? I spell it C-u-l-l-E-n. Seriously though, I am humbled to be recognized by the Academy with this great honor.”

If your hoping to watch Peter Cullen receive his reward, that seems unlikely. The Children's and Family Emmy Awards is offshoot of the Daytime Emmy's which itself was an offshoot of the main prime time Emmy Awards. I am not able to find any indication that these Emmy Awards will be televised. The Daytime Emmy Awards will air on Friday, December 15 so before he receives his honor while the main Emmy Awards on are Monday, Jan 15, 2024. Possible may get a mention during the main ceremony but don't count on it.
