TFW2005.com has somehow managed to come up with an image of what the Autobot Rachet will look like in robot mode. The image could be fake but it doesn't seem likely considering how it matches closely with the other leaked Transformer images in the detail and design. I still have reservations about the faces but the over all design does look good to me. I am curious to see how or even if Hasbro can translate these detailed designs into a viable toy. Sadly TFW2005 has yet to learn how to do a proper watermark. Thanks Julio M for the link.

That's pretty sick!
ReplyDeleteSick, indeed. I'm barfing right into my hands. What a mess of unecessary detail. I get that it's live action, so they have to step it up -- but seriously -- yuck, dudes. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you in regards to the faces, and I also have to say I think the legible "fire" logo at the kneecaps is a bit of an annoyance, but personally I like it. Now we just gotta see Ironhide and maybe some better pics of the 'Cons.
ReplyDeletekeep in mind kids, this is only a concept sketch. reserve final judgement for the movie.

The Face and body look like really bad, i think this movie will be shown in Late summer 07 and release on DVD early Fall 07. I think it will do as well as Superman Returns did, it was great idea to change everything that was cool about the Transformers. I dont think i'll be going to the movies to watch this trainwreck. Thank You Don Murphy for listening to the Fans.

Man, hard to believe some people are still complaining and whining about the new look on these guys. I think this movie is gonna rock and definatly last in the theaters longer than fall 07! Besides like others have said before me, in reality i don't think the 80's look on the Transformers would look that great these days in a live action movie, it'd look too much like those robots that the power rangers called upon, but that's just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI understand it's just a concept drawing -- but it feels like the direction they're going with on most of these things. Out of all of these, Bumblebee is the only one that looks half way decent, but still... the big problem with all of these robot modes is that they break the car into WAY too many little parts. If the vehicle mode has the ability subdivide its surface area to such an exponential degree, why not just go a tad further and have them turn into perfect humanoid robots? Like irobot of something. I get it that the producers of this film are trying to make these robots edgy and crazy cool looking -- and the animation and effects are going to rock, no doubt -- they're entitled to their vision and interpretation -- It's just I believe the thing they missed is the pleasure that transformer fans (young and old) get from recognizing visual elements of the vehicles in the robot modes. They just got too carried away. It's easy with CG because you can do anything. That said, I will definitely see the movie (with my 4 year old son) and I'm hoping to be proved wrong when I see these guys in motion... Here's hoping.... BTW, I would NEVER see a Power Rangers movie.
ReplyDeleteI think that the designs for the Transformers are different, but cool. I don't know what to think about how the movie will turn out, but I am going to go see it when comes out in theaters. I wouldn't rely on the image too much though, changes could be made to fit a certain part in the movie.
ReplyDeleteHis face looks very familiar like I've seen it before. It's bird like. Reminds me of a Jim Henson creation or a muppet in a movie somewhere. Maybe Never Ending story? Were there crazy looking white birds who talked in that pic. If so Ratchet's face in this "concept" drawing looks like those birds, if my memory serves me correctly.....maybe it was the sequel to the Never Ending Story?...that story just never seems to end.
ReplyDeletemore cool concept art :
