DOTM Trailer Breaks Apple Trailers Record

A press release from Paramount has announced that the Transformers: Dark of the Moon trailer was downloaded 6 million times from Apple Trailers in the first 24 hours of release. It is now the most popular trailer in the site's history. It seems that the plan of few trailers and hiding the movie plot and details back is paying off. Full press release below. HOLLYWOOD, Calif., May 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The new trailer for Michael Bay's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" has been downloaded more than 6 million times in its first 24 hours on iTunes Movie Trailers (http://www.apple.com/trailers), becoming the most-viewed trailer in the site's history.

The trailer, which recently debuted exclusively on iTunes Movie Trailers, gives fans a visually stunning sneak peak at this summer's highly anticipated "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." When a mysterious event from Earth's past erupts into the present day it threatens to bring a war to earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us. The third installment of the hit franchise, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" stars Shia LaBeouf, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, Kevin Dunn, with John Malkovich and Frances McDormand.

"Transformers represents big summer fun at the movies and iTunes Movie Trailers was the ideal place to debut the latest installment to a global entertainment audience," says Amy Powell, Paramount Pictures' Executive Vice President Interactive Marketing & Film Production.

  3. PlayStation Network is still better than Xbox Live

  4. That is amazing. Especially considering all the huge movies to come out in the last few years.

  5. The announcement piece generated a nice buzz by suggesting a different kind of story than the 1st two movies...the super bowl ad was total eye-candy on huge scale...the trailer showed that DOTM may be the most compelling transformer movie so far.

The fact that scribes from Collider, AICN, MTV, Entertainment Weekly, SlashFilm and Latino Review among others have seen chunks of the film and liked what they saw didn't hurt either.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely being picked as CinemaCon's star of tomorrow and #1 on Maxim's hot 100 list, the addition of popular tv/mv star Patrick Dempsey as well the addition of respected actors like John Malkovich & Francis Mcdormand have helped to create a great buzz.

  7. Victory...Was...So...Close...But...They(The Golden Compass, Avatar)...Stole It From Us.
Who's gonna steal it now? Harry Potter and the deathly hallows 2? I can't beleive that Transformers didn't get an Oscar, Instead The Golden Compass stole it from ous! What's so good about that movie anyways! Talking animals, we have seen it before. Avatar stole another Oscar from ous! What's so good about that movie anyways! A 2 hour long movie about love, that's what Avatar is!

Transformers Dark Of The Moon better get an Oscar or else Im going slaughter the Oscar jury! If you ever hear on the news about a boy who made slaughter at the Oscars you will all know it was me.

  8. Bay and Paramount are trying really hard to brainwash people minds this time thru some Avatar-like marketing. Worse the product biggest the marketing, just like with Avatar.

  9. you call this marketing!!!,this has to be tightest run ship i've ever seen out of bay, except for the leaked spoilers which kinda sucked, but other than that not much has came out,and no matter what happens this movie is going to do very well at the box office dispite the troll infection.
