TFormers.com has posted up a pretty sweet close up shot of Optimus Prime's head that shows the detail that is going into the design of the characters. Click the picture to get the full size version.
Also in agreement here! This really should help shut up any people who still complain about this movie and its lack of faithfulness to the originals. You really could not get any closer to Optimus' original head design!
I have to say, I wish his eyes were lit up in this pic though! I can't wait to see these guys animated and in motion!
(side note: I just put up the 12" 20th Anniversary Movie Optimus Prime toy in my cube at work today. Now I get this kickass image to end my day. Sweet!)
Looking at it as just a pic I'm not sure how i feel about it. I dont hate it but I dont love it as well (Megatron however looks BAD ASS) I need to see it in a scene or moving. I need to see what it looks like in action before I can really get on board.
I suppose it looks like a beak but I rather think that it is just their attempt at modernising Prime's face for the movie. If you think about it the G1 face did actually lack detail. For a CGI undertaking such as this you'd want as much detail as you can cram into it or it'll just look silly. His head is also thinner isn't it?

The shots I've seen of the transformers faces all seem to resemble a bird. Especially the Autobots. Don't believe me look at Ratchet's face. BIRD!
