Optimus Speaks TV Trailer Revisited

Update 2: Video removed again, but try this. It may be slow or choppy but best I could come up with.

Update: The video has been pulled once again but now IGN has stepped in, click here or scroll down. GIF from TWF2005.

Thanks to TFW2005 and Veoh, you can now see the leaked version of the Optimus Speaks TV Trailer for the movie. I posted it earlier about the YouTube pull and so forth. Further proof that once its out, its out, the studios should just embrace it and help it as its free advertising all around which only helps the money cause that is movie making.

The trailer looks sweat overall. The transformations are smooth and detailed. The action looks like it will be great. Like many the prime lips, assuming that is final design, is going to take some getting used to. My favorite part is where it looks like Barricade Bonecrusher is about to tackle Optimus.

If the above stops working try here. I attempted to figure out how to embed on the site as backup, but for life of me couldn't figure out the path to the flash file of the trailer so could point into a player. For the programming geeks, the closest I got was this, but its slow as heck so not recommended. The modified swfobject.js used by the site just stumped me.

  1. The Decepticon attacking Optimus is Bonecrusher, the backhoe. In the cartoons, he was a bulldozer. The cartoon backhoe Constructicon was Scavenger.

    Jesus christ, I'm a geek...

  2. Movie Bonecrusher is not a backhoe, he is a mine-clearing vehicle.

  6. Billing is similar to "credit"
It's the slide that lists the names of those who made the movie. (Michael Bay film, Spielberg production, yada yada)

  7. after repeating the part where optimus speaks over and over and over and over and.. etc.. again... i gotta say, i'm already used to his mouth

  9. getting used to the over human-like structures of the faces of the bots will take some getting used to though. I mean, some of them had mouths that moved in the cartoons, but others didn't, so I guess I don't know what i"m complaining about. i guess it's just so well done that it's weird to see.

  10. The voice is a tad more aged, but it's still Prime. Thanks for the post man, as always this blog is my first stop for TF info.

In the G1 comics, they had cheekbones, nostrils, teeth, face wrinkles, and double-chins. Human features on the Transformers is nothing new.

  12. Yes, but they looked more like human skin instead of metal like these are.

Thing I can't say I like or not are the eyes... for the most part, their 'eyelids' are just pieces of metal that don't even cover up part of the eye, so you see above and below it... one of those things that will need to be seen in action, I guess.

  13. That's just awesome!

  14. I'm gonna nay-say the lips completely. I thought the face shield was what helped make the iconic look of OP so classic. I just hope he has the shield on more than not.

As to the voice I can understand the difference. That voice is 23 years older. I can forgive that to retain the originality.

The buzz of this movie is really picking up. I'm hearing non-TFers talk about it in passing now. My hopes are rising.

  15. If they wanted to make G1 transformers they should have just sticked with the original design. And I don't mean squere bodies, I mean like these little things he puts now and then. First flames and now fish mouth? It will get me a little to get used to it but Bay puted them cuz there will be more one on one talking and he probably wanted to show a exprassion on Optimus's face like this. I'm sure that Michael will make that Prime has his face plate most of the time. I wonder what else will be new on Bayformers...;)

  16. I'm not complaining. I never thought they would make this a live action movie. Whining about look and feel is pointless. OP is about prescence. Peter Cullen is voicing and I can't wait for this movie! I don't even care that venom is in spiderman 3. and hugo weaving voicing megatron! "Mr. Prime!"

  17. Guys...this is BASED on G1...that doesn't mean that it IS G1...At least Prime is the Red and Blue while Megatron is all Grey.

  19. This could be a good movie, and I might see it, but Bay is no Peter Jackson.

This movie is so hard to get wrong. But in many ways it is, from my perspective. While is uses the name of an old show and a few trappings here and there is has little to do with it.

Imagine making a movie called Hamlet, but changing the characters and the story. Then selling out a little so that during the movie the only products seen would be from Pepsi.

That sure doesn't mean it's a bad movie. It only means it's an unfaithful version of Hamlet.

This is a CGI film where anything can be done, and the only limit is imagination ... and judgment.

Were I to make this film it would have included many of the original characters, and kept the story. It would never be a simple retelling. The Transformers would still be mechanical robots, not the scary morphing things in this movie. I would have never sell out to a single failing car company.

But, then again if I had the skills to make movies I would try my damnedest to be a Peter Jackson type and the Mike Bay type. Bay does make some nice films. I enjoyed Bad Boys, and not so much The Island. Had I seen the Island in the theater I can't say I wouldn't have asked for my money back.

Well, in any case, please see the movie to, at least, support the idea of the Transformers. Plus we all like large explosions, and that's what the big screen is good for. And if you don't have time, don't worry I'm sure it will make it's way to DVD in record time.

  20. Those lips are distracting! Optimus Prime's image is compromised. He now is taking on the characteristics of one of those very large freshwater fishes! I hope they keep the mask on. It's more masculine and adds to his presence.
