The name of the Chevy Beat has finally been revealed as Skids! The G1 Transformers was a blue van back in the day and was mostly used in the Marvel Comics line. I don't think the character even recieved a line in the cartoon series. The name was revealed via Jalopnik when Matthew provided them with pictures of the Skids, Bumblebee and the Chevy Trax from the Boneyard at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona. Sadly it appears the Trax doesn't have its license plate installed so its name remains a mystery.
Update: Thanks to Rodsuper for letting me know that it turns out that Skids did show up in two episodes of the '80s cartoon series. He had lines in Triple Takeover and Quest for Survival. So there is the connection some where looking for besides Marvel comics appearances.

ReplyDeleteThere is a license plate installed on the Trax. If you look close enough at it you can see black writing. Can't make out what it says though but it's there.

Skids may be little know, because he was only in two episodes of G1, and even than, he got only one line to say ;P Comic book didn't treat him better, he was in few issues, but later he was just forgoten...

ReplyDeletethey wont be that small....due to mass displacement they can actually be about bumblebee's size each one of them. or just about 17 feet.
Although decepticons normal height is about 26 to 30 feet...oh who am i kidin the autobots are overpowered...maybe the GOverment/sector 7 can help them.
P.s. if look closely on a few of the pics u could see Mikaela out and inside Bumblebee

ReplyDeleteIn the red car picture called TraxBeatBoneyard2, if you zoom in on the plate you can see a pixel of red bleed up and one to the right. Leads me to believe it was blurred on purpose.

( we have been talking about Skids and stuff in this forum way to much. whos to say they are messing with us? Not trying to shoot anyone down or the fact that it is Skids. But you never know. I tell you what. If I were Bay and Pushing the Disinformation campain like he says. I would have told you the Cars were, Cliffjumper and Skids , then When the movie comes out You find out they are Brawn and Windcharger. You never know. But I will say this. I hope we are wrong. Never heard of Skids huh? Well here he is (lower left where Autobot cars are) in the 1985 (second) catalog for G1. He's been there all along (at least in toy form). The cartoon doesn't mean cr@p. Blackout and Barricade are even lesser known TF's than Skids (AND they were micromasters). But you probably LOVE both of them huh (in the 2007 movie)? Bad choice for Skids? I think NOT !

The little red car cannot be Cliffjumper, because he got killed by Thundercracker in either the 2nd or 3rd Reign of Starscream issue. Therefore, my bet is on it being Windcharger. :)

ReplyDeletePoint, but. Reign of Starscream was made, when nobody in IDW even saw movie script. And it would be hard for me to belive, that Bay would care about what was said in this comic book. But. "Destiny" mini series, should be more acurate with the movie plot.

Its funny how if you read the wiki on skids, you kind of get a few interesting tidbits about the character, also some interesting comparisons to other bots and teh situations that seem to be coming together or looks like they are.

If that's the case then Prime Ironhide, Ratchet and the rest shouldn't have been in the 2007 movie cause they got killed in the first TF movie (1986). This movie is NOT based on the comic book. It is Bay's and the writers' incarnation based on G1 characters whether they died in the past or not. Geeze...................

But..how does that fit in with the supposed "confirmation" of Sideswipe and Wheeljack? The latter was suggested to be the alt-mode of the Saab, yet I haven't seen any pictures of this car on set anywhere. :-S What is everyone else's opinion on this?

I just find it interesting that in one of the wiki sites for tracks or skids, it mentions wheeljack and something about he organizes these autobots under bumbleebee to show them earth. I wonder if the volt is either smokescrean or bluestreak....definately suits the cars character. Think they would add humour just from reading about them, aswell as they are jealous of the otehr autobots due to the size and shape of the cars they have as alts, however they pack a mean arsenal of weaponry.

Skyfire - Jetfire...i hope hes in the movie, if he is the the blakbird then he is going to be freekin huge...the blackbird is 104 feet long, 54 feet wide and 18 feet tal....due to mass displacemente i would bet he would stand about 50 to 60 feet tall.

Thanks. I actually thought you were referring to a comic that was "NOT" movie related. That's what confused me. If the word "Prequel" was mentioned in there somewhere I wouldn't have commented like I did. Plus the mention of CliffJumper and Windcharger threw me off. :P

Reign of Starscream is a sequel comic, not a prequel comic, unless you're talking about a prequel to TF2 (which it probably isn't, because they didn't have the movie script for TF2 when they made the comic).

That must be surely Skids. Names of Ratchet and Bonecrusher read also on their vehicle modes. I'm sure about this: Chevrolet Beat robot is Skids.
