The final toy reveals a possible new character for the movie - Springer. While the toys says "Autobot Springer", that is probably for copyright reasons. Springer is a G1 Transformer first introduced as a triple-changer in the animated Transformers: The Movie and has a relationships of sorts with Arcee. Based on the toy picture I am guessing his alt mode is a V-22 Osprey. The military aircraft was used in the first movie and rumored to have been used in scenes for the second. Now considering Hasbro likes to use characters in their movie toy lines that have no part in the movie, its possible this character doesn't show up in the movie. Considering the alt mode and the characters history I have my doubts on that theory.
Update: From TF08, below is a picture of Legends Jetfire showing his jet mode. Thanks to minime for the link.
Hmmm, Jetfire no sexehtime! I certainly hope that these aren't the final models. The Jetfire toy looks insanely silly with the big ... thing ... hanging from his groin/back.
ReplyDeleteWhen looking at Optimus and Bumblebee, you can clearly see that the detail level is really low.
Hopefully Springer will be in the movie as well, give us more robots! :)
Keep up the great work dude!
Because that Jetfire toy looks like it transforms to SR-71 Blackbird stealth jet, it has confirmed that Jetfire makes his appreance in this movie. But as toy he is a Decepticon. I still believe that he'll turn to side of Autobots in ROTF movie, because in other Transforners stories Jetfire has been an Autobot.

ReplyDeleteThis is a final model, but it's just a legend class figure. What do you expect from something that small? Complex transformation and stuff?
Movieverse springer is that Incinerator legend class prototype we saw earlier! Meaning it transforms to an osprey... but green... hmm... a tribute to G1, but are there any real green ones around?
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree that Jetfire looks kinda fugly here, even for a legends class.
ReplyDeleteI can only hope the actual voyager figure wont have long legs like that.
As for Springer, he'll probably be an Incinerator repaint.
I understand these are Legend class and therefore tiny, but look at Prime's fists. They appear to be backwards and reversed...
ReplyDeleteWhen they are that small, they loose their detail and their intrigue but cool if Springer is in the movie too. Maybe Springer and Jetfire will run into each other in the air and Springer is the one who will try to convince Jetfire he's on the wrong side or at least something crazy like that. Wouldn't it be cool if they went the G1 route to an extent and Jetfire and Starscream were once collegues on Cybertron, before the war.
ReplyDelete@Mike:
ReplyDeleteI bet my shorts on Jetfire being one the persons behind the Wormhole-technology, and Starscream probably has something to do with either Jetfire and/or Wormhole-technology. :)
@Anonymous:
Legend class or not, the model/toy for Jetfire is not cool. At all. That is my humble opinion and mine only.
I'm just glad he's in the movie, and I'm totally sure that he will look mindblowing in the movie.
omg jetfire is so FUCKING UGLY!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy are the wheels on Optimus Primes' arms instead of his legs? Is that to make it easier for the kids to transform him or something?
ReplyDeleteDoes the Jetfire figure even have a head? Or it does and it's smaller than it's fist? And what about that "3rd Leg"? A Transformers Tripod or something? This better be changed! It's goddamn pathetic!
ReplyDeleteFAKE!
ReplyDeleteWhy are the wheels on Optimus Primes' arms instead of his legs? Is that to make it easier for the kids to transform him or something?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you expect from something that small? Complex transformation and stuff? Wait for a Voyager or leader class figure...
FAKE..
ReplyDeleteI've seen those chinese copies of optimus and bumblebee selling on ebay since last year..
Arcee: "Hey there Jetfire, is thst a big, black cockpit between your legs, or are you just happy to see me?"
ReplyDeleteI've seen those chinese copies of optimus and bumblebee selling on ebay since last year..
ReplyDeleteAnd ofcourse, you don't have any evidence, to prove that? Shame... And lame.
At least the bumblebee figure would be a step up from his previous movie legend class figure. Unfortunately, i have found most of the movie legends dreadful.
ReplyDeleteAs for Jetfire.... i am witholding total Judgement... but the person who said "fugly" above, is probably making the understatement of the year.

ReplyDeletethis looks kinda the same..
hey guys check this out.. these guys built a real transformer... awesome
ReplyDeletehttp://blog.primediary.com/2007/10/real-transformer-made-in-china.html
yeah,
ReplyDeleteFake!
I say fake too. Notice too, that any movie character toy has it's name on the package. Any toy they make that is not from the movie, usually says Autobot (name) or Decepticon (name) and is just a store release toy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of you that Jetfire looks terrible. However, considering the earlier rumor that he used a walking stick to move around (probably that plain wheel that is attached to his left arm), he is probably a quadreped with those long arms. We will see how that works out, but I'm sure that Bay wouldn't have included it unless it was badass.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to the Springer toy, I don't know if it is a repaint of Incinerator. I have never seen that toy. But, it would make sense of this character would be in the movie. According to numerous interviews, as well as one included in the 2nd DVD of Transformers, Michael Bay has a good relationship with the U.S. army. Similar to the previous one, it would make sense that he was able to include new military hardware in his movies. According to Wikipedia, the Osprey has been in development for 35 years and, apparently, was only recently completed. The inclusion of this mode of transport would therefore fit the aforementioned notion.
The suggestion that Jetfire has something to do with wormholes, does tie in with both his background as a scientist in the series and comics, the rumor that he can cause blackholes, and the fact that it is suggested that The Fallen came to be on planet Earth because of a wormhole. It probably makes for some interesting special effects!
IDIOT, those with 'Autobot' and 'Decepticon' in front of their names are characters in which Hasbro were unable to secure their copyrighted names. MORON!

Soundwave: As you command Megatron.
Just kidding. Really from '86 movie. :I
i think i have found something kinda interesting ... There was a rumour that Jetfire will be wounded in the movie, and will use a landing gear (which is NOT computer generated) as a crutch. I think that this toy proves this rumour . If u c , in his left hand he has a 'landing pod'( i think this is how u say this ) and it looks like he uses it as a crutch .
ReplyDelete"However, considering the earlier rumor that he used a walking stick to move around (probably that plain wheel that is attached to his left arm), he is probably a quadreped with those long arms. ReplyDeleteI just had a horrific thought. For the love of all things transformers, I hope its not true.... Does anyone remember the references early on to a "geriatric" robot. Is there any romote possibility at this point that Bay was referring to Jetfire... everyone keeps referring to the landing gear as a crutch.... But it could also be a walking stick... or cane (in a robot sense). Yikes...

ReplyDeleteNOOOOOO! Rly?! Damn, you fooled me for a second... Not.

You guys are not far off! The are obvious confidentialty agreements in place to keep the movies plots and characters unknown before the release, but I must admit that alot of you seem to know more than you should! We have begun the post-production CG work to the opening scene, and its beyond even my expectations... Look out for the teaser trailer very soon
ReplyDeleteCiao

"We have begun the post-production CG work to the opening scene"
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean we? you WISH you were part of the production crew.
LOL nice try with the MB signature.

These toys are not for collectors. These toys only have a level 2 difficulty on them, and are meant for little kids who don't give a crap. I will say this, has anybody mentioned anything about Springer. His toy says Autobot Springer, while all the other toys just have the name. Is there a Decepticon Springer? Maybe this is some sort of a plot point. The other toys don't say Autobot Bumblebee.
ReplyDeleteAutobot Jazz , Decepticon Brawl .
ReplyDeleteTrademark problems .
WTF? Jetfire a Decepticon??? are they totally stupid?
ReplyDeleteWTF? Jetfire a Decepticon??? are they totally stupid?
ReplyDeleteG1 cartoon - He was a friend of Starscream, and a Decepticon. Later, he changed and became an Autobot.
G1 Marvel Comic - He was born to be a Decepticon, but later he became an Autobot.
Wow, a geewuner, who complains about something that WAS in G1... That's something new! :D :D :D
