The first is a message from Jason, who provided many set pictures and set reports while Transformers was shooting at Bethlehem Steel over the summer. On the last day of the shoot, he was invited to watch the last scene shot at the site, which is now in the trailer at the 1:02 point. It is the moment when the Scavenger completes his transformation and smashes his arms into the ground setting off a huge explosion. Jason also grabbed the screenshot to the left that shows a face in the debris (1:06 point) that the blow causes. Any clue what that is? Maybe ILM having some fun? My best guess is the site is supposed to be Shanghai, China so its a CGI statue head I guess that might be in the area.
Over at Planet Lynx there are some screenshot that help get a good look at the apparently unicycle style of the Arcee units, a breakdown where apparently Audi doesn't just flip and transform, but flips, shoots at them and then transforms (showing level of detail ILM is putting on screen), the shot to the right that indicates that Scorponok is diving on the geriatric Jetfire and a possible look at the Fallen. Update: The cane pic has been updated from an image from Carl to illustrate that the cane is landing gear.Update 2: Below are some screenshots provided by Elis. The first gives you a look at what is probably The Fallen in the desert, a freeze of Scavenger transforming with the cab on his shoulder, the bug that is torn by Sam complete with mini satellite dish (possible Soundwave minion?), and last is a shot of the unicycle look of Arcee.
I dunno why but Arcee being a unicycle is just appaling to me.

- Archer said he couldn't give away the plot point, but there's a reason that Soundwave is designed the way he is for the movie. Hasbro had a more basic toy need. So, the two were blended together.

I rate this trailer 7/10 as it only shows a few clips from the last trailer and useless scenes designed to waste time like a tiny sam running with a pyramid next to him or Scavenger hitting the ground to send up a dust cloud or even worse sam looking at a small bug then flicking his eyes from left to right.

The explosion causes a cloud of dust and the helicopter which is viewing the transformation focuses its spotlight on the dust cloud creating this image of a face or showing Scavengers face behind the smoke.

It is not going to be like anything from the cartoon theory or comic. Its going to be a new theory of its own
ReplyDeleteThe face is a bunch of concrete pipes being knocked away by the explosion. The parts with the bikes goes by too quickly to definitively say that they only have unicycle modes. Perhaps they have a unicycle mode as well as a bipedal mode? Lastly, I don't know what that is, debris maybe, but I don't think that thing is a cane. I don't want to make any personal decisions on what anything is until i see a clear HD version of the trailer.

1. An SR71 blackbird is not a flash new jet. Its very old and had its first flight in 1964. New my ass.
2. Well one definately has, they might have legs as well but prefere to use wheels. And they might transform together so thats always a plus.
3 & 4. No comment, i dont even know what your worried about. They dont look terrible and you should at least be happy that your getting a freking 100+ foot gestalt and another beastformer
5. Superman pwns and he doesnt have any visible weapons. Come to think of it Optimus prime pwns and he doesnt have any visible weapons. Megatron from movie 1 didnt have any visible weapons until he needed to use them. I think it was only ironhide that had weapons showing always. It might not even have been the fallen, might have just been another protoform. If it is the fallen they probably wouldnt waste the flames on a trailer he wouldnt really be able to have flames comming up through sand would he the sand would have just extinguished it.
6. Or the film might explain how he grew his tail back. You dont even get to see his full tail so how do you know its grown back.
7. Who cares about sam. When optimus is gettin his ass kicked by the RH400, Megatron and the fallen.
So scorpio dont worry man. The movie is gonna be awsome, if you think bad about it no matter how good it is you wont like it. Flash new jet ah, nice one :D.

I wonder if there's a hint or clue in the way the Decepticon insignia is 'formed' at the end. It's as if it's made up from shattered shards of glass. The slow-mo looks cool too. Just an observation. Yep it looks like a landing gear used as the 'crutch', I just don't buy that story, whoever it is. Regardless of how old a robot may be... I doubt they'd rely on a leaning post to get by.
ReplyDeleteI love how little we know about this movie. I almost spoiled the first movie for myself but reading up so much (mostly on this blog). Although I've kept looking every day for updates I think Bay's done a great job in keeping it all under wraps. I just they don't go and blow it now by revealing too much especially as they've done so well to hide it. By this time for TF1 we'd seen almost all CGI renders for the TFs (probably for fan approval/reaction as Prime's design was WAY off to start with). I just hope said CGIs get released straight after the movie cos no way in hell can anyway take in all the detail there's gonna be... it'll all be moving too fast. Hoping for lots more transformations from 'afar' this time... where the whole robot can be seen (like 'Scavanger here'... not just close ups).
Devastator-wise, I think it's cool each component doesn't have a 'full' robot mode; that suggests half the battle for the Autobots... keeping the 6/7 components apart from each other preventing the merge. This way damage can be 'minimised', compared to what will happen when the 6/7 parts get their hands on each other! When they do merge tho, I think it'll only happen once as too expensive to animate over and over, and I think the head we've already seen here will be the head of the overall gestalt. Other components may not even have heads in individual forms.
Bring on the HD/HQ!!

That's how it grows back. Also, in sequal/prequel comic RoS, S7 mention how the 'NBEs' are able to 'grow'/generate ammo/bullets when firing @ Starscream like we can hair & finger-nails... "hardly seems fair does it?!"
Wonder if Frenzy make's a cameo?? In the same RoS comic Starscream retrieves him from Hoover Dam. He get's taken back to Cybertron as he holds data on the structure of the Allspark, that's how Starscream planned to rebuild it, by reading Frenzy's databanks so he should definitely be 'functional' in the beginning.

I just watched some of the scenes Entertainment tonight showed, I slowed them down on my DVR and that Decepticon in the Desert that attacks the soldiers is the Fallen, he was glowing red and I saw his face clearly.

He doesnt seem like a noob he is saying good stuff most of the time. Also seeing jetfire with a crutch would be stupid why would a robot need a crutch anyway? They cant get older. Th only explanation is that one of his legs may be broken or rusting.

That would be HOT. Now that the trailer has been cleaned up you can really tell it is not a face but just debris falling from the explosions.

if you go frame by frame that CGI "head" in question is just the barrels or tubes or whatever from the construction site being thrown around. Combination of that and the lighting from the spotlight creates a trick on the eyes. You can also see the barrels in the shot (aerial) as he is transformering.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of you are missing an important point regarding Jetfire. If he is old and rickety, it's because his body is old and rickety. He could scan one of the latest examples of secret millitary vehicles and he'd be that shiny ship, he'd just be a geezer as a robot.
ReplyDeletewell i just checked out a high def freeze of scorponok leaping at the robot holding himself up on whatever that is.... anyone else see the glowing red lines on the arm ? and that piece on the side of his hip... it matches a similar piece on the cgi pic of the supposed "fallen" glowing red lines in the arm are potential clues as well....maybe even proof that the "fallen" is jetfires protoform before he reformats into the sr-71 .. i also think that it is silly for a robot to have a cane...perhaps he is just picking himself up from a prior attack ? guess we shall see
