It seems that for the last three days Transformers 3 has been filming along a highway in Hammond, Indiana. Wednesday night's shoot ended on a tragic note as an extra on the set was injured by an object that went through the windshield of her 2006 Toyota resulting in a "serious head injury" that required an airlift to Loyola Medical Center. Apparently the driver was knocked unconscious as the vehicle continued moving, hitting the inner concrete median for a mile before coming to a stop.Part of the filming used extras in their own vehicles to, I assume, fill out the look of a highway chase sequence that closed down the freeway for driving stunt sequences. Filming at the location was cancelled (or at least the use of extras) for Thursday but I am not sure if that is due to the injury or because of the filming in Chicago. Further details have not been released but hopefully the extra will make a full recovery.
Relating to the Indiana filming, below are two videos posted today that show a little bit of the action. Optimus Prime has taken on a blue color for I assume special effects reasons as that shape will be replaced by CGI in post-production. It must be a complicated sequence as that hasn't been necessary in the past. Thanks to DJ Bigtyme Beats for the videos.

That blue truck has to be stunt double for optimus, its not even the same type of truck, optimus is an older style square front end and sleeper this one is a newer style truck with rounded features, they just needed something the same size and general shape
ReplyDeleteI dont care if Optimus is being chased by Unicron or anything. The Optimus i remember would never purposefully destroy cars or vehicle`s that contain people. I`m guessing either Motoromaster or Scourge. Whatever it is, we`ll probably have atleast one Decepticon and one Autobot combiner.
ReplyDeleteNo, you can see this Truck at the begining of the first Video. The Truck and this "Stunt Truck" is the same! Could be Motormaster. But I think it is a Decepticon combiner.

ReplyDeleteScorpio is right, the way this truck bashes through the cars in its way (obviously injuring and killing people in the process), it's got to be a decepticon. I wonder what this truck will actually look like in the final movie. The way it's made for CGI, it may not even be a truck. Maybe some cybertronian vehicle? There's also a blue version of Optimus seen in the start of the footage.

ReplyDeleteThat smash truck may very well be Motormaster. I can very well see him as one of those large Volvo trucks, The king of the road type. The Optimus truck just may be a random truck on the roadside. The square headlights and center drop trailer isn't the type Optimus would have.
