Nimoy is most famous for the role of Spock in Star Trek and might be familiar recently as William Bell in Fringe. This isn't his first foray into the world of Transformers as he voiced Galvatron in Transformers: The Movie.Mr. Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy, has joined the film as the voice of Sentinel Prime, the predecessor of Optimus Prime whose wrecked body is seen in the teaser trailer, found crash-landed on the moon by the Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969. Later, after being brought to earth, he takes the disguise form of a fire engine in the movie’s massive, climactic battle through Chicago.
The idea of Leonard Nimoy returning to the TF universe has been around for a few years now as many fans advocated him voicing a character in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Back in April 2009 Michael Bay was asked about this possibility and he responded, "[Nimoy] is married to Susan Bay, who’s a cousin to me,” Michael explained, saying that he’s afraid of insulting his relative with the mere pittance allotted to pay his voice actors. “I just feel kind of bad about asking him. Like ‘I can’t pay you that much? But would you do this voice?’" This was followed up a week later with Leonard Nimoy himself who simply said that Bay had to just ask.
Apparently has asked and Nimoy has accepted. Even better it seems the character of Sentinel Prime is a rather important one in DOTM so it might just be a few lines like it might have been if Bay had tried to get him for Revenge. EW tends to be right on the mark with their reports but since no one official with the movie is quoted, I have very slight reservations. I hope Bay comments on his forum confirming this news soon. Thanks to GundamFan89, Chris, Sean and Ryan for the heads-up.
I'm sooo excited! :)
ReplyDeleteEPIC, now they just need to get liam neeson to voice Alpha trion XD
ReplyDelete@annonymous 7:03 dude relax. It's only a movie. Just breath.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 3/31/2011 7:36 PM: more likely you and others here are Paramount and Bay employees.
ReplyDelete@Anon 7:03 - Why didn't I think of that? Liam Neeson would be great to voice in TF3. Plus he's one of my favorite actors.
ReplyDeleteI will be happy if Nemoy voiced Sentinel Prime. I can easily think of a few actors to voice Sentinel and he is definetly on that list.
What's so bad about being a Paramount employee? I'd LOVE to be one! :D
ReplyDeleteAwesome! they kinda look a like
ReplyDeleteLeonard Nimoy is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSweet, am I the only one that is seeing pwnage for Starscream? After all he did it before as Galvatron.
ReplyDeleteI really like this comment by Bay in the story, “The robots have more character in this movie. Much more. You really understand their struggle, on both sides actually,” Bay says. Sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI loved Leonard Nimoy as Galvatron. Although I respect Frank Welker's talent, I felt his performance as Galvatron in Series 3 didn't do the character justice
ReplyDeletei really love the voices they have now but if it was up to me to choose and i couldnt use people that were in micheal bays films already i would use
ReplyDeleteOptimus Prime - Liam Neeson (aslan)
Ironhide - John DiMaggio (Marcus from Gears)
Ratchet - David Wenham (300 narrator)
Prowl - Steve Downes (cool guy who doesn't afraid of anything)
Jazz - Kieth David (AIM DOWN YOUR SIGHTS!)
Skyfire - James Earl Jones (darth vader)
Sentinel Prime - Ray Winstone (Beowulf)
Bumblebee - Sean Schemmel (Goku)
Megatron - Michael Ironside (Darkseid DCU)Starscream - Mark Hammil (batman animated joker)
Soundwave - Dee Baker (does alot of voices)
Shockwave - Alan Rickman (snape)
Score - Hanz Zimmer
Movie theme song performer - Utada Hikaru
and the film would give everyone the most epic Eargasm of all time
Nobody can be Optimus EXCEPT Peter Cullen.
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, I'm referring to the guy above, not the post. I love the idea of Nimoy.
ReplyDeleteBest news about the movie in months! Bay finially did something right.
ReplyDeleteGuess the Ferrari!!

I hope they get someone equally epic to voice Shockwave.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I agree 100% with the earlier post about optimus...there were some good optimus voices in beastwars/machines etc...but for me..Cullen "is" Prime !! Thought Megatron's voice was good in the same show and also in tf wfc...but again, Megatron will always be Welker...but thats just me.
ReplyDeleteHowever...I wonder what type of "shockwave" we will see in this movie...the highly intelligent British type voice? (certainly will not suit his look for this movie though...as he looks bad ass!) Or...will we see and shrewd and brutal tactician loyal only to Megatron?
Either way, I hope there is a little character development, as you don't necessarily need dialogue for character development ( ie, dirty harry...man of few words, but tonnes of character !!)
So in the end I hope its "less talk...more SHOCK!!!" for shockwave :)
And Nimoy will be awesome in this movie!!
God I hope a trailer comes out soon!! :D !
Sentinel Prime: Logic? What the hell do you know about logic Shockwave? Now live long, and prosper.
ReplyDelete^^ hahaha !! good one lol :D !
ReplyDeleteSweeeet <3
ReplyDeleteALAN RICKMAN would be soooo amazing for Shockwave. Let's be real, once you hear it, you cannot unhear it.
ReplyDelete^^^^ HAhaha I could soo hear him voice Shockwave LOL!! If they go with the "clever and shrewd" angle with shockwave's character, then he would be the ideal voice !! lol :D Good one!
ReplyDeleteNemoy just tweeted confirmation that he is working on Transformers, but didn't confirm he is Sentinal, but I'm sure that hasn't changed.
