The face of Bumblebee has reached the web. Its very Furby/Ewok like to me. Its also the final nail in the coffin that the Tranformers heads will not have human faces we grew up with. Since the movie is aiming for internal logic, it does make sense that alien robots wouldn't have human faces. Still, no horns on Bumblebee is a sad thing. (source)
Update: Roberto Orci, one of the writers of the script, commented on TF faces, "without confirming or denying anything, all faces will have CG elements augmenting them."

Transformers with human faces would be freaking stupid.
ReplyDeleteBut if they can mimic vehicles to the degree they do the internal logic of that dictates they probably should be able to mimic human faces to some degree as well as a lot of other things.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking something along the lines of the bots in I, Robot from a few years ago or something.
I've enjoyed coming to this site regularly to get updates on the movie. Thank you for providing so much info along the way. I wanted to email you this directly, but didn't see an option on the site, so I'm using the comments section.
ReplyDeleteI have one request (and please don't think I'm being snobby here): watch your spelling/grammer. Specifically these two examples:
You keep writing "where" when you mean to write "were." It's driving me nuts. "Where" rhymes with "wear" as in "Where's Waldo?"
See the difference? Think of the question "Where were you?"
Second, when you use the word "too" meaning "also" or "in addition too" it is spelled with 2 o's. Same applies when you say that someone is "too old" or "too tough looking", etc.
Go ahead and re-read some of your posts and you'll see that your "to's" and your "were's" are all out of whack. It might seem little to you (and I'll probably get flamed for it big time) but I would want someone to share it with me if it was my site.
Thanks.
hey fancypants - you spelled "grammer" wrong.
ReplyDeleteGo ahead and re-read your post.
I had read some where that the transformers would have removable face plate armor and that Optimus Primes mouth cover would come off, maybe that is whats on his face where the mouth is, the other pics of Bumblebee look like he has a mouth
ReplyDeleteThe picture of his face is actually a little dark, from previous pictures, it looks like he might have horns, or stubs, or something. I think I see some stub-like things on the top of Bumblebee's head in this picture, which I guess are supposed to be like horns.
ReplyDelete~HA! I did spell "grammar" wrong! Isn't that poetic!?
ReplyDeleteI tried very hard to make sure my post didn't sound mean or nasty. I was just trying to offer some constructive feedback. I have several websites that I run and would want the same feedback. Certainly we all make type-os (as evidenced here), but that's a little different than repeatedly mis-spelling and mis-using a word, wouldn't you say?
Yours truly,
"fancypants"
Hey "fancy" - sorry man - didn't mean to get all over you; I just couldn't pass up the opportunity. :)(I know what you mean about poor writing).
ReplyDeleteHaving said that I must say I'm very dissapointed at most of the info on the 'Net about this movie. I realize it's not the final product but when the producers try to validate their choices at the cost of trivializing the source material it is very disheartening. The whole clamour for a "Transformers" movie was to relive our childhood memories of the G1 transformers. I'm sure this movie will be fine. Just rename it GoBots or GiantDreamworkBots if they don't resemble what the fans have been wanting. My childhood memories weren't of alien robots fighting a galactic war. It was about a yellow Beetle. And Ironhide. And an F-15 Starscream.
*sigh*. Just my $0.02.
Hey, doesn't it look like Bumblebee is getting crushed or something and making a sad face? Maybe part of the story, but I don't see it in the script that was leaked.
ReplyDeleteI think he's just covered in some kind of canvas or something to protect him from the weather.
ReplyDeletei think he is scared of fan outrage when they see him.
ReplyDeleteI think he has "horns" -- but they're those little black bumps on his helmet. I'm not sure what I make of the inhuman face yet either, but keep in mind that the G1 Bumblebee TOY face didn't have a human face either.
ReplyDeleteThere's a Q&A with Don Murphy going on at Seibertron.com right now. I asked about whether or not we'll see ANY humanoid faces. We'll see what he says...?

To the anonymous grammar dude, you wrote the following:
ReplyDelete"It might seem little to you (and I'll probably get flamed for it big time) but I would want someone to share it with me if it was my site."
It should be "if it *were* my site" since this sentence is in the subjunctive.
Actually, G-1 Bumblebee did have a mouth, a nose, and eyes, like a human face, if that's what we mean by a human face.
ReplyDeletethat face looks like someones ripper of his propper face and thts his autobot skeleton, looks like some sort of fucked up gas mask??!?!?!
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at some artwork for the Transformers Evolution #1 comic book (which I will be buying soon) and noticed in some of the artwork, Bumblebee has stumps instead of horns.
