Based on a theatre website, Australia will also be getting Transformers a week before the US on 6/29/06. I am still curious what the business motivations are for releasing the movie elsewhere in the world before the major movie markets of the US and Japan.

Interesting. Being an Aussie myself, I looked at the GU/BCC website a week or two ago, and they had pegged the release date at July 2nd.
ReplyDeleteI would say that it's been brought forward to June 29th because the 29th is a Thursday, the weekday that new movies traditionally open here. Still, why the studios didn't peg it for Thursday, July 5th I'm not sure. I have the feeling that it's due to the fact that Winter school holidays start on the 7th, but I can't explain it.
The 29 of june is a friday, so they could bring it out over here(in australia) on the 28 which a Thursday
