This has already been discussed before, but figured people would like to see the original photo of Bumblebee's face that appeared in Time. It helps as get to see even more detail in the face. (source)

The available script stated that Bumblebee shrunk the cube so he could transport it while transformed. I would assume also to give Spike the chance to keep it defiantly away from Megatron.

Weird. So it's not CGI, apparently. The fact that we couldn't tell for sure speaks well for this movie's FX.
