What Movie Stuff Did You Buy?

Its June 2nd, so retail locations around the country should have some freshly stocked shelves of Transformers toys and related merchandise. When swung by Target yesterday they already had the space cleared for them, just not stocked. I am still trying to figure out what want to buy. Have a budget afterall so can't get it all.

If you went and hit up a store, what did you get and what do you think of it?

Update: If interested in getting some movie toys, hit Target instead of Wal-Mart first. I swung by Target after work Friday and they already pre-prepped the store with an 8 foot section and two end caps.

Around 3am Saturday, hit up two Super Wal-Marts and neither had much of anything available. They had items but scattered throughout the toy section with no rhym or reason. Both stores had about a 2 foot section for Transformers...but was filled with previous line's shelf warmers. Bascially what few gaps they had they used to fill with the movie toys. If no gap they just didn't stock it. So I found Leader version of Optimus Prime but not much else. Speaking of, did notice that the Target exclusive version of Optimus had a $45 tag while the regular retail version is only $40.

Another update: Went out today and hit up Target (bought Voyager Ironhide) and Toys R Us (bought Blackout). Target had a good selection of items. The Robo-Vision version of Optimus is nice but not sure if worth the extra $5. Toys R Us is turning out to to be the play to Transformers shop. They had a huge selection at the front of the store of almost every toy available. Probably a new first stop location. Also discovered that for the Voice Changer Optimus Prime helmet, there are two version. If check the front left side of the box will see a lavel that says "Featuring the Real Movie Voice" or says "Press Buttons for Battle Phrases". Get the first version, its Peter Cullen as Optimus voice. Pick the latter is unknown dude as Optimus voice. Target didn't have the Cullen version, Toys R Us did...but was charging $35 instead of $30 for the toy. Toys R was also charging $35 instead of $30 for the Big Blaster. The rest of the stuff seemed to be at regular MSRP. So the lesson of the day is hit Toys R Us, then Target and skip Wal-Mart all together for TF toys.

  1. I stopped by Toys "R" Us this morning. I got there 10 minutes after they opened and there was quite a "mob" already. I picked up Jazz, Ratchet, Ironhide and Starscream (I already have Blackout, Barricade, Bonecrusher and Brawl). All are pretty good, with one exception, Ironhide. I'm so disappointed in this one. Has anyone managed to get to transform into "robot mode"? I feel like it's something simple I'm overlooking, but from what I can tell, he looks like his top half is on backwards. I hope I'm wrong. So anyone have any luck?

  2. I FINALLY see what I was missing. Had/have to turn his top portion around. Just feels like you are going to break him easily. Some parts/joints are very stiff. Oh well, at least I figured it out.

  3. Yeah, I went nuts today. 2 of every Autobot, one to open and one to save, and one of every Decepticon that won't be opened. Plus I just ordered two Megatrons from the Hasbro Website since I don't think anyone is carrying him yet. Again one to open, one to save. Didn't see Wreckage. I have a feeling he may be the one that will be worth something some day.

  4. I checked 3 wal-marts and all they had were the protoforms.. went to Toys"R"Us and they had a lot of them... 3 pegs were already gone and only one Swindle left... got him, Prime, Blackout, Ratchet (why's he the only one with the faction in his name?), Starscream (which I was actually impressed with), and Ironhide (yea, I got stuck with the torso part too...looked like it wasn't supposed to swivel). They had the fast action battlers and legends and the real gear (which were smaller than expected which turned me off of them :\). It's ok tho, I don't have enough for the rest atm anyway. Next paycheck I should be able to get the rest.

I havn't gotten into Blackout or Swindle yet, but I like the others except for Ratchet... the lower peg (that goes into his pelvis) is longer that it should be... and he doesn't really have any 'automorph' parts.

I'm not sure I really want those from the Deluxe line... the Voyager figures have so much detail and are a blast to transform but the Deluxe figures (namely BB and Barricade) seem kinda thin and low low budget... hope they end up coming out to the Voyager line.

  5. I got deluxe barricade and bumblebee (was tempted to get optimus but really had to save up some dough). I was pissed off that they didn't have any starscream only blackout and ratchet..oh well give a week or so and maybe I'll get lucky...but at least barricade and bumblebee turned out to be quite promising as they both stand by my computer right now! ^^

  6. I ended up just getting Leader Class Optimus and Voyager Class Ironhide (who is quickly becoming one of my favorite Transformers of all time! Sorry you guys aren't digging him.)

I passed on pretty much everything else. I'll get the Ultimate Bumblebee when he comes out, and probably the Deluxe '08 redux. But not a lot else is catching my eye.

  8. I went out Friday night after midnight to 2 different Walmart stores. The first was still working on stocking the toy dept. No Transformers even out on the pallets yet.
Went to a second Walmart and they had all their stuff out. I for leader Prime, Ironhide, Rachet, and Starscream.

Saturday I went to Target early and found they were just now stocking it (they night guys were supposed to before they left but didn't) so I got first dibs on everything. :)
Picket up the Robo Vision Prime, both Softimus Prime and Slumble Bee (Slumble Bee was for the wire), and also grabbed the Fast Action Battelers Prime just to see what those toys were like. I haven't opened him yet but I probably won't get anymore of those.

Then I headed over to Toys R Us and picked up the Legends Optimus (since I already bought every other size OP) and Bonecrusher.

I already had both Proto Forms and Bumblebee and Jazz.

So, over all I bought way too much.. But hey.. I will get them all eventually anyway, right? ;)

  9. I went insane today at Toys "R" Us. Got two of the last Leader Class Optimus Primes in stock, as well as Deluxe Ironhide and Deluxe Starscream. Got the Bumblebee statue, plushies of Optimus and Bumblebee, Deluxe Ratchet, Deluxe Blackout, and some other stuff like Jetfire and Cybertron Primus Unleashed (I forgot the name really). And YES, I got the stupid HELMET. hahaha I know I know, I'm not that kinda guy, but hey if I got the MR. POTATO HEAD OP, then hell, might as well get the HELMET TOO! TRU had a huge aisle all set for more TF merchandise, so I'll plan to get the OP Truck/Gun thingy too. I might hit Walmart tonight and see what they got. Thanks for the heads up on TRU Priority #1!
