According to UK site Play.com, the UK release date for Transformers DVD will be 12/3/07 for 15 pounds and TFW2005 says it that Australia will get the DVD on November 1st.
as a UK resident and regular customer of play.com, i can safely bet that WON'T be the released dvd cover. due to the period betwwen pre-order and release, play.com normally display a 'mock-up' cover just so there isn't a blank spot where the dvd image would normally. once the dvd is on general release the actual cover would be displayed. also closer to the time of actual release, the cover would be updated but as for now, play.com will simply have done minimal work on producing a dvd cover, i.e. just sticking the 'dvd' logo somewhere on a copy of a poster they;ve been able t get their hands on.
in the coming months i'm hopin either play.com or amazon reveal a 2-disc special edition, similar to the 2-disc cybertronian edition of the xbox360 game, which may (like i,robot) be released in a fancy metal tin or something like. either way, a special edition; perhaps even limited edition.
that said, the cover shown could just be for the single-disc edition with no bonus material etc... but for the better deluxe 2-disc edition, i'm seriously expecting a fancy case/cover/tin to which some serious thought and design has been applied.
and besides, this is gonna be the SOLE reason behind me purchasing the hd-dvd add on to my 360 or a stand-alone hd-dvd player.
just looked on uk amazon. if pre-order now... get 50% off. however, this does not detail which disc edition (probably 1-disc as only £9.98 (after 50% off). reverting back to the cover issue, the 'cover' shown by amazon is COMPLETELY different to the one shown by play.com. where play uses the prime, bumblebee and megatron poster... amazon used the autobot eye/logo hovering behind planet earth poster... the very forst one we ever saw. so as potential consumers i wouldn't read too much into the 'covers' hovering about the net so far. i'm still banking on a deluxe 2-disc edition presented in a hinged tin ala i,robot special edition.
(the metallic and robotic connections here seem to provide some promise that this could well happen). with it being released around xmas and considering the HUAGE success of the film, it wouldn't surprise me if this is one of the best selling dvd's either a) of the year, or b) of all time. pending this, i reckon it would be worth the studio (whoever designs and mass produces the dvd) investing a little more funding a pumping out an extra-special dvd-edition... one unseen for any other film before.
also... the hd-edition should be absolutely KICK-ASS!!!!!!
