Transformers should now be out in a seas of copies in retail stores near you. What exclusive version did you buy and what do you think of the DVD and any extras?
I went to a Circuit City in northern Virginia.... The special edition rang up as $29.99 and they kept trying to tell me that was the correct price (despite the flier's quoted $22.99 price) because it came with a download card. Yeah right. They finally gave me the right price and at least they didn't argue about the hat... which is very high-quality btw, the logo is in thick raised stitching. Anyway, make sure to check the price at the register before you pay, if you go to Circuit City.
I bought the special edition DVD at Best Buy...along with that cool Megatron lithograph. I won't be able to watch the movie till Thursday (my day-off) though because of work. :p
I picked mine up @ Best Buy today, 2 disk edition. When I upgrade my television and dvd player, I'll get the HD disk. Enjoyed the extras on the 2nd disk...just thought there'd be more. Or maybe I just love this movie so much, I WANT more!! lol Bring on T2!!
I got the Transforming Special-Edition, primarily cuz my wife works at Target and they did not have the regular special edition. The Transformering Case is kinda cool. Actual stands up, but easily tipped over. Definitely a little gimmick that my son may enjoy when he's old enough to watch it. Personally, for me it's a bit cheesy. And I have never liked the thin plastic box the case goes in, with any DVD set. At least other DVD sets have an inner box that help keeps the form of the outside sleeve. With the awkward shaped transforming case, seems to me that the corners & sides of the outer sleeve could be easily crushed. Still, with my Target discount, it cost about $.50 less to get the Transforming Special-Edition than it would have if I went to Best Buy and got the regular Special-Edition.
As far as the special features are concerned, I haven't had a chance to watch 'em all yet. The parts I have watched have been well-done and a little more entertaining than most How-We-Did-Its. I did find one of the Easter Eggs on my own. The Bay-Bot one, which was a little humerous. My biggest dissappointment with the special edition is a lack of deleted scenes. Apparently a couple of the easter eggs are deleted scenes, and the was one point in one the documentaries that said deleted scene at the bottom.
So far I'm fairly content with the Special-Edition minus my hopes for more action that I didn't get in the theater, and not disimpressed by the Transforming case, though it is a bit cheesy. All in all, could be a little better, but still well worth it. Also, I love the 3D load screen, pretty cool.
I wasn't a Bay hater before, but anyone notice that he's in 85% of the special edition documentary footage? Good grief! It's as if the movie was all about him. After watching all of the special edition content, I was sick to death of him. It seems to me to be one long PR apologetic on Michael Bay.
One useful aspect of DVD's is that you can freeze the screen.
Using the pause feature, I was able to determine, from the scene where Frenzy and Blackout look up Witwicky's address, that he lived in South Gate, California.
