The Knight Shift is reporting that Steve Jablonsky has signed on to do the score for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. He had also worked on the first movie score. The blog has been a source of reliable information regarding the first movie's score and played a part in getting the first movies score released for purchase.
Personally I am still curious to know what plans were there to use original Transformers themes from the '80s and what part, if any, did the lawsuit (how that turn out anyway?) play in derailing those plans.
Thanks to Rich for the link.

THANK GOD, YES!
ReplyDeleteGreat news. Let's hope his and his crew creativity will be shown once again and that he won't give us just a remixed carbon copy of the first movie score. It was amazing, perfect and all but the majority of the new score must be original and on par with his previous excellent work, which is a real masterpiece that deserves to become a classic.
ReplyDeleteI have high hopes for his work, I expect the new score to give the same kind of feelings that the first one is able to give, it just needs to be new and not just a little update like many other composers do for sequels. Some themes must be mantained and updated here and there but many new and original ones at the same quality level have to be created in order to make the score for a Transformers movie unique once again.
Themes of the '80s anime series are not needed. Who cares if they can't use them and remix them due to lawsuits? The score for the first movie is perfect.
TF score = the only music i've listened to for the past year, TF score + TFROTF score = the only music ill ever need till TF3
