Hasbro had indicated it will show Transformers 2 footage at the San Diego Comic-Con this month and that has lead to speculation that maybe that will be when the teaser trailer for the movie will be released. When this was suggested on the Michael Bay's forum, Shoot for the Edit admin Nelson replied "No. November would be better." This had now led to new speculation that November is the new date for the trailer.
Normally Nelson credits Bay when he is the source of information and in this instance he didn't which leads me to believe the statement is simply Nelson's opinion on the matter, not indicative of locked in plans. However, he does have a point. After The Dark Knight debuts next week there really are not any movies coming out until November that will get the audience size that Bay and company would want to reach with a teaser trailer. In November though you have two highly anticipated releases in the form of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and James Bond's Quantum of Solace that are expected to fill many seats.
I think they are wasting an opportunity if they follow such a plan. The first films marketing strategy was pretty smart, providing a teaser in the summer, a trailer in the winter and a follow-up trailer in the spring. I don't see why they don't do the same for the sequel to get people talking and anticipating the film. This is all speculation thought and we really will not know what the trailer game plan is until the official news is leaked. Time will tell as always.

I'm really awaiting the 1st teaser, even though it won't give even the slightest clue of the story...
ReplyDeleteWTF?
ReplyDeleteThat's effing gay...
Anything to make money nowadays i guess...
Since Bay doesn't really need to build a new hype of the magnitude he did with the first movie, I doubt there will be a teaser like the first one for TF1.
ReplyDeleteI can imagin the following tho':
Pictures of an aircraft carrier out at sea, soundsclips about falling objects in the background, and everything suddenly turning black and silent. first you hear something big transform and then either Optimus saying something like: Prepare my brothers.. they/he are/is here.. Or Megatron/Evil dude saying: Behold... my power!.
And then the symbol of the decepticons fades in, and transforms into "Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen".
That would definatly tease my TF nerves. :)
Strandh: That is too cartoonish. This second movie everyone expects Bay to give it a darker mood, even darker than Armageddon and more violent despite the PG-13 rating... anyway DieHard4 was pretty violent for PG-13 so there is no reason why TF:ROTF can't be as much violent as that.
ReplyDeleteI personally can't wait to see it

The 1st trailer for TF was more an annoucement trailer than a teaser trailer. This was needed since people had no idea a TF movie was being made. Everyone knows a TF sequel is coming so only a teaser trailer is needed. It will probably be attached to the new Harry Potter or 007 Bond movie that's coming out in Nov.
ReplyDeleteYou do have a good point there mate :)
ReplyDeletei would just be happy with the #2 and a transformers noise for the teaser.
ReplyDeleteI think we are going to get news clips all over the world. Then we are going to hear of ET sightings. And Fireballs firing over the sky. Then Lennox and or Epps going "Not Again."
ReplyDeleteThen Megatron or The Fallen rising out of the ocean in front of an aircraft carrier. Like in the artwork.
There's definitely going to be a lot of humor for the second time around. Since Sam is used to it its just natural now, i think its going to be interesting how they have all the humans just knowing about this and their reactions. Especially sam's parents, should be some good humor there
ReplyDeleteThis second movie will still have some humor just because the original anime series did BUT I bet that it's going to be a lot darker than the first one. It's highly likely that Bay is going to make it at least as dark and dramatic as Armageddon was and he will probably push the violence factor as much as the PG-13 rating allows him to.
ReplyDeleteThat's what this movie needs anyway and what Bay must deliver.
Decepticons wanting to get revenge simply means that humans are going to suffer and die... that Earth is in danger and many Autobots will die to protect it. That's just what happens in the original series, that's what Bay and Spielberg must achieve this time, portray a full force aliens invasion.
I hope that the Constructicons merging into the huge Devastator are going to be in the movie, that would mean simply mean the most dramatic storyline with the giant robot destroying towns on its own...
TF 2 display

i hope the dinobots are going to be in tf2 or blaster or cliffjumper
ReplyDeleteThey should have the Dinobots merging into a large robot aswell. That was always lacking in the G1 etc
