IMAX Scenes Shot for TF2

Slashfilm reports that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will have scenese shot especially for the IMAX release of the movie.
We knew that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was going to be released in IMAX theaters, but Variety reports that Michael Bay is filming at least three action sequences from the upcoming sequel using IMAX cameras.

This is a growing trend. Recently it was reported that Jon Favreau would like to film sequences of Iron Man 2 in IMAX (possibly even in 3D), while DJ Caruso expressed interest in using IMAX cameras during Y: The Last Man. I’m really glad that filmmakers and studios took notice of Nolan’s use of 70mm footage during The Dark Knight. I was originally concerned that the film’s $60 million IMAX Box Office record would result in more films being digitally up-converted, rather than finding a real value added experience for the IMAX presentation.
Thanks to Melvin for the link.

Update: A press release via AICN. Probably the part that is most important is the confirmation that IMAX release date, "As previously announced, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be released to IMAX® theatres simultaneously with the movie’s wide release on June 26, 2009."

  1. What if Iron Man was in TF3?
That would be so cool, a human character that could actually help fight the Decepticons.

  2. @anonymous: it wouldn't make any sense at all. Iron Man it's another franchise, it has nothing to do with Hasbro.
Also if you knew anything about Transformers mythology and series then you would know that humans turned into Headmasters got machine powers to fight against Decepticons and such...

  3. np ;) I loved the IMAX scenes in TDK! so if this is true... It's very promising!!

  4. So how does that work? I've never gone to see a movie in IMAX. For those who saw TDK in IMAX, is the footage shot in 70mm a lot cleaner and clear and the rest of the movie has less resolution and looks like it is digitally blown up?

  5. But HaSbro makes Iron Man figures... lol anyways I wouldn't want Marvel and Transformers universes to collide. That'd be way too much to handle...

IMAX all the way baby... looking forward to LIFE-SIZE action sequences xD

As for IRON MAN and TF being together in TF3, bad idea. it would be good if optimus was in Avengers movie though.

  18. I'm guessing no-one remembers the TF/Spidey crossovers then, or that Marvel actually published a great many TF comics... A crossover isn't a complete impossibility, but very very very unlikely.

that'd be great! If they did one with Spiderman! he could help soften the fallens fall!

He doesn't want to cramp his style... guess it's worth getting all banged up every time he falls.

  20. The Laurentian Abyss is seven miles below sea level. Deepest place on the planet. The aliens will be deposited there, where the intense pressure coupled with sub-zero temperatures will crush and entomb them... leaving no evidence...

  21. What if they missed?
What if their GPS was scrambled by the intense power of the allspark in Megatron's chest. Kind of like the same way the earth's gravitational force, screwed with Megatron's telemetry when he crash landed.
    hmmmmmmm?

  22. In the 2007 live-action film "Transformers", the remains of the defeated leader of the Decepticons, Megatron and the other five defeated Decepticons, are dropped into the abyss by the U.S. Armed Forces. It is theorized that the pressure and extremely low temperatures at this depth would crush and bury the evil alien robots, thus rendering them nonfunctional and hopefully destroyed. (However, the film erroneously states that the abyss is the deepest point on Earth; the actual deepest point is the Challenger Deep, a section of the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean.)

If I am not mistaken , the only "Dead" Decepticons were Megatron, Blackout, Brawl, and Bonecrusher
We see Starscream got away, Barricade went into hiding, and Frenzy got his head cut off(which doesn't mean he is dead, he survived with head head cut off before.)

  26. "...Barricade went into hiding...."

How do you know that Barricade is hiding? I am sorry, but Barricade is dead, and he will only be in "Revenge of the Fallen" as flashback/story telling scene narrated by Optimus Prime. Prime killed Barricade on his way to Mission City after his battle with Bonecrusher. That is why he was late to the battle in the city. Barricade is now, a permanent resident of the ocean floor, along with Megatron, Bonecrusher, Blackout and Brawl(Misnamed Devastator, which the real Devastator WILL STEP FORWARD in movie 2, along with Grimloc.... ;)

  27. "Prime killed Barricade on his way to Mission City after his battle with Bonecrusher."

ORLY? And the Reign of Starscream "official movie prequel" show him still working for Starscream.

No, i don't want to say, that this comic book shows us what happened to Barricade, i want to say, that we realy don't know that... We have to wait nad see. Saying "you are wrong!" is stupid, cause, how do you know that it's not you, who is wrong? He doesn't have any source to confirm what he said, but you too, from what i see.

    Thanks, and good night.

  28. I killed Barricade....I stuck my foot out while he was running to attack the autobots, and he tripped head over heels onto the pavement.
he landed on his neck, which broke 2 of his piston ring seals, and we all know, when you break those, you are done.
